I've told all my friends, and they've seen me take profits, are interested, but none has taken the plunge... I really don't know why, i guess they want to stay poor.

No one that want to stay poor  Grin, and imo the purpose why we using bitcoin is not to become rich immediately, but it is used to do fast transaction and profitable investment. Just be patient, and I think you will get a right moment to get them into bitcoin. Anyway, you have tried to develop bitcoin in your country Smiley

Where is my ring of blades...
I tried introducing bitcoin to one of my friends recently but I couldn't convince him about the benefits of bitcoin and get him excited about it. I guess if the price starts to show some upward movement it can be a good way to excite people into joining in.

It's happened again.

I didn't necessarily recommend Bitcoin but the conversation turned to Bitcoin. (Not my doing!)

The new guy in the group asked what it was. I explained and he listened with a stupid smirk on his face that I wanted to slap silly. It wasn't until I started explaining the people getting involved, the blockchain tech and the finite number he started to see the possibilities.

I am 33 and this guy was nearing 50. He's not old but I think the majority of older people cannot be changed. He is a war veteran and not techy at all.

I hate that smirk on people's faces when you explain it to them and they look at you as if it's a scam.

I believe things will change in 10 years or less as tech minded youngsters start getting involved and bring fresh ideas to businesses.

You should keep trying, people will accept.

Ad maiora!

The most interest Ive managed to stir up is about the service ascribe.io

its a method to verify the ownership of digital media. I know many artists, quite a few who make digital work, I'm hoping they will use ascribe.io to sell and authenticate their work, I've offered to help them with it, but we shall see if any of them actually get there.

& one more (unrelated) thing... Im L33T! check my post count!!!! 1337 posts!!! KEWL BEENZ!

In past, I was about to involve as many people as I know..but as already stated:

*you are 24/7 technical support for them
*you are 24/7 trading advice services for them
*you are 24/7 security/crypto specialist for them

and if price go down, they even blame you that you caused lost for them. actually best way is, when somebody is decide by himself and asking you for advices, than involve somebody directly to party..

I recommend my friend to invest on bitcoin last year.
He learn about bitcoin and decided to spend part of his money on bitcoin and hold it.

After half year, bitcoin prices drop and he was mad at me Cheesy
He lost almost half of his money because price drop more than 50% Sad
I told him before, it's very risky to invest here. But he think bitcoin price will increase (same like my prediction Cheesy )

You have made a great job. It's up to him to decide if he want to continue his bitcoin investment or just stop like that. But, you know what, at least you have introduced bitcoin to him, and you have helped bitcoin development in your country. I think he will use bitcoin again when it become popular to world people in future. So, don't worry about that. I am trying to recommend bitcoin to my friends but still no one of them could accept it until now.  Smiley

I have recommended Bitcoin to so many of my friends and many of them were fascinated by the Bitcoin, and they are hooked to it ever since, i sincerely believe that you should not hide a good news to other, so i say about bitcoin to as many people as possible, everyone knowing about bitcoin should also do the same by sharing what you know about bitcoin which will result in increased adaptability and will benefit everyone.

So after this "incident", i wouldn't recommend people to use bitcoin as investment anymore Cheesy
Instead i suggest my friend to use bitcoin as their optional payment.
I remember one of my friend want to buy part of gaming hardware and he didn't have credit card (and paypal too).
so i came to him and tell he can buy it on newegg using bitcoin as payment method.
He learn how to use bitcoin and finish the transaction. He interested about bitcoin and still using it until now Smiley
the two parts you narrated
losing butcoins on investment and using bitcoins as payment method
was quite good to listen to
although your friend lost the money on investment you should have encouraged him to EARN bitcoins and spend them or invest that money.
everybody knows the price stability of bitcoin so investing your real money in bitcoin is a huge risk instead we can earn bitcoins and use that money for investing purpose and double in a few months.
