Bitcoin is the pioneering cryptocurrency and hence the most popular one among the crypto community. Most of the crypto exchanges offer Bitcoin as one of the cryptocurrencies in the trading pairs available on their platform. Furthermore, fiat to crypto gateways accept only a handful of cryptocurrency pairs that include Bitcoin as one.

So, someone who does not hold any cryptocurrency and wants to buy altcoins, he will have to buy either of the primary cryptocurrencies. Google search results reveal that Bitcoin is the most searched one among the four primary cryptocurrencies.

When the same person wants to sell his altcoins, he will have to exchange them against one of the primary cryptocurrencies for fiat.

This proves that the crypto investments are linked to Bitcoin some way or the other.

The price of Bitcoin is also considered as the gold standard because the crypto market is quite new.

In a speculative market, free market psychology is pretty much like a herd which if follows the notion that Bitcoin price is affecting the altcoin prices, the rest will blindly follow.

Bitcoin price crash induces panic in the crypto community. However, a surge in price attracts everyone to rush towards Bitcoin affecting the price of altcoins.

Spoofing also causes the altcoins suffer a similar trend as Bitcoin.

I have recently been into altcoin trading. I just want to know, does the price of bitcoin affect the price of other cryptocurrencies as well? How? I really want to know. I have noticed that ever since the bitcoin price pumped up and reached 4,000 USD, the price of the altcoins had gone really really low. I almost lost my invesment due to this sudden drop. Does bitcoin price have something to do with this?

Bitcoins greatly affect the crypto because the majority of the bitcoin is bitcoin, which accounts for more than 70%, and as a result, as bitcoin go up and down, it is less affected by other types of crypto. Therefore, when the BTC up or down, it also affects other types of Cryptocurrency.

Alts will bleed sats for awhile, BTC will outperform most alts as BTC value and market dominance increases.Once BTC levels out and starts trading sideways again, alts will come rushing back, outperforming BTC with a vengeance like they did at several points last year. It has happened before, it will happen again.

BTC is the top coin being traded for other alts in terms of market cap, volume, and general popularity, it is thus at the center of the crypto economy and has some gravity behind it.

Yes, I think that is true if bitcoin prices affect other coin prices, if bitcoin rises, of course, followed by coin prices that also rise, if bitcoin goes down the other coins will follow, like this bitcoin can be said to be the mother of all coins

Bitcoin is the floor where all he building then constructed so whenever there is a problem in the floor the whole building shrinks and not only in this but in the world other currencies also affected with one another and it is fact that when bitcoin price show movements other crypto comes after this, and now a days the whole market is stopped due to stability in the price of bitcoin.

Most of Altcoins are depending on Bitcoins so that when any news or decision affecting bitcoin than Altcoins also affect it in short altcoins are like dependent children of Father(Bitcoin).

Hmm. Haven't we seen Bitcoin trading sideways for the last 5 months or so? We have been stable from $6000-$7000 range but I don't see your whole argument of alts rushing back. On the contrary, they have suffered the worst while bitcoin dominance continue to rise and the price becomes stable so there's something wrong with your argument here.

I think even though altcoin is strong, it can not compete with bitcoin, and it depends quite a bit on the altcoin, which can be seen in the fact that when the bitcoin price drops sharply the price of altcoin drops dramatically.

Isn't it glaring enough that $Bitcoin is "ALL CRYPTO"? How else do we make it clear to some people that $Bitcoin is dorminating the market by well over 50%, what does this tell anyone?? That the market can't survive if $Bitcoin dies!!! Whenever $Bitcoin is attacked, all alts go into panick mode, with prices plummeting beyond imagining! $Bitcoin is like a Detonate button! If its pushed by FOMO it baloons unimaginably and if pushed by FUD everyone gets hit! In terms of popularity?? People hear $Bitcoin before any other!! Thats how $Bitcoin controls everybody and the market with the alts suffering an after shock!!

bitcoin is the main currency in cryptocurrency and is the leader of altcoins. so that the rise and fall of bitcoin prices will affect the altcoin. because altcoin is used to buy bitcoin and bitcoin is usually used to fund altcoin operations. when bitcoin rises, altcoin also rises otherwise when bitcoin drops, altcoin also drops and now bitcoin is stagnant, so most of altcoin is also stagnant. so bitcoin is the center of the crypto currency. like dollars in fiat money.

of course, it's very influential, just look at when the price of Bitcoin up to $ 20,000/coin then all prices of Altcoin go rise too, and when the price of Bitcoin goes down, all the prices of the cryptocurrency go down too. so, the rise and down of the price of Bitcoin will greatly affect the price of all cryptocurrency...

Bitcoin is the  leads the altcoins in both price and market cap. This is the reason why the price of bitcoin will always impacted on the altcoins. It is a facts that once there is a price dip in the market for bitcoins it will affect the price of the altcoins and vice versa. Every altcoins is taken out of the bitcoin concept and this account why you cannot separate the except the name and value. Bitcoin is the clear leader among the two under examinations .

The main reason of other Crypto getting Affected by Bitcoin price is due to that everyone is holding altcoins to increase their Bitcoin investment. As everyone knows that We all trade altcoin and earn profit in Bitcoins so our Bitcoins volume is increasing and when Bitcoin price is increasing everyone start selling their altcoin and convert it to bitcoin so that they can sell in bitcoin high price.

This is the reason why crypto is getting affected by Bitcoin and even it is mostly valued by Bitcoin pair only.
