Peace be with you!
Is there some metric or study somewhere that could let us know how many individuals (individual humans) currently hold Bitcoin as an asset? Are there any metrics that could approximate the number? Estimate change over time?

I would think this would be a key metric in understanding the market.
We cannot actually tell the exact number but I'm sure I am one of them.  Though just a small amount but having just a portion is better than nothing.  And as long as I am enrolled to a signature campaign Bitcoin will keep on coming.  😁

I was only guessing at the volatility thing. I only know that people consider this a key metric for other instruments that are owned by a multitude of entities e.g. stocks.
When you guess then that means you don't know what is being said, then how can people see your view as something to discuss. At least you have a source that can strengthen the volatility and how strong the source convinces the process.

Regardless of the reasons, clearly lots of people consider how widely held Bitcoin is to be an important metric. That in of itself makes it an important metric since it speaks to the perception of the instrument's popularity / desirability.

Put it another way, if a study showed that fewer and fewer people were investing in bitcoin over time, that would exert a lot of downward pressure on the price.
Try to mention what when a few people invest in Bitcoin, then what happens if the price can soar higher? Popularity/desire can be seen how the percentage of Bitcoin when created until now which has been so developed, there is a reason why Bitcoin can be as fast as this as one of the most fundamental coins. On the other side there is the closest coin that also has a fairly large market capitalization but The coin is different from Bitcoin.

I don't know how you associate metric instruments in each writing and why this needs to be mentioned repeatedly. Bitcoin becomes more important because it is able to maintain its value because that is more trusting people put money here and Bitcoin volatility can also provide reasons why Bitcoin is considered quite speculative and can produce huge profits.

Individual holders cannot be determined since not all holder uses a single address, but numerous address. But we can come up with a fixed number of addresses but for number of holders, obviously we can't.

However, it's certain that majority that invest in the crypto market are long term hodlers. It's just that each individual has more than one or two wallet addresses that they are currently used and make them secured.

Is this correct? I think in contrast to you, most people want to make money quickly from bitcoin and there are not too many people who are long-term holders in this market. Because if the majority focuses on long-term holding, not too many people will lose money when investing in bitcoin.
Bitcoin is the best choice for long-term investment but not too many investors are doing it, most are just speculating or looking to get rich quickly. That is also the reason why losers in the market always outnumber the winners.

I do not think that there will be some that are gonna be accurate to put up numbers. Estimations are fine and it is not a problem after all if the numbers are not accurate at all.

It is due to the growing number and adoption of Bitcoin having new investors, holders and generation of more wallets regardless of the amount it has got.

Coming up with solid numbers on Bitcoin holders sure is tricky business.  With Bitcoin's anonymity and all, folks can whip up as many separate wallets as they fancy.  Makes it right difficult to pin down how many one-of-a-kind holders there really are.

I can only speak from my own example and  I've usually got a couple addresses floating around my wallet that have some coins stashed away.  Plus you gotta count all them custodial service addresses from exchanges, casinos, and what have you that I use.  And bam - all those addresses map to just little old me.  Wouldn't take but a quick minute to tick off twenty or so addresses tied to just one holder.

So I reckon well never have the definitive answer.  Best we can do is speculate based on our own tales.  But given how effortless it is to generate addresses my hunch is the number of unique holders is far fewer than the number of addresses out there.

until now there is no definite data that can show how many individuals hold bitcoin, because each person may hold more than 2 or 3 or more wallets. however, if we look at several statistical websites, there are around 50-100 million people who hold bitcoin globally, but this is only approximate data, not actual data since it is quite difficult to estimate the exact data of the number of individuals who hold bitcoin. and this number will probably increase in line with the increasing price of bitcoin in the future.

106 million the number a found on this website
https://buybitcoinworldwide.com/how-many-bitcoin-users/

according to the website you mentioned. these are just estimates. even the website is also saying there is no way to find out actual number of bitcoin users. everyone can just make estimates.
we can only know the number of wallets have bitcoin. knowing how many individual have bitcoin is impossible. because some people have multiple wallets while some people keep their bitcoins in exchanges which are held by one master wallet.
the website above do gives some interesting facts tho. it was fun reading that.

There are many sites out there who can give you these figures you sought but the challenge will be on the accuracy of the information provided because there are individuals who has got multiple Bitcoin wallet at a time , I don't know the numeration you are going to assign to such and also there are cases of wallets that have been lost probably the user lost their phrases and no longer have access to them again, all those will contribute to the numbers you sought but if you narrow bit down to activate users, region and probably exchange the precision becomes even higher.

On this forum I'm very sure a good percentage of members are holders of Bitcoin and even traders aswell but I'm not sure if there's a record of such which you can find here on this forum but out there, there are few records .

