the results from the poll dont look good for the crypto planet because this translates to less than 10% of the world polution
we need more people to use bitcoins to help in the price boost Wink

What is the need to rush matters?  The amount of use and adoption is what it is, and many of us likely recognize that there is a considerable value in investing in bitcoin currently because the level of adoption remains so low, yet the utility and future potential of bitcoin remains so great - even under current circumstances and current developments.

I see no need to get anxious  merely because you believe adoption is not happening as fast as you would like it to happen, and surely, there are some advantages to slower rates of growth in order to continue to develop the space in order that the space is more ready for when the additional users come.

I think they or we are only around 2 million because we were open to adventure and opportunities.  Some people were too afraid to venture on this kind of currency.  They are too cautious and do not want to be scammed.  But who would want their money to be wasted.  It is just maybe it was not considered as a legal currency by the government.
there might be even less regular users in my opinion, there are a lot of holders but not users unfortunately

I understand that it matters to some extent to differentiate between users and holders, yet I don't really see any reason to criticize folks merely because they are holders.  Holders likely become users the more that they hold onto the asset, and really holders do not hurt the bitcoin infrastructure, overall.

critics of bitcoin frequently attempt to denigrate holders further by calling them hoarders, yet in the end, it doesn't really matter if a whole lot of folks believe that there is some value in holding bitcoin for the longer term.. They do risk that the direction of the price may not go in their favor, yet bitcoin is certainly capable of handling such a matter with whatever coins are available, in terms of liquidity in the even that some folks may want to use bitcoin for the holding  and/or transfer of larger amounts of value.

I think that this is a decent topic, and I appreciate a lot of the responses regarding the difficulties in knowing the answer, exactly.

I would like to see some kind of poll that attempts to suss out what is meant by user, too.

So, for example, if the definition of a user is anyone who has at any time held more than .001 bitcoin and continues to hold at least .001 bitcoin, then that gives us a certain broad picture that is not really very well defined.

Some users may have several wallets and 100s of addresses, and surely, if some bitcoins are held on exchanges, then the number of users is somewhat difficult to suss out, because exchanges are not very forthright about how many users they have (even if they are fairly certain that some of their users are not the same person under a different guise).

i think no one know that how many people are using bitcoin because a huge of number of people are using bitcoin and these people can not be countable so there is no one count the number of bitcoion users and it really too  impossible.

I think the total number would have to be few millions, I seen few thousands in even my country which is a third world country with no significant care about the technical field, If you include US, China and Russia I am sure it would be a significant number.

I do believe we might be 2 milion with several people inactive, the blockchain only shows wallets nothing else, soo one single person might have more then 10 adress, like exchanges does have unlimited adress connected to them.

2 million people seems to be too much if you ask me. Especially if their active. I guess the amount of active bitcoin users is perhaps in the ten of thousands. The amount of users that have or use bitcoin is somewhere in the 100.000. Perhaps 150.000. The amount of addresses is easily somewhere in millions and counting.

Its really going to be difficult to determine accurately the numbers of users even the estimate might not be accurate because of the major advantage of Bitcoin which is anonymity as your friend might be into bitcoin and you wont know, another is the environmental or say social factors surrounding its use in the sense that some people still see it as a currency used in the "underworld" which they are not really proud of. Based on the analysis by OP I would say between 2-5 million people...

Well there's no accurate way to count how many folks use bitcoin yet, i think bitcoins is used by more than 5m folks. India alone has 1m users, what about China it should double than India right?

2 million is enough to predict how much people using bitcoin so far we really don't know how much right if we are going to see the lots of transaction in bitcoin and we count it we can't because there are transaction are made every minute and it is more than x10 or maybe more.

I think it's around 1 million or so overall, it's still just getting attention and haven't gone fully mainstream yet so I think it's around that or so, hard to estimate the real number though since it's not needed to link your identity to a bitcoin address.

Some logical thinking is that Bitcoin is used the most in developed countries with high acces to the techologies. But we mustn't forget India who has a lot of Bitcoin users, also some countries in Africa. I would say something around 3 millions.

Lol. Someone selected "What is bitcoin?" from the poll, that shows there are users even in this forum who does not know what is bitcoin and we are trying to teach others outside here.
Coming back to the topic, i have selected from 2 to 5 million because if there are 1 million users in India then they would probably be more than 4 or maybe 5 million in the world.

* India Counts over 1 Million Bitcoin Users

https://bitconnect.co/bitcoin-news/258/bitcoin-progress-report-india-counts-over-1-million-bitcoin-users/

* Blockchain.info counts nearly 10m wallet users (some of those 1 million Indian users might have wallets on Blockchain.info; and some others might have multiple wallets on there)

https://blockchain.info/charts/my-wallet-n-users?timespan=180days

* Some research says there are less than 5m active users and it won't go over that number until 2020

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-users-approach-5-million-mark-2019-juniper-research-reports/

So, how many people do you think are currently using Bitcoin?

Please try to use links to any *good* sources of user stats; pretty please, with sugar on top.  "My mom thinks it's less than 20" type of bollocks will get you deleted off the face of this earth.

I would say less than 2 million users.

Most of them have multiple btc wallets so we can`t know the exact number.

If Indian users are 1 million, how many are Chinese users?

Trying for calculating the bitcoiners in china and i sure the result will be more 2 million people... if comparing with the total population of chinese is more than 100 million person in there.

I voted less than 2 million. If so, there's some real potential when more people start using it in the future.
