The amount of tokens you get for watching advertisements is actually very little and you will have to do this for months before you will have enough to actually do something with it. I see you can sell them on Coinbase and trade for other coins, so that is a good.  Cheesy

The other option is to buy gift cards : https://giftcards.bidali.com/buy-giftcards-with-basic-attention-token/ but I have not tried it yet. This is a great idea, but I doubt if it is going to take off with the limited exposure that it is getting in only a few countries.  Roll Eyes

After installation, Brave gives you a small amount of unwithdrawable BAT mainly for you to test out by giving to publishers/websites(and not for withdrawal). If your country is already supported, you can then activate Brave Rewards via the settings, and can earn withdrawable BAT from there by simply viewing ads that are displayed when you're randomly surfing the web.

Note that withdrawing the BAT you've earned through Brave Rewards requires you to send KYC info to Uphold. Just a heads up.

Look like they now stopped giving rewards.

I got some reward just past week. It was my first reward deposited into uphold. To small to withdraw:)

I guess they are, the community has welcomed this browser very much and those rewards purpose is for the promotion.

Now that they've been known and considered by many users to be one of the safest and best browsers, I don't think that they'll continue their reward system.

If you want BAT Rewards from Brave Browser, you need to register as publisher and do KYC. Next connect your website or youtube channel to your Publisher Account.
Then send your token in your Website/Youtube Channel that connected to your Publisher Account.
Your token will received every Month after you send it and you can move to your ERC Wallet.
I did registered as publisher but didn't go through the KYC so I think that's the reason why I think that I'm not receiving the BATs.  Undecided

I believe the BAT you currently have is of the test variety which they want you to give to publishers, or just hold. You'll need to turn on their rewards which basically means you are able to see ads everywhere around your browser, in exchange for BAT.

BAT doesn't ever run out if it's earnt via the system from what I've learned. I'd still personally not use the browser rewards, you get barely any rewards for a lot of annoying ads. Chrome with Ublock is superior for me.

Also, keep in mind brave recently added the addition of KYC to their wallets and browser, which is another reason why I'm no longer using them.

BAT token is intended to reward the author or the website owner, so in this case, the owner of the website can continually publish or help grow their pages.

So other people, creates their own page or web sites, and reward their self a BAT token.

the idea of Brave browser was great and the project started out with a bang but little by little they added bad things to their project. starting with limitations they put on people who could use their payment system, then the ICO and their token. they all made things more centralized and distanced it from the great project it started out to be.
and finally with the addition of KYC they shot themselves in the foot. i made a topic about it recently here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/brave-the-so-called-privacy-browser-now-requires-kyc-5170928

That’s dumb if they just expire or can only tip developers.
And annoying if you have to keep on withdrawing your earnings from watching ads and from referrals.

I am not a fan of all Brave browser reward system that have many countries excluded from ads rewards.
Better alternative is BitTube browser, where your rewards does not expire and you can control adblocker much better.
How long have you been using BitTube browser?
Can you share your experience like browsing speed and RAM usage?

BitTube is based on Firefox,
I have been using extension for long time, and it is based on great uBlock extension ad blocjer.

Recently they released full Firefox forked browser...so it is using similar like Firefox browser

It would be nice from you to put a link to the list of brave's restricted vountries? And if possible tell us what should be the reasons behind this restriction. Thx

You can freely download and use Brave literally in any country. The restriction is just for the brave rewards, which I think is mostly because of unclear regulations on most countries besides the countries they already support. But then again, you can use Brave today. It's a good browser with it's privacy features. Pretty much Google chrome that's not going to hog your data.

I know that, but reason is only financial and monetary  Tongue

I also don't like that I can NOT control what ads are blocked and what not... or change list of blocked sites,
add custom rules, and few other things

According to this blog https://brave.com/brave-ads-launch/, they have launched to five countries namely:
  • U.S.
  • Canada
  • France
  • Germany
  • U.K

The reason? Only Brave knows. Maybe, they noticed majority of ad consumers are from these countries and they want to concentrate on these markets.

Yeah, those are big markets so obviously they focused on that, but  according to Brave they will spread to other markets and countries too, latin America is announced later this year.

What I do know is that some BATs may expire from free grants but the BAT you get from ads / transfers from your wallet has no expiration date

Look like they now stopped giving rewards.

To me , look like browser itself is a wallet as it have some master key (that is asked to be stored at safe place). Actually I use it just for playing one of game, is it can be reason that all my rewards are donatable to publisher. I did not still used it for normal surfing.

You really won't earn any BAT unless you don't manually turn on Brave Rewards. It's turned off by default. Again, the 4 BAT you received are specifically given for you to donate to publishers and nothing else regardless of what your intention is on using their browser.

Following along. I just downloaded it a few days ago and am only at 1.5 BAT I was under the impression you could send them to a different wallet. Maybe I was wrong. That’s dumb if they just expire or can only tip developers.
