I think that one of these will cause our doom: a Virus, Aliens or a Solar Storm.

Why Aliens? I don't buy it. Plenty of opportunity to have done it by now and we're still here.

Solar Storm is a very good one. In 1859 there was a solar storm so powerful the aurora borealis (or the northern lights) was visible from Cuba. Telegraph posts caught fire. Imagine what a storm like that could do to your mining rig  Smiley

I do not know which end of the world has biggest percentage, but I know that we are very irresponsible to our planet and all creatures on it. If you ask me we are so unpredictable that we can avoid every disaster, but also we can create every disaster, so haha I am not sure. I hope just that we will be better to our planet and to all creatures in close future.
The reason we're not more responsible is because when we evolved it was much more important to take short-term decisions. But evolution has not been able to keep up with technological advancements. Therefore we don't take the decisions that's best for humanity long term.

Most likely the sun will burn out, or it will explode (that's if we don't kill ourselves faster).

Known answer to this. Fried up as the Sun expands. Next science question.

Time is on our side, yes it is!
Think positive and enjoy life..  As far as I'm aware you only get one so don't waste time focusing on the bad, life is good.

Some possibilities in order of likelihood:

- Asteroid/celestial object
- Nuclear winter brought about from wars resulting from dwindling resources in the distant future
- Worldwide drought
- Unable to figure out how to get close to the speed of light by the time our sun expands

So many things can go wrong. In the end we probably die from something nobody expect. Things ends always like that.

I think humans won't survive but the earth will   Grin
I agree with you!We as humans destroy ourselfs and the environment every second, but this planet know how to regenerate itself  ,so in the end "the world" will end but the planet Earth will survive.

Why would the viruses evolve where there are almost no people? Doesn't it usually evolve where there are to many of a specie?

Because the viruses infect other organisms also, not only humans.

Take for example the case of the Ebola virus. The virus was actually confined to a few remote caves in a gorge, where no large living creatures except the bats lived. As a part of the human encroachment, hunters moved in to the cave (probably to take refuge from showers, or to make a camping site) and contracted the deadly disease.

I suspect nuclear war is most likely to take place.  Don't think it will be the end but the beginning of a new chapter.

It's unlikely nukes will wipe out the entire planet.
At the moment yes, since there is not really anyone ready to push the button (not even DPRK).
But if there would be a nuclear war big areas would become totally devastated and also become uninhabitable for a very long time. Then many more would probably die in the atomic winter that could occur as well.

Countries might be destroyed or become inhabitable but it's unlikely the planet will.
Not in the essence that the planet will turn to dust no, but it could very well end life on this planet as we know it. Atomic bombs can cause really heavy damage you know, and atomic dust can contaminate places unaffected by the explosion itself as well. It could also cause an atomic winter, which would be really devastating to the people that has survived the war.

How big do the nukes have to be for nuclear winter?
A single 100 megaton air burst would be enough, so it wouldn't require that many (The strongest ever built was ~50 and was a hydrogen bomb).
