Can anyone tell me why this forum does not accept WEBP format images? As seen here only PNG, JPG, JPEG, and GIF format images are accepted. But according to my knowledge, WEBP format images are good for websites. So why is it not acceptable? I personally like SVG format images too. Does the forum accept SVG images?

In addition to the image formats you mentioned above (PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF), as far as I know, several other image formats can be used here, e.g., BMP and APNG.

Support for the WEBP format has been proposed on the Github of SimpleMachines (https://github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF2.1/pull/6271), but it seems that it cannot be realized if you look at the discussion at the following link: https://github.com/SimpleMachines/SMF/issues/6545.

I don't know exactly how urgent the WEBP format is to be implemented on Bitcointalk, considering that this forum still uses an old SMF version (1.1.19).

You need to upload your images to third party image hosting e.g. imgur, imgbb after that you can copy the BBCode and paste it in your post. The other thing the images shouldn't above 2 or 2.5MB because it will not shown/error. This thread Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks might help after you can attach the images.
Good suggestion, but I just want to point out that we may have something better then imgur imgbb now since for sometimes forum members face network challenge with both image hosting sites in the past and we now have a forum dedicated image hosting sites that Bitcointalk members have being using without any recorded breakdown and easy to use by newbies.

talkimg   you can try it out since it is a forum project I advice you use it because it is designed to fit into the forum by building on the already existing challenges of the old image hosting platforms.

I don’t know the main reason, but I am sure it is because it is the most popular and the one people are used to which will make the forum user friendly; we are avoiding anything that will be very complex to the forum users, that is why the forum users are working day by day to provide possible solutions to any complex problem in the forum. The image format been used by this forum is perfect and several image uploading websites gives the link and support the format.

Wow, I didn't know that a member can upload image in this forum, I was thinking that it is only full member up that is allowed to upload image in the forum
only newbies are not allowed to post images but if you want to bypass the restriction you can buy a coppermembership but don't want to bypass the restriction, you'll need to rank up a Jr. member rank, in order for the restriction to be lifted.

anyway, it is a little surprising that you didn't know that when you become a Jr. member you are now allowed to post images, perhaps try reading this thread Newbies - Read before posting if you haven't, it is a pretty useful thread for forum members who are still not very familiar with the forum.

OP, your question is probably too easy to answer for everyone. But the surprising thing is who re-bumped your old post after so long.
A member revived the OP's post after two long years.

Any member can insert images into their posts in our forum. But if a member below junior member adds photo to his post it will not be displayed. After adding a photo to a post, you need to be a junior member to get it displayed. Those who add pictures in the post of the forum may use links to pictures using different sites, but many use talkimg.com to extract and add picture links.
How we can add pictures in the post can be known very easily through this post.
(Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks= https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.37748469)

Yes, you are right this post has been around for a long time ago, also the OP has been inactive on the forum for over ten months. I wasn't even a junior member when I wanted to post my first photo on the forum. But I followed the picture posting guidelines for posting pictures even though I didn't post pictures until I was ranked up. However, I was able to add images to any of my posts using the link you provided. I find Talkimg.com site more useful for uploading images to forums.

How do i insert images within my post? Not a link to an image. I'm pressing the "insert image" button & assumed it would allow me to upload from computer. I also cannot copy/paste an image. All I get is IMG surrounded by brackets.

Actually I don't have any idea about how to upload images, I have been mean to ask this particular question, because I was also finding it very difficult to upload images. you did absolutely well by asking this questions because I have really learnt a lot from this very thread, I just keep wondering that those people who always upload images in there post how do they manage to insert it, that is why is very good to ask questions if there's anything we don't understand.

Personally I use this website talkimg.com to post image. Since your rank (Jr member) you can easily add image to your posts, because adding images requires minimum (Jr member) rank. I will suggest you this website talkimg.com to post with image. Posting image with this website is very easy, so I suggest you to use this website.

And yes after adding the image there are some rules to adjust this image properly in your post. I am providing you a thread from where you will get complete idea about it.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guideline-on-posting-images-with-size-adjustments-hyperlinks-3974517

Read this thread carefully, then you will understand everything very well.

As you are a junior member of the forum you can easily add images to this forum and that image will be visible in the forum. As a newbie member you could add photos to the forum but your photos would not be visible directly.  According to the new update, first you need to enter this link
talkimg.com
and by entering this link you have to upload the picture you want to add to the forum and after uploading you have to extract a link of the picture. After extracting the link, if you copy the link directly and use it in your post, hopefully your image will be visible there.

I don't know if similar thread like this has existed before but I found this very interesting because many may face this issue on how to upload image though after trying this once I don't try again I was of the feeling there is restrictions to newbie on uploading image, not knowing is matter of not using the right source or lacking the required information I commend op on this very question and the solution profer by others but will still ask if there is limit to which newbies will post an image as any with such idea can help in updating.

Being a newbie I was also very confused about this. Whoa it takes some time to go through the rules and understand how to be warmed up. But all's going well now. Everyone was a newbie once  Wink

I don't think other people notice the rank of your account but the newbie account does not allow you to post any images except by pasting the image URL.

Only Jr. Member above can able to insert an image here on the forum (Better read more here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/forum-rankspositionsbadges-what-do-those-shiny-coins-under-my-name-mean-178608) you can also buy Copper member here on the forum to remove the limitation.

But since you already have 1 merit I think sooner you will be Jr. Member and can able to post images.

If you're still considering options Bhig Daddy, may I suggest that you take a look at vgy.me[1]? I've been using it for a while mainly due to this paragraph stated on their Privacy Policy[2]:

Long story short...

We only use your personal information to moderate the website, to remove content that violates our Terms of Service and to ban users who also violate the Terms of Service. Sending of e-mail is triggered by you, the user, when resetting your password or when registering an account with us, where you will receive an activation link via e-mail. We don't send you e-mails for any other reason.

Your IP address is used for moderation to link uploads to the same IP address (we occasionally get users who spam our uploader with hundreds, sometimes thousands of uploads). IP addresses are also logged for us to understand where most of our traffic comes from, so we can provide a better service.

3rd party services who use cookies to store data about your visit is not controlled by us.

If you don't like your information on our site, let us know - we'll get rid of it.
I've also read good feedback of put.re[3] in the past (this seemed to an even better option) but I can't seem to get image upload working on their website. As a note, the above mentioned options are all valid but I would just like to remember you that you should also consider your privacy as a weight in whatever decision you may come up with regarding image uploaders (and many other services that you may end up with!).

Almost everyone here uses Imgur to post images within a post. In case if you are struggling to operate Imgur then you can refer to this guide. To understand what should be the size of an image whithin your post you can refer to this guide. There are certain posting techniques that need to followed here, you can refer to this post for more details.

Imgur.com is the most commonly used website for image uploading on the forum but there are alternatives. You can check them in Bilder im Bitcointalk verwenden.

Advice is don't overuse images because it is annoying when overuse. It takes space in each page, time to scroll up and down, etc. More important, some people who have low Internet access quality, bandwidth will do not like images which reduce their experience and unnecessary consume their bandwith.

Personally, I would recommend using postimages.org website if you were to post any images in the forum. In addition, you must type it manually, for example:
Code:
[img]https://i.postimg.cc/NF9178fH/Screen-Shot-2022-03-27-at-1-17-25-PM.png[/img]

and that code should come out like this:

The reason on why I prefer postimages.org is that you can adjust its size on the website itself, though you can manually do it here.
