I was just reading some articles on the web and upon every scroll, there was this gambling ad belonging to a casino that just displays, sometimes even covering parts of the text of the article i was reading, then at some point, i began to imagine myself as a gambling addict who is struggling to quit or reduce my gambling habit, and going online and seeing Ads of different kinds from different casinos, would this Ads lure the gambler back into gambling notwithstanding that he or she is trying to stop ?

I personally liken this to some one who is addicted to porn and masturbation, and really wants to stops, but just by scrolling the pages of his Facebook or Instagram account and saw some naked women, which triggers the urge to do it again at that time. Grin

If this continues to happen again and again, do you think such a person will ever leave such a habit?

And another question is, if you are addicted to gambling and wants to quit but discovers that seeing gambling Ads on the internet is one of the triggers that lures you into gambling again, is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
We know that such ads can have a very detrimental effect to the people that are trying to leave their gambling addiction behind, however it is almost impossible for this to stop and I will explain why, as we know companies like Goggle create a profile of each person that uses their services, and since they want you to keep using their services then they show ads of stuff in which you were interested before, so a gambling addict which is trying to recover will have to see way more gambling ads than the average person, something which could eventually lead him to gamble again, and this shows once again why it is so important to be allowed some level of privacy online as targeted advertising can be a terrible thing under the incorrect circumstances.

If a gambler is trying to stay away from gambling and it feels hard, it wouldn't help that he/she is seeing gambling ads every now and then. It is actually a challenge for a gambler to stay away from gambling especially if gambling is right there in front of him/her calling him/her out to come back.

If you liken it to porn, I could liken it to smoking. It is really hard for somebody who tries to stay away from smoking if he's always hanging out with friends who smoke and even offer him a stick every now and then.

But staying away from the internet to avoid seeing gambling ads is almost impossible to do. That's too much I guess.

I'm guessing how ads are shown is dependent upon which country/nation it is shown in.  Here in the United States with most ads also featured is some sort of "if you or someone you know is addicted to gambling, get help by calling xxx-xxx-xxxx" or something like that.

I'm not sure ads alone are enough to really trigger someone.  If the gambling possibility is out there for you, I'm sure you know it and ad's aren't really going to sway your opinion.

That's very possible with how casinos are easily accessible these days and it's always easy for a former gambler to go back to gambling.

For the second question, even though that problem is going on for a long time anyone can break their habit as long as the person is really focused on changing.

The last question is also possible but I think with how the internet is slowly getting involved with our lives it might not be easy or the best solution for some people.

Gambling ads doesn't make big impact over a gambler. Because, whatever the ad might be, everything will have similar content. So it won't be that interesting or makes us into it. Why we get back to gambling when we have plans to stop it. This is the failure to control our minds as well as the emotions that push us to give a try.

From a gambler's perspective like me, gambling advertisements in every article don't work.
But I don't really know how a gambling addict will react to it or what he will feel whenever he sees those.

Your underlined example is good and it made me realize that temptation might really come from what we see on the internet. Ads or other kinds of stuff.
We see food, we suddenly get hungry even though we just finished our meal.
Motorcycle parts ads will also urge those hobbies are motorcycles to purchase.
So, I am going with yes, it might be affecting gambling addicts.
Ad blocker is a good solution. Browser restrictions like it's for kids, and parental control so 18+ ads will go away.

Gambling houses may or may not take responsibilities for a cure for gambling addiction but their ads will only make the addiction problem worse because ads are too lucrative. If you want to stop gambling then what can help you is rehabilitation, some meds, or seek a help from the professional but if the addiction isn't that severe then you can try to self medicate first.

Block gambling related sites or if possible stay away from the places where you can see gambling stuffs like for example in this forum because many signatures here are from a gambling company. I know it is hard but if you know that it is for your own good then I know that you can do it. Just believe in yourself and team it up with a prayer.

In fact, you can easily get rid of intrusive ads. To do this, you need to install one of the ad blockers on your computer and create new accounts that are not related to gambling. This will minimize the receipt of gambling advertisements.

But I don't think that's the point at all. I have always said that if a gambling addict wants to quit gambling, he must stop using the Internet for a while and stop talking to friends who play gambling. He should try to find a hobby that gives him pleasure.

When we say addicted then I am gonna assume the severe stage of it so obviously can't resist from doing it and that is what the addiction which certainly need help from others which can be rehab or medicine or camp, whatever that makes the person to stay away from it completely and meanwhile teaching more about others and what the addiction caused to you and the family if there is may change the mentality of the person.
Before you do able to touch up these things then it would really be that surely common that you wont really be needing the help of others when we do talk about quitting addiction or any related problems
attached to it since you could actually solve out things on your own.Just make yourself realized that you are been addicted on it and quitting could possibly be ended up by ones self.
Speaking about quitting, then you should really make yourself able to avoid all sorts of things which is connected with gambling so that you would really be effectively able to
quit up and dont get tempted or drolled all over again once you've seen these things.

