It depends from the country you live, your lifestyle and the bitcoin price ofc
Yeah youre right, the price of bitcoin is the only main thing for you to save a lot or few btc.
If you have save  a lot of btc but price is low its worthless, unlike saving some but the price is on the top it would be better.

Well, I think 100 BTC is enough, because 1 bitcoin could may go up to over 1 million dollars by the time you retire. Investing in a retirement fund is not a good idea with the fiat currency system in place.

Bitcoin is a much better option.

not sure where you get the information from that 1 bitcoin can reach a value of $1 million, but it's not going to happen. it's better to set yourself some more realistic price targets. i can see a price of around $10,000 at most, at some point in the far future. if that indeed turns out to happen, then 100btc will be worth $1 million. which is a fantastic amount to retire with.

1 million dollar is too unrealistic in my opinion, if that will happen then bitcoin is making a history and it is greater than gold. I do not expect that to happen but if I have 100 BTC, I would be fine even if the price will be only $10,000 when I retire.

I think that taking into mind that bitcoin prices are probably going to return to its normal value, i.e. $5000 2016 USD in my opinion, and that the fiat currency system is going to collapse, 500 BTC is going to make you wealthy out of your neighborhood.

So get into BTC while you still can at a cheap price.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?
Buy as many as possible, but not more than you can afford to lose because bitcoin may show predictable changes currently but nobody can predict the future and the changes to the market
Evidently the more the better is a good motto to go by though, as i can't see it changing that dramatically, possibly 7-10 bitcoins if you really do want to be well off
That no. of bitcoins is not that really a good amount if you like having a good life in 20 years. Maybe at least 100 BTC to live a comfortable life after the retirement, we can achieve that with enough discipline on savings.

After few years bitcoin price maybe $5000 or already replaced by other currency.

It will still depend on the price of bitcoin after 20 years. But if the bitcoin's price will reach to $5000.
Maybe you just need only 1000 btc for that years and for sure even you don't work for it. It can suffice your needs for 20 years.
I think if bitcoins price is 5000$ as people are suggesting then hardly you need 100 bitcoins for your worry free life. But I will never suggest you to sit idle and just earn with bitcoins, maybe run a new project with bitcoins with the 100 btc.

In 20 years.. if everything goes well.. i guess 3-5 BTC

If the price of bitcoin is going to be $10,000.00 well 3-5 btc is enough I guess so. But for me I'm going to be wise.
I would say that I need hundreds of bitcoin or even thousand in able to retire for 20 years.

$10,000 is nto enough for 3-5 dollars.

With 20, it would be $200,000, this can make you retired depending on what country you live in. But in 20 years price will be way higher than $10. I would say we will be at around $100,000 and BTC will become a super-asset like BRK-A.

For me you would need 100 bitcoin so that in the future if you want to retire and you want to live like a king it is the best amount you to hide for you retirement. But if me, i would hide only 10 bitcoin so that the other bitcoin i use it now, i dont need to wait that time because we dont hold our life so everyday live like theres no tommorrow so that if your day has come you enjoy your money.

That's also my guess that an hundred bitcoin is enough for surviving a retirement for 20 years. But we need to consider the price value of bitcoin for each years or maybe as the day comes. And for sure prices for different years for 20 years is not constant at all.
And there is always going to have change.

i would go for 50-100 atleast depending on the price in the future but 50-100 should be enought. dont think you will be a "rich" but u wont have to work atleast thats a win in it self Cheesy

Well you are right but for me, I guess 50-100 btc is not enough depends on the price of bitcoin that time. I would say that 1,000 btc for is enough to survive in the retirement of 20 years. And as the time goes by, price of bitcoin is going to increase and that's going to be an advantage for me.
And it can sustain my needs for the cover years.

For me and many others who are in the US at the current price that bitcoin is at we would need at least 400 btc to be able to afford things in the later years of retirement. Medical bills and senior citizen homes will take a big part of that money. I'd venture to day 1000 btc would be more ideal.

Well, it's hard to predict how many bitcoins for retire on the next 20 years, because we also need to calculate the inflation in your country, maybe i need bitcoins around 50-200 bitcoins.
Right depends on the needs and expenses in your country. Maybe if you live in NY you might not be able to survive with 50 bitcoins for a long time. I think you should have this much bitcoin : expenses in a month ( in $ )  x 20 / 1000 , this much bitcoins.
I never really thought of it that way, but that is definitely true. If you live in a third world country, then you could probably buy a house for much cheaper than a house in a first world country.

That's correct and it depends on two major factor, where you are living and what will be the price of bitcoin in future, but its always good to hold more number of coins.
