I'm genuinely glad to see users trying to learn the functionalities of the forum. I hope to see more of them.

Why am I unsuccessful.
As what aysg76, you can buy also buy copper membership if you need or you want to post images using your account. This membership perks are mostly used by users that introduces and promotes their businesses here. So if you have, it'll also be beneficial to you as you can have the visual representation that you which is essential in marketing a business.

Yes you are right lots of new members need this kind of information and its wonderful to get information quickly from the forum. Helpful content.
You can read these information but I would say that you should not post in such old threads because you see last post is in 2018 which means you are replying to a thread so old and it's not good practice on forum. So avoid doing it otherwise you will violate the forum rules.

Why am I unsuccessful.
As stated for the reasons above by @Rikafip you lag the 1 merit requirement to become junior member although you have gained enough activity for it but not merits so work on it if you want to post images.Or if you really want to post images then you can have Copper Membership which will allow you to post images instantly. But if you write quality post learning on the forum you will automatically get more then 1 merit and can post images.

Why am I unsuccessful.
Because you are still Newbie rank and to share images you need to be at least Jr Member. In this topic you can find what are actual requirements for each rank (for Jr Member you need 3 more activity and 1 merit).

2: sign up a account https://imgur.com
In fact you don't have to create an account. You can upload images as a guest.

When the image is uploaded, you don't have to refresh the page just click the 3 dots button and copy the bbcode link.

I don't think the image shows directly here on the forum. Cause I have tried it, but it doesn't work, I only post the link to the image. Creating an account is kind of difficult, I don't know why.

I always have trouble with gifs and imgur before I found out about giphy. It turns it into mp4 and then it is useless here on forum. Giphy does a great job.
Recently I tried to re-upload the gif image in Imgur, here are the results:

Code:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/GYPj3LK.gif[/img]
Original link: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/115000201483/wellthereitis.jpg
Reference: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000083326-What-files-can-I-upload-What-is-the-size-limit-

Several conditions must be considered when uploading a gif file in Imgur. Please check the reference link that I listed above.

Also, you can use the Giphy too if you want to add GIF because if you are trying to use the imgur for uploading some GIF and try to make a preview right here on our forum it doesn't support it just gives you an error code or an invalid syntax. With the use, if Giphy they have BBcode supported too but AFAIK you must need to create an account and I think it's not hard. I hope I give you some information too.

Also, you can use TinyPNG[1] to prevent having a large file and to have a good and aesthetic preview to our forum.
If the image you want to post in the forum is too large, the best solution is resize that image. Smaller sized image requires less bandwith and gives better page loading for people who have low internet connection or has limitations with their monthly data.

  • If it is unnecessary to upload images, it is better to ignore images.
  • If you have to resize an image, try to use apps rather than use online image resize websites.

Our forum support with the use of BBcode(Bulletin Board Code)is commonly used for PHP language the reason is it's usually for Text-based forums like the Scratch Forums.

If you are trying to look the BBcode and HTML has the same syntax but the difference is their open and closed tags

[ ] [/] - BBcode
< > - HTML

Does this also work with other forums?? The bbcode? I am trying to upload an image for the thread I am creating and it is pretty important for the users to see the image.
So will this bbcode work elsewhere too? I am pretty clueless about this.

Thanks for this help.

Several forums use BBcode, and each have their different dialect. This is a Simple Machines Forum so you need to check the Simple Machine Forums BBcode dialect, as certain subtle things change.

But for posting images, the [IMG][/IMG] tag works fine across them all (if you are allowed to post images to begin with). Do however expect forum moderation to size down the images, don't be alarmed when this happens, they usually like them 200px wide or so, sometimes less.

BBCode is usually used on CMS* in the form of forums, and until now there are still many who use BBCode.

*
A CMS or a 'Content Management System' quite literally allows you to control and manage the content within your web site - without technical training. Using this uncomplicated system you can very easily add, delete images and edit text in your web site on the fly.

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
As you may notice, the Direct Link and BBcode Link is almost the same. Meaning, you can use it here as long as you know the code. This info could help you just in case there is no available BBcode Link on other picture uploading sites. Another tip, you can also make your image clickable so there's no need to include the reference of it. You can use this to make your post more appealing and neat. Sometimes too many urls are very unpleasant to our eyes, you know what I mean Smiley. Here's an example format:

Code:
[url=https://bitcointalk.org][img]https://i.imgur.com/lUr20xA.jpg[/img][/url]

Thank you @OP, if I may add:
First. You need jr.member rank or more
Or you can buy a copper membership from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

2: sign up a account https://imgur.com
In fact you don't have to create an account. You can upload images as a guest.

4: wait a minutes and f5 page
When the image is uploaded, you don't have to refresh the page just click the 3 dots button and copy the bbcode link.

Yes you have the option to upload as a guest but I prefer uploading with an account so you can keep files in case you lose the url of the image and you want to retrieve it, but there are a lot of good alternatives for Imgur.

I was searching why my images are not showing, only to figure out that I need to have increased rank. Thanks.
Being now a Jr. Member, you can post images.

Simply follow what is stated in the OP, and then adjust size and position in your post.

For example, use this and replace my png with yours:
Code:
[center][img width=800 height=500]https://i.imgur.com/bzRiuO6.png[/img][/center]

Adding image on bitcointalk must contain this BbCode
Code:
[img][/img]
If there's no IMG and /IMG the image won't be shown after you click post. The image link must end with image format like jpeg and png.

This guide has been discussed in the forum more than hundred times. I think next time if you're going to do a guide for new members, do it after that you used the search function.

Your intentions are good, (however try to avoid those bounty walls) I will added few threads where you can find more details regarding Insert image function in BB Codes.
