You tried to post your "achievement?" What exactly does that mean? Getting merits is not an achievement - but it might be for those shitposters who are trying hard to catch the eye of merit sources.

It can be frustrating not getting merits here but members who are not much active here should not expect a lot. You have not even made 30 posts here and came to this conclusion. Some members are playing with rules and involved in merit abuse but others have got merits for posting quality content.
If it is frustrating to you then you need to go on a vacation from this forum (eternal vacation would be good for you) otherwise come back to the forum after a month.

What I try is to make quality posts, on-topic posts, meaningful posts, I ignore mega/spam threads. But I never seek for merits and I never asked a merit in any merit giveaway threads. I believe I'll never do it to get merit.
It's true that some high ranked members wasted his/her merits by giving a large number of merits to a single post, if they had given 1-3 maybe I think that was enough. But it's their merits they can use how they want to use.
If you think that connection is everything in regards to merit then make connections with other members, make friends, build a strong relationship with the community. Later you will be able to observe the change may be.

However, honestly I don't think users should master those things, and get master degree in particular, to earn merits. Learning from the forum can help. In the forum, we can find dozens of good topics, and there are lots of knowledgeable users who readily to help and share their knowledge.

- helping other users to solve their problems which they raise in their threads or topics.
- contributing to topics with on-context threads.
Should DONTs:
- spamming, both threads and tooics (of course, and very important)
- exchanging merits (will be found sooner or later) because putting accounts under punishments.
- posting low quality threads in sense of English proficiency.
- posting threads off-contexts.
- plagiarising.

Totally agree with your recommendations on how to get merits. Answering questions with in-context threads. Someone jumps directly to answer questions of topic creators, they don't care about whether the questions in the OPs have been already answered or not. In the case, the OP problems have been answered by someone else in the forum; those threads of hurry users mean non-sense, which so-called as off-context ones. Those off-context threads make readers feel annoying, and really hard to earn merits. Should DOs:

Why don't you search your own? Didn't you read the instruction how to get merit? Since you're a newbie, i suggest you to read the thread which leads to how to get merit. Don't post such thread like this. You will not get merit by posting this.

Looks like this will be a problem to newbies. There are lot of newbies that still didn't know how the Merit System works and keep asking about it which is already prohibited in the forum. . Hmmm I think we should think some ways on how to prevent this Newbie Problems like this. There must be some way to fix this problem because I'm sure that every new Members will also come up in making threads like this.

Its not the forums fault mate. Its them, for not reading. We don't have to make a solution for them to understand the new system unless we will make them prohibitrd from posting. As they can only reply on threads and not on creating threads that may lead to spamming. Let's just report them to the mods and have fun from raising our accuracy on reporting
