We have had this experience in time past after experiencing dump with bitcoin, we see altcoin gradually the following suit even ethereum likewise the increase in bitcoin price affecting the price upwards so this probably what brought about this saying but there has been a scenario where bitcoin increase was inversely proportional to altcoins.

I hear everyone talking about how it's going to be alt coin season when bitcoin season is over. But how? Whenever bitcoin falls, for some whack reason alt coins follow suit.

Alt season is already going on from start of this year. Alt season usually last few weeks up to few months longer then bitcoin bull market.  It is expected to last for half more year. But who knows, bear market can start tomorrow.

We cannot tell when this season happen but it could start tomorrow or next following days but even if the market is now at unknown state still we should grab the opportunity if we can see some good movements especially with bitcoins. But if alts will start to move up after the bitcoin dumps well provably its good to accumulate the other top alts but also I will explore to the possibilities to grab some low cap tokens with good potential to see if I can get a profit with them.

Bitcoin is still there, we have also seen some altcoin going stronger when the bitcoin keeps on going higher, some people feel being nervous when something happened just like this, whenever bitcoin drops a little bit, we will see a lot of tweets about it and saying bad things that might happen in bitcoin, we should always remember that bitcoin is used to it, the inflation and deflation for the price of bitcoin is pretty normal, I still believe that bitcoin can still recover from this little deflation.

Here you have to know the fundamentals, if Bitcoin rises in price the altcoins remain somewhat stagnant, some fall in price, if there is confirmation that the Bitcoin market is in an uptrend, the altcoins follow the same direction as bitcoin, this pattern is the which was seen in 2017 and I think that for a season of altcoins to repeat itself, bitcoin must be in an uptrend, otherwise it will not open, this because all altcoins depend directly on Bitcoin and those altcoins that do not follow the sense of Bitcoin It is because it survives from the pump and the dump.

There can be no altcoin season if Bitcoin is in a downtrend, investors are simply not going to trust a market where altcoins bleed due to the bearish effect of Bitcoin, it is something that is not possible. I know that the patterns in the markets sometimes repeat themselves, but this is not a pattern, it is like knowing how the Bitcoin market and the altcoin market work. 2017 was a year that taught many how the crypto market moves and I think it still moves that way with regards to altcoins and the altcoin season.

Well I had one opinion for this thread earlier but after reading few of the articles on the recent drop I have changed my opinion a bit regarding the current situation. It’s clear that current drop is all because of drop in hash rates from the China mining operations. The effect is mega due to huge 24% drop in hash rates. Now once the hah rate is restored we can see the breakout of crypto one more time.

Irrespective of bitcoin and altcoin relationship both the worlds will enjoy the upward economy.

You can read more about the incidence here: Reference for China stuff

When Bitcoin goes down, a few altcoins go up, but when it goes sideways more altcoins will increase in price.
To determine the altcoin season it is necessary to consider the technical factors of the chart. When the BTC.D domain decreases and Bitcoin price increases slowly or sideways, Altcoin increases the most strongly. Track Bitcoin movements for a sound trading strategy. Market news is important in the short term, but the honesty of the price line is worth the longer term.
Under normal circumstances, bitcoin would affect the whole thing.  In it, shitcoin will lose blood.  Even so, I subconsciously summarized it.  Not many coins can be "special" and bring a sensation and heat that can overcome that barrier.  Currently, Sovryn is the only person I see them coming to the end, sure when combined with this gravity and support.  A good project! Shocked

Market fluctuates and everything is affected. Bitcoin drops does not mean it will continue to drop and wont hike gain, when this happens, maybe crypto world will vanish. Maybe altcoin season will now get higher price for those potential coins because it is the opportunity to altcoin to gain more value while bitcoin is dropping. Take this time as an opportunity to buy bitcoin because this is always the best coin and even institutions investing on it.
It's far from vanishing if that's what you're thinking. We will eventually know if this altcoin season is about to end soon. Because at the end of the cycle if the comparison would be the same as 2017.

Then the drop of bitcoin would be continuous and then the altcoins would follow too. But if you have the analysis and can read the basicality of the market, you'll have the belief that it's not yet done. All of these drops are still a chance for accumulation.

People have correlated dips in bitcoin's value to altcoin season, when what might have happened is just pure coincidence backed with a couple of propaganda. Truth be told, it doesn't make sense for Altcoins to follow suit after bitcoin has dumped in value, unless these people who sold their bitcoins reinvested their money on other cryptocurrencies which doesn't make sense because bitcoin offers better growth opportunities than any coin in the market, at least when we talk about long-term growth.

I believe everything will recover, there is no rush into this, let things be things and eventually you will see that bitcoin will go up. Obviously not everyone will be capable of actually profiting from this because some people got scared and sold their coins at lower levels and that means when the price goes up they will be sorry that they sold it, however I believe there is a chance that we could actually see that increase bringing those people back AND some more people on top of it.

I have noticed that whenever bitcoin price goes up, there are more and more people, when a crash happens some of them leaves and some of them stays and that is why the number constantly increases. Eventually "what is bitcoin" 5 years ago became a question no one asks, everyone knows bitcoin and heard about it, I feel like more and more will be even involved with it as well.