Of course I can give examples but keep in mind that breaking bad habits is generally difficult and very difficult for those who are chronic and may take a long process depending on serious intentions to do so, gambling advertising is not to blame because advertising has become a strategy to attract people and not care if it's addict or new.
You can skip the ads or you can ignore any gambling associated with redirecting them, and I think if you do that as often as possible. And I'm sure you can get through it and come back with seriousness and consistency in living it and have a sincere intention to never return to the world of gambling and also be accompanied by a professional person.

actually the desire to stop gambling has become the initial capital to be able to stop being an addict, so why do we have to control our emotions in gambling because if we can control our emotions of course we can control our thoughts and desires to gamble again

After all, as long as we can change our mindset, we gamble just to have fun, not to make money. I think changing that mindset will help too that sometimes people usually gamble because they are curious to win a lot of money and not for fun, so just changing our mindset seems like we can stop. become addicts, so there is no need to stay away from the internet either because it is good if we divert to something else on the internet that is more positive will help us also avoid addiction

That's the problem once you are in the system. The demographic that you have and the tracers that you have would lead to something you are interested in. We all know that our phones constantly listen to us whether we are conversing with people, especially the things we want and mention while we are near our phones. That's just going to be always the situation for sure.

It's a problem, social media, and if you make it easy to be attracted or lured to what is destroying you, it will lead to you being down. I hope you can recover and avoid it if you know that is what is currently happening to you.

However, it seems to me. this case and the equations you are comparing are on a different level.
I can understand what you are saying in this post regarding advertisements in articles. at least, we also have the same thing in relation to advertisements every time we open articles or websites that partner with advertising service providers. however, basically the ads that will be displayed on the articles you read come from query information on your device, although not entirely so, there are also random ones.

Speaking of addiction, this is really something of a dilemma. but in this case, it seems that we cannot conclude and compare to everyone who is addicted. because after all without intention and determination, a person will still have a strong drive even though there is no trigger.

I personally liken this to some one who is addicted to porn and masturbation, and really wants to stops, but just by scrolling the pages of his Facebook or Instagram account and saw some naked women, which triggers the urge to do it again at that time. Grin

I'm not interested in commenting on this one.

As has been said before, even without a trigger factor, someone who has been addicted, will return to do the same things. as far as I'm concerned, fun things are hard to stop. most cases of addiction, be it drugs or gambling addicts. seems difficult to fully recover.
To be honest, I am one of those gambling addicts. "formerly" however, over time, I have had my understanding more broadly. for now, gambling betting is just part of the fun entertainment and nothing more.

It is easy to do if you want to exclude yourself from gambling, for these 2 things are needed,a one time self ban that you cannot be un-banned and this option should be included in the most reputable casinos as a first remedy.

This of course does not solve the ads problem,in here you can use software that prohibit you gambling sites,or any site that contain gambling ads to be reached, for this you of course need another person to set it up and who does not give you the password, nor have you any possibility to uninstall it,once these implementations are into place I think anyone who really wants to quit can quit gambling without problems.

Casinos tries to help gambling addicted people? That is something I do not read usually Cheesy This looks like an example of yellow journalism imho. Police helps criminals to commit crime, doctors proke people to do crazy things, dentists telling that candies and sweets are good, firefighters support selling matches and gasoline to kids. Why should casinos even help gambling addicted people? They are their most loyal clients.

That looks hard to eschew if we still live on the internet where there are a lot of attractive ads and offers to addicted people that make coming again to the gambling world. but, they can avoid that with restraint by clicking the button or turning away by playing games like gambling. In this same situation, if people are addicted to masturbation, the solution is married (instead of paying prostitutes daily to avoid venereal disease).

is it possible for you to stay away from the internet until you are sure you've completely healed from that addiction?
The internet is full of all kinds of useful information or vice versa, which can benefit us or even harm us.
It is very possible for people who are addicted from gambling to be triggered to return to gambling when they see gambling advertisements that appear because these advertisements are shown for that purpose to attract people to play addict or not, and advertisements cannot filter only those who are not addicted can see the ads.
Compared to avoiding internet access, actually looking for ways to get rid of addiction by attending therapy and so on will be better because if it has not been cured everything will be able to trigger him to return to gambling, for example while being together with friends and friends talking about gambling then it can make him become curious and return to gambling.
You can also use an adsblocker so that when you access online sites you won't see any ads or setting content filters on your social media accounts.

Addiction is a great issue and should be treated as such. Addiction in any form shouldn't be a thing to hide, if you notice  you're getting addicted to something, please seek for counselling.
Addiction is something that has grown to an habit and once something is an habit, it wouldn't be easy to leave such.
Most people actually could get to handle this themselves while the other wouldn't find it easy and if you notice this in someone, try as much as possible to counsel the fellow.

Popped up ads is another great factor that enhances gambling, especially for first timers because the ads that usually pops up most times, are very enticing and captivating and most of the bonuses if not all will be sampled with lots of great wins even jackpots winnings.

Staying off the internet wouldn't help rather a counselor should be hired.
