Overtime, users will become familiar with merit system. They will stop complaining, moaning, crying; starting to use their sMerits.
You can get merits in everywhere boards here as long your post have enough quality and not out topic post.
But I have seen many quality post at some boards that's doesn't get the merits, maybe some members still confused with this new system
Don't worry. You will not be tagged by moderators if your threads received merits long time after publishing. Only merit exchanging immediately will be consider to punish. The fact is no one stay here all the time to wait your threads published and give their sMerits away to your threads immediately. That's weird if happen repeatedly, right?
if you get merit from members which you are gives merit before, you can get accusation or some DT member suspicious if you trading merit and playing the system.
Agree! Those boards covered by tons of shit threads.
I think because of that if so difficult to find merit at some boards, like at bitcoin and altcoin discussion boards.

That's it!
Lots of users mainly think about how to earn merits with their threads; hence they don't concentrate on their flow of ideas, threads' logic and don't spend too much efforts to sharpen their threads in terms of coherence and cohesion.
They simply focus on how to attach several words inside their threads to call for merits give away; which usually lead to side-effects instead of getting merits, lol.
Moreover, threads need time (might be long span of time from the point it was published to the point it receive merits). After posting threads, don't pay attention about whether it get merits or not, at which time; instead paying attention on your next threads and their qualities.
If you hope to get merits for your posts, then stop and think before you post. Think about the thread, and  the reason it was started.
Agree! Bumping old topics like this also annoys old topics' authors at somewhat extent.
If it's an old thread, ie. more than a couple of months old, then don't bump it. If you have something meaningful to add to the topic, then start a new thread, and link to the old one.

There are bunches of available non-sense topics related to merits and how to get merits. So, highly recommend do not start  new topics on merit issues. I will call someone do this is new-adapted spammers!
Don't start another thread about merit. Everybody understands merit now, even if they pretend not to. If they don't, then there are so many explanations now, that  they can get all the information they need from those.
For this English issue, I also give link to TMAN's topic:
TMAN's guide to getting merits
Don't translate a quote into garbled english, and post it pretending it's your original creation.

If you don't have halfway decent English, then stay out of the English threads.
Agree too! Over-quoted, over-used infographics and images will mostly result in negative side-effects. Don't over-use them when composing next threads. It hurts my eyes and my fingers; then that sort of posters should be responsible for my medical bills.
Don't quote long posts. You can snip the relevant bit for your reply, or use one of the snip shortforms - . ~~, or >..<

Don't include large images or infographics in a text discussion thread.

If you hope to get merits for your posts, then stop and think before you post. Think about the thread, and  the reason it was started.

If it's an old thread, ie. more than a couple of months old, then don't bump it. If you have something meaningful to add to the topic, then start a new thread, and link to the old one. Merit awarders are likely to put you on ignore if you cause them to waste time by re-reading and out of date thread.

If it's a technical topic. and you don't understand it, then stay out of the thread. If you need basic information about the topic, then start a new one, but don't try to derail an advanced discussion.

Don't start another thread about merit. Everybody understands merit now, even if they pretend not to. If they don't, then there are so many explanations now, that  they can get all the information they need from those.

Don't add meaningless short phrases in a thread. post like 'great idea' or ' I'll check that later' just annoy people reading the threads.

Don't requote a post without a comment just to up your post count.

Don't translate a quote into garbled english, and post it pretending it's your original creation.

If you don't have halfway decent English, then stay out of the English threads.

Don't quote long posts. You can snip the relevant bit for your reply, or use one of the snip shortforms - . ~~, or >..<

Don't include large images or infographics in a text discussion thread.

Always remember that if a merit awarder puts you on ignore, then he will never see your posts, and won't award any merits for them. Those are just a few points, I'm sure there are more that I should have mentioned.

Several things should do and should avoid to get merits.
Should DOs:
- publishing high quality, creative (original), constructive threads.
- helping other users to solve their problems which they raise in their threads or topics.
- contributing to topics with on-context threads.

Should DONTs:
- spamming, both threads and tooics (of course, and very important)
- exchanging merits (will be found sooner or later) because putting accounts under punishments.
- posting low quality threads in sense of English proficiency.
- posting threads off-contexts.
- plagiarising.

On- and off-context threads will lead to different cases. Keep it in mind when you compose your next threads.

perfect and so helps a newbie as me, I appreciate it. thanks for that !

I also want to know how to get merits, it seems no one will send other people merit even people make high quality posts, they will just send merit to their own account since many people have more than one account

get merits by posting not for merits Smiley
Thanks. Now I'm posting some good quality post. Don't talk for merit, talk for a good quality post. In posting feel freely so that your post will be constructive as well. Just go on with the topic and not to become a spammer in somehow.

The feelings will be great if you even get one merit. but the rule still holds, make post that are worth merited. learn from others and think of merit later. merit is not gotten on a silver platter. so stop talking about merits because that will earn you non.

Where can I get merit? What's the feeling of having merit?
Merit is the point given to if I had made some constructive and useful post. sMerit is when I receive 2 merit I'll be having 1 sMerit? Correct me if I'm wrong.

One thing I realized for sure - one can't just get merit asking how to get merit...
Roll Eyes Grin RIGHT. When you post means that "You are the one , who knows something thats are useful for forum"
Only then you will be blessed by MERIT . .
honestly study and gather knowledge from every where from forum.
god knows whats on my luck.

Lol, so what you are saying is... noobs aint ever getting love on this forum again. Makes sense.
Not all noobs.  I'd say nullius got a lot of love, and got it really quickly.  If you're not getting your posts merited, the quickest, easiest, laziest, most self-deluded reason to reach for is that everyone else sucks, and that you're being discriminated against somehow, or that people who have merits and rank and trust are part of some cabal, some conspiracy to keep the bitcointalk noob down.  But that's really not the case.

The truth is that so many new accounts here are either 1) Alt accounts of shitposters, or 2) New accounts made by people who heard you can make a decent living posting here, and these are usually the ones who can't write for shit and who probably aren't qualified to do much else than tap their thumbs against their smartphones.

And hey, you can keep complaining that you're not getting merits, but merits are supposed to be a reward for posts people like.  If you're not writing anything people can even understand, why do you think anyone is going to reward you for that?

I think you need improve your writing style and try to avoid participating in signature campaigns. That is why the articles are not rated for quality.

I reached a conclusion about Merit. Merit is a topic that will automatically come when you will be able to get it.
And I go to the profits of those who are getting Merit, and I see why and how they earned their Merit.

By doing quality posts you will get merit but you will have to be very lucky because all the quality posts dont get merited only few one

I think this one just didn't want to let on how they got their Merits. A quick look at their Merit page and trust wall reveals they have an alternative way to get Merit.

You seem to be confused like some other new members as well. There are some members here who have got more merits in comparison to their activity. This translates to more than 1 merit per post and thus you can say that all their posts got merited. Do you call this luck ? If you give them an opportunity on any other forum, they will be able to replicate the same results as many time you want. Now question is that do you have the dedication to improve to that standard ?