Most of the altcoins that have entered the stock exchange, of course, always connect Bitcoin to have an exchange rate, of course there will be a connection when the Bitcoin price drops so some altcoins will follow suit.  basically the role of Bitcoin in the exchange market is exactly the same as the USD which is the benchmark of exchange rates of other countries' currencies, therefore it is not surprising that Bitcoin is the parent of all the coins that exist.

Your comment about USD being a benchmark for exchange rate just as bitcoin controls the wave of crypto price is correct. This current drop of bitcoin price has also led altccoins falling out of profit they made recently. I think there is a little panic that people don't want to lose heavily as in 2017. Bitcoin has slowed down in volatility this week and also altccoins although few altccoins like dogecoin might sustain its profit because of Elon musk who is behind and giving support .

Yes, everyone expects that the end of Bullrun has become near, and this means that Bitcoin may have reached its peak and then it will drop to the bottom, I think the fall may be violent this time, of course when Bitcoin falls the Altcoin season will also end and the big fall begins, no one knows when that will happen Exactly, but everyone should be careful during this period, secure their deals, and try to secure their capital, or at least half of it, so that they do not get a big loss in the event of a sudden big decline.

There is trouble abrewing
I hear everyone talking about how it's going to be alt coin season when bitcoin season is over.
not everyone. only the altcoin pumpers and scammers were saying this to get newbies to buy their altcoin that they want to pump.

it is not a "whack reason" it is very logical as a matter of fact.
people in general have zero faith in altcoins so they never hold on to them for long. when bitcoin falls it is an excellent time to start buying it in the dip. to do that you need money, the money that could be tied up in some altcoin if you are an active trader. so you dump that altcoin to go to bitcoin market and start trading.

it is not about having anything to do with bitcoin. none of the altcoins do anyways. it is about that altcoin not being used for anything else except for trading or if we wanted to be correct for pump and dumps.

the altcoin market cycles are actually very short and sometimes big in pump size. also there is no reason for all altcoins to be pumped at the same time. so you shouldn't expect that either. for example during the past couple of days as all altcoins were dumping there were some that were pumped hard.

Don't say it is completely wrong, how are you sure if that is the case, maybe you have a better version of the 2017 alts pump! We get that many alts don't have real usage,  but it has always been the case even in the 2017 historic alts price pump, many alts back then has no real usage but they still pump like crazy anyways, didn't they say history always repeat itself?

Between it seems you are not aware that many alts have already pumped since December to date, it may not be a simultaneous pump but it does happen separately from the old to the new alts. Coingecko and cmc is there for references.

While talking about the smaller alts, the biggest problem is that they are unable to sustain their high prices for a longer duration. These coins have very small trade volumes, and all it takes to trigger a pump is a few million USD in purchases by one or two individuals. Also, many of these coins are listed only in a small number of exchanges which makes it easier to manipulate their prices. The problem is that once those who manipulated the prices book their profits, the new investors get trapped. There will be no demand for the coin and they will be stuck with useless coins or tokens for the rest of their life. Now this is what happened in 2017/18. You may disagree with me, but I have just posted what I saw before my own eyes back then.

That's why this must not be called an alt season meaning people mostly are wrong in this part because Bitcoin falls with altcoin is not an Altcoin season because the real Alt time is when Bitcoin drops badly and Alt coins will grow higher and higher.

For me this is just a Investors changing way of bagging money , and usually they are doing this to make people believe about that altseason thing.

Some of the altcoin addicts have this false belief that altcoin will gain in case Bitcoin goes down. Let me tell you, that is completely wrong. Many of the altcoins have no real usage of their own and even those with real life usage are getting pumped up only because of Bitcoin. If Bitcoin goes down, then altcoins will go down even more. Look at what happened in 2014/15 and 2018. Back in 2018, Bitcoin declined by as much as 80%-85%. And at the same time, many of the altcoins decreased by anywhere from 95% to 99%. The percentage drop will be always greater for alts in case of a correction.

Not yet ended for bitcoin. If it does, there's more to this correction and it would be brutal and many will not going to like it and will have a thought that it's the end for cryptocurrencies.

I really feel like we've hit the market cycle top earlier than expected tbh
Maybe but maybe not too. Just wait until the market starts to drop or if it's really the peak that we've reached. If not, bitcoin will eventually recover and would hit back again $60k.

It's because so much of altcoin market cap is made up of bitcoin pair trading, so a significant portion of the market cap is denominated in bitcoin and translated into USD equivalent.  Therefore, when bitcoin falls all alts tend to follow suit if they have a significant portion of their trades done in bitcoin.  99% of altcoins are pure trash anyway, I'm not sold on the concept of "alt coin season" even being a thing.  If you're buying them, you're probably making your portfolio worse in the vast majority of cases.

Alts can follow BTC decrease in price for many reasons, but that doesn't mean that there's a correlation between them. For instance, one event (e.g. someone intentionally spreading panic, in an attempt to lower the confidence coefficient among people towards cryptocurrencies) can influence both Bitcoin and alts, only Bitcoin is, firstly, more susceptible to many factors, and secondly, is more noticeable. Due to this, it might seem as if alts go after Bitcoin, while in fact both of them were simply suffered from the same cause.
Right now, as people are getting to know the crypto world a little better, I think, there is actually a chance that alts market won't behave similarly to Bitcoin and some may even switch to them, while things with BTC aren't too good. This is why altcoin season may come.
