depends for me if im investing in a new coin i dont hodl them for too long but if its in btc and top cryptos i dont mind hodling them for too long even if i already saw them pumping because i know that they can continue doing it for a longer time  .
being greedy is not only when you hodl for too long but i feel that im greedy because i sold early on some of my coins thinking that i will lose .

I have a simple trick when I have to sell, or I try to sell when I have something accumulated, the strategy is as follows:

See the market and determine in what stage of the market it is, if it is in the Distribution stage it is sold (this is when millionaires sell) it is always good to sell when millionaires do and buy when millionaires buy, it is the only way out with market success. In addition to realizing in what stage of the market I am applying Wyckoff's theory, for me at this moment the BTC is in an initial bullish stage, and it still needs to be developed, right now if I had BTC I would not sell BTC, not even because it comes out Elon Musk in conjunction with another celebrity doing FUD.

You can actually Know how to sell if you manage to learn some tools like technical analysis. Those indicators that you tend to understand like Bollinger Bands , RSI, etc. Some of them has closing marks, crossed lines, etc. That can be a sign for you to sell or to buy.

Or if you dont have any TA and a simplr trader who rely on the market price, sell off your altcoins in your profit goal. Like for example setting up 5-10% profit and when the market hit that goal, sell it off.

You, I and anyone else will never meet the maximum profit, no trader really manages to sell at the peak on pumped coins unless it's luck and accident.
TA is useless if emotions dominate your trading. So let the TA do the most of the work and decide. That will help you set profit targets.
Yes, that's right we don't meet the maximum profit that what we wanted because of how volatile the market is. TA does help the works to easily spot the right time to sell you just have to put a limit to your expectations and proceed to gain profit if you have the chance to trade it.

Being greedy will cause a trader to lose concentration and it's a normal cause that someone will be controlled by their emotions. So always put a limit to what you are expecting and proceed to gain what you could have. You will be thankful that you didn't fall to the greedy side.

When the price hits the peak and RSI hits the overbought, it's best to sell but some are just trying to make more money by waiting for it to really go way up high and end up losing instead. Call it greed but they sometimes just don't sell because they believe holding is going to make them more money. Not realizing its going to make them wait for long period of time before it could go up again.

I know its an individual thing, but if you are in an alt and it is pumping...when is the best time to sell? I feel as though every-time I am in a coin that starts to make some good gain I leave it to long to sell..Anyone else do that. I heard it is because of greed, we star imagining all things we can do with our new profits, but the longer we leave it the more chance of not making good profits. Does anyone have a good strategy for knowing when to sell?
Actually, there's no way to know when to sell because ever since crypto price movement is always unpredictable.  But you can always have your own research in that way on how good that project coin you're holding on to.  Because usually, altcoins followed Bitcoin price movement, so there's no way to predict them not unless there's a group manipulating them through pump and dump.

However, if you want to sell high with your desire profit, you can bid that in the trusted market exchange with the high price compared to the current price and come back once it is sold.  That's my strategy when I want to sell my token, at least I know where to cut my profit and yes, there's no need to be greedy at all than nothing.

If it is really pumped, maybe i will sell in 10-30% and get my capital back. And save the rest i mean about rest of my profit in that altcoin, maybe still pumped i can get more profit with it. If not, and i sell it when price back, maybe it is only reduce my profit and at least my capital already safe.

i think that is a good method for getting back your money and staying in safe zone, but talking about most of the people become the victims of greed and they keep on holding and holding so unfortunately majority can't get their expected money.
by the way my method for trading is that, if i get my expected profit then i withdraw my money and do not care about more pump.

If I see that many of the traders in the exchange platform I would surely cut at least 30 to 50% of my assets to sell it for sure.
Though, I'm not using any of the Technical analysis even others knows that this is not accurate due to the market was to volatile and
unpredictable.

^ Altcoin holding is not profitable in a long term especially those new projects listed on an exchange, if you are going to ask me when to sell. I am going to sell with the desired amount that I can get and you are right, there is no need to be more greedy on getting profit, sometimes you need to decide when is the perfect time of selling your crypto asset. As long as you did not sell under the price where did you bought your coin, and you get profit. That is all right if you will sell but sometimes DYOR will be made us in a correction decision, if you think they are not worth it hold, it is up to you.

Usually I set up the goal for every trading I make. For example if I do day trading then I set up the goal for loss = 10% and then profit for 20%. The number could be changed if we are in alt season like today. You may think that you can loss potential profit if you make the goal like that, but that doesn't matter for me because that's my own decision.

Every trader sets a limit. When the coins hits his target he will sell his coins. Do not get greedy when you see that the coin you have invested in is pumping. Just set a target a nd sell the coin. Also see the market trends, usually after a  few weeks of pump you will see a slight market correction. Trust your gut feeling.

there are some useful indicators for that mate,  and i highly recommend to watch some videos especially in YouTube, because to be honest there's a bunch of traders nowadays who's already made a back testing to some indicators and have proofs that it's very accurate when it comes hodling short term or longterm / buying and selling in the right time.  Its good to watch than reading mate, because you know what's the difference ..  Indeed its good when it comes video tutorial because its very informative and you can easily follow the steps ..

First of all, never leave it long to sell. That's not a strategy, that's a death wish. Most of the alts will be pumping and dumping. Don't think that alts will keep on pumping like Bitcoin. The best strategy is to start selling once it reaches 2-3x of your buy price.

My strategy on selling my coin is simple; I try to speculate future value of my coin from the moment I make the first buy ( I could buy more considering the project is progressing) I use the supply, the utility , the technology and community to judge my specuoated value. And once my price target is met! I sell without looking back or forward to better pricing!

To be honest, I also missed the opportunity to sell some alt yesterday, and now hope the price can return to yesterday's price.
however, because of this, I think that no one really knows when prices are really high. Besides, I think when prices are really high, not everyone will sell, and some people still expect high prices or haven't hit their targets. to be honest, yesterday's price increase has not reached my target, but looking at the current price, I feel that the price is enough. Right now, I don't know if the price will go up or not, but it seems the right time to sell is when you have made a big profit.

There is no good strategy about selling because you will not know whether it will go north or sideways. All you can do is take the profit whenever you see one.
That's trading. You don't cling to the coin or the project, you are like the devil that could move part of the market and holders will hate you sometimes.
Long term trading is a difficult to handle, there will always be greed like you said but if you have a plan and focus on that, then you might earn a substantial amount of profit from it.
But it's not an easy way. You may have to blind yourself for months just so you wouldn't see the volatility. It could be dumped where you will panic or will be pumped where you get greedy.

I actually do a simple trick with it .I just set a price where i really wanna sell my coin i don't get panicked after it and i never ever forget to set my stop loss .Fortunately i never fall to touch and hit the stop loss .Its  because i never buy any shitcoin which can pump within a second and get lost within second .I wait patiently after entering the market and hold my nerve until i get my goal .

To sell at High, of course. But the question is when?
In that case, it was an individual decision. It is a need for us to analyze the market so well and think we become lucky to sell it at the highest price before it falls.

I certainly can't tell you nor someone could tell that. The only thing I can suggest to you is not to be greedy, having 5-10% was enough for me.
You have to set a target price when to sell, this will help you to determine when to sell.

Well it depends on the type of coin you're holding, the profit margin you want to get and what the market is doing at the time, and whether holding it longer will realistically be in your favour of holding.

As a rule of thumb, try to get out when you can be happy with x amount of profit, and if no profit at all then you might need to think if you should still sell at a loss or continue to hold. And, yes, don't get greedy if you can make a healthy profit - take it!
