I have all my coins in on an online trading site (paxful) (low volume)

I plan on making a large investment very soon, and want to safely store all of my coins
I.E I basically want to drop a couple thousand, and keep them in the safest possible way, where I can revisit them in 5-10 years or so and reap the benefits, or cry about the loss.

What is the best way to do this, and what's the best way of ensuring a backup?

How do you currently store your coins

thanks in advance for any inputs

I've heard a lot of people say they do not store their coins on an online storage platform , I currently do store mine online though but it's a risk tho, because if you're hacked you can't regain your money back , I've heard guys talk about paper or offline wallet before really don't know how it works but you can sure check out articles on it and see if it suits you

So far I've accumulated in bitcoin, I kept it for a while. I'm preparing for large-scale investments, the kind I can earn a lot of money. I'm also waiting for the value of bitcoin money to rise, so I love to accumulate a lot of coins in bitcoin. Bitcoin has helped me a lot, and now I hope that it will help me more, given this help to me Smiley. It's hard to get together because you have the idea that you want it to spend, but if you know how to control yourself? you will be able to have high and large amounts of money Smiley.

I don't support online wallet. though paxfull is trusted but i am going to suggest you to use core wallet. Because core wallet always safe and online wallet can be hacked or they can stop their services any time.In that result you will loose all of your coin.So don't store your coin in exchanger or online.Just use it when you need
Why you don't? All wallet I encountered in crypto currency society have a good and trusted background, if you experience anything problems in your wallet. I think the problems is in yours. As per I experience all wallet in crypto currency industry are fully secured, so I have no doubt even I put high amount in any wallet I have.

I keep my Bitcoins in blockchain.info and in Bittrex exchange.
However, for sake of my project purposes, I need to open extra safe browser-based multi-wallet, where I can easily control private keys and keep them offline.

Is blockchain.info considered an exchange wallet? I'm using some exchanges but want to move to a safer online option. Do you think this would be a good option?

I dont advice to hold your hard earned bitcoin in online wallet. If you want to use exchanges go to bittrex,poloniex,c-cex and other exchanges.Safe way to hold your bitcoin is desktop and paper wallets.
Blockchain not including exchange sites dude. blockchain.info is an online wallet. honestly I myself use a local exchange to store all my bitcoin because it will certainly be much easier when you want to sell your bitcoin because you can directly install your order. for security luckily local exchange in my country support with sms verif. so it makes my bitcoin very safe and never stolen

I store all my coins in my wallet. For me I keep an external hard disk that I seldom use, that way the wallet files inside will not be affected, I also keep a copy of my wallet in my own laptop. I also worry about the safety of my coins.

However I shop my bitcoin on on the internet wallet (blockchain most if it), but thanks to this forum that manufactured me to understand that it is not protected and obtaining a desktop or paper wallet is better. Even now attempting to decipher which to use even though.

Since you are talking about long term holding without planning to access your funds daily, erasing all online wallets as a potential choices goes without saying. Your best bet would be a hardware wallet (Ledger Nano S for instance) or an offline one, stored on your PC, which is advised to not have it connected on the internet. At the same time, keeping a backup of the wallet.dat file is advised.

Never keep your coins on an exchange. Use a hardware wallet (or paper wallet if you're hard core) for your savings account/major balances. I highly recommend the Ledger Nano S.

To be honest, I don't understand why is a hardware wallet the go-to bitcoin storage of people nowadays. Maybe it's just some hype that the sellers of this product has created because truthfully, it's just the same as a USB drive. The hardware wallet generates a wallet for you. You can do that with your computer by installing Electrum or anything similar. And then the hardware wallet saves the wallet for you and let's you enter the password (or maybe even 2FA, I don't really own one to know). How is that even different from a flash drive with the Electrum.exe and the wallet files in there? I think it doesn't really have any difference. Even if they copy the wallet file, they can't just get to it especially if it's 2FA activated. It's all the same. The only thing that you shouldn't use are exchangers, online wallets, or anything that requires your bitcoin to be held by the website itself.