Is there some metric or study somewhere that could let us know how many individuals (individual humans) currently hold Bitcoin as an asset? Are there any metrics that could approximate the number? Estimate change over time?

I would think this would be a key metric in understanding the market.

If nobody knows that OP, then what would you do if you knew the number of Bitcoin holders? There are other holders who don't just stick to one address, like Bitcoin holders, because it's a safe way to use many addresses.

And you are the only one I saw who was interested in knowing the total number of bitcoin holders, and for sure, that is what the majority of the community here in our forum will answer you. So it's hard to do that, and it can't be done in reality.

Over the years I have seen many speculations about the number of people actually using bitcoin, but none of them seems to be very convincing since the usage of bitcoin and how many addresses each person has varies wildly among its users, as a person could use a single address to accumulate and hold their coins, while another person could use hundreds of addresses, and yet both are valid ways to use bitcoin, however the only thing we know for sure is that the number of people using bitcoin is still increasing.

The truth is we can never really get the true numbers on this particular subject.
Also, there's no significance if we have such number because each wallet have their own amount of holdings.
Ask yourself, once you know the numbers, what will you do such stats? And besides, there are active and dormant accounts.

Your quest is very difficult budy! Its like asking for the total number of people whom are poor or rich in the world. Just as wallet creation is not limited in creation, which implies that non custodial wallet generate seed phrase endlessly so do people creat thousands of it. Some wallet are abandoned due to the seed phrase has been compromised. While others lost access to it and you wouldn't know if it's functional and if by virtue of conting it, you are making a mistake. So there for that method is not a good way of understanding the market.

It's definitely a lot Cheesy
IMO it would be very difficult to see a specific number when talking about bitcoin holders because in the end it would not be able to record that. There are several reasons that make this unpredictable. First we don't know that one person has several wallets which certainly cannot be proven either because in the end it could be that 1 holder has several different wallets. In addition we also cannot identify with real that bitcoin holders can be proven because in the end with the number of wallets that exist today and with the spread of bitcoin in almost all parts of the world, things like that are difficult to know so no one knows for sure how many but certainly it is a lot Cheesy

How can that be a metric to understand the market? And it's not possible in any way to even find a close estimate of how many individuals in the world have a hold on Bitcoins because a single person can have hundreds of Bitcoin wallets created since the day they started using Bitcoin, not counting exchanges and other platforms that use Bitcoins for deposits and withdrawals especially those that have changed addresses which means that a single address is used just once by one user and they have millions of users.

So, I believe it's enough for us to know that millions of people around the world are using and holding Bitcoins and that's how we can understand how saturated the market is and how popular Bitcoin and the overall cryptocurrency market has become, and it's just the beginning, we are yet to reach new heights.

No one will know the right answer to that.

Employees at big exchanges should have a pretty good estimation. They can look into the withdrawal stats, find out the average addresses per user and take the product with their market share. I would be pretty surprised if this was not an extremely accurate guess.

No one will know the right answer to that as privacy is given high emphasis. And even if there’s a metric that will help us know that, we can’t be sure if we have derived with a right and fixed answer or just an estimation. Note that each hodler may also be using different addresses so it’s really impossible to determine how many exact hodlers are here.

However, I find no relation why we have to look for that. Hodling entails privacy so we should not dwell with everyone’s privacy and just respect everyone who is actually here to hold for long term.

There is no way you can know that because a single person may have more than one address. I have not seen such research or way to know how many bitcoin holders we have. You can only know about addresses and not the holders.
Exactly
You can only know of how many address but knowing number of holders isn’t really relevant and I think the statistics wouldn’t be near correct for several reasons that a particular person can have several addresses as there isn’t any restrictions to the number of addresses own is supposed to own but on the other hand, I think it will be possible if bitcoin isn’t decentralized as then the census would be counted as per the number of KYC

I think such information is not known by anyone because we don't know that a single individual owns how many bitcoin and may be some people don't have whole bitcoin but they have bought it in smaller portion which means that they will have different addresses as some people make transactions to different wallets through which they can access.
This is not an easy task to know about the holders of bitcoin because we are unable that how many address are of a single guy therefore  we should just think about our success and leave behind the thoughts that how many individuals have hold bitcoin because neither they can take our profit nor they will give us their profit.

Calculated the number of individual holders of Bitcoin will come out but no one can find the right holder in fact no one knows the exact creator of Bitcoin. Since each bitcoin can be divided into 100 million units called satoshis the maximum estimate for use in the bitcoin blockchain is not always accurate. This limits the number of holders to ensure and maintain the value of Bitcoin over time.
