Well, at least he can't build a fucking wall around bitcoin like he's doing with the Mexicans because he's not a fan of them either.

I mean, come on.  Why would someone like Trump, who's always been in bed with bankers, appreciate something like bitcoin?  Like Warren Buffett, he just doesn't need it--and if you've got billions of dollars in traditional investments, it makes sense that you wouldn't invest in an asset as volatile as bitcoin.  Super wealthy individuals do things to protect the wealth they have more so than trying to increase it.

Also, who the hell is still reading Trump's tweets?  That man should have his computer and smartphone confiscated and his lips sewn together.  Lol.  Can't wait for the next election.

Maybe it's not Trump ?

Maybe? This after just 6 hours ago you opened a topic like this one?
Now it's an all out war : Government Vs cryptocurrencies

So, it's war or it's not?

No one is talking about today's big news? USA adopting crypto?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/usa-government-adopting-crypto-5165556

And you're going the opposite way.
For the others, Trump said he doesn't like it means war, for you a guy that despite his status holds no legislative power saying cryptos are not that ad means the US is going to adopt crypto.

It's so damn hard lately to find someone who doesn't overexaggerate things scaling everything tenfold.

I think there's no overexaggeration here. It's the one way or the other. This news is extreme. So will be the result of this in the longterm. That's my opinion. I could be wrong. My thinking is that the government will regulate crypto which is the first step for adoption. Yes, they declared a war! But not against bitcoin! They declared a war to the bad boys who are abusing bitcoin for illegal activities. It's just like declaring a war against criminal who is using dolar for illegal activities. You won't declare a war agains the dolar. You will declare a war against criminal and you will clean up this mess and make it legit and aceptable.

The crash began the day before he tweeted anything. Maybe it encouraged some more people to sell, but it looks like the wheels were already in motion. Easy come, easy go -- that's the way I see it. Price was literally in the $7,000s last month. Smiley

I agree with the attitude that it's actually a very bullish long term sign. 5 years ago, could you have imagined the US President discussing Bitcoin? And the Treasury Secretary holding White House press conferences about it? It doesn't matter what their opinions are -- Bitcoin clearly isn't going anywhere. It's only going to get bigger.

I agree with that, the current dump is just a temporary reaction from weak people and was also taken advantage by the whales.
I'm seeing at the big picture here like the future and it doesn't matter if there will be dump to come as I know the market can survive.
At this time, bitcoin is already trading below $10,000,$9500 to be exact.

Be the reason someone smiles today
I think that Trump's reaction was pretty much helpful as he advertised Btc for free.

It's a known fact that governments do not like crypto as they cannot control it.

Just a fud. I do not think it is the main reason for sudden dump of bitcoin's price. There is another reason behind it. Maybe the huge sell off of a particular bitcoin whale. But for me , this is just a natural reaction of the market. The recovery and the correction stage before another bitcoin's huge spike will happen. And not with the negative statement of the President Trump. It's nothing to do about it.
I also do not believe that statement is the reason for the sharp decline of bitcoin, instead of thinking in this direction, I think differently, I think bitcoin's value increases too fast and current accumulation is not enough for whales to set higher pumps, so they need more accumulation periods, claiming to be just a coincidence, even without this statement, I believe that whales will create many other negative news. But perhaps Donald Trump is a whale in this area, and he wants the price of bitcoin to go down to accumulate through making this statement.

Trump criticizes bitcoin, Libra and other cryptocurrency through his Twitter social media account. He stated that cryptocurrency is not a currency, and the official US currency is dollars. He also called Libra must have a foundation. If Facebook wants to become a bank they must obtain a bank license and be subject to banking rules. Sharp criticism made by President of the United States (US) Donald Trump of the Facebook crypto currency, Libra has a negative impact on the development of other digital currency stocks. From the monitoring of the CoinDesk site, the price of bitcoin is currently relatively stable, there tends to be an increase. When this news was written, the price of bitcoin against the dollar reached 11,643.30 US dollars. This is enough to prove that Trump's criticism has not been able to destabilize blockchain investors, which has caused the price of bitcoin to decline. Until this news was written, both Facebook and the White House still did not comment.

Where is my ring of blades...
if you look at the events of the past couple of days only in the market (looking at charts) ever since that tweet came out you can clearly see that the tweet itself had no effect on bitcoin price whatsoever but when you start looking at the social media you can see that people have been going crazy over it and many of them have been trying to link it to the price each expecting a different result. many considered it to be a bullish signal and many considered it a panic causing thing that can start a drop. it did neither. although I think it was a positive sign that is proving bitcoin's growth and the fact that it is growing so much that is now being noticed. they no longer can ignore it.

I do think his comments slightly affect the bitcoin market (most probably the small investors). But as of moment, the value of btc is up by around 7% from yesterday. The small investors are the mostly affected by this comments of Trump because it might put some questions in their minds.

But for the whales and big investors, Trump's statement about bitcoin and other crypto is just a mere opinion. These whales know what they are doing (considering they're crypto experts), and that there's nothing to fear about what Trump has said.

Also, bitcoin is expected to make another leap in value IF Facebook's crypto survives congress hearings.

And do you think that hovering of Bitcoin over $10,000 is an effect of the announcement of the clueless Trump? It was not. It was simply a little retracement. And look at Bitcoin now, just a couple of days from that statement. We are now climbing back to $11,000. Fresh from that statement, we could get $12,000 very shortly.

Your question should not have started with "how much". Or it is enough to strike it through. Or better yet replace it with "Do we care..."

Donald trump only loves to be part of the news, and cameras, he loves this thing that his dump face appears on google every time, every second. and I am sure no one cares his dump statements regarding bitcoin or another crypto, I believe crypto is the future.
are you mean he prepare to elections on 2020?
when he make use of Bitcoin for his elections and to make popular him self, he should make positive statement about bitcoin, then public will be know who has good criteria to next 2020 also have about future and knowledge.

I think Trump's tweets mean little in regards to the price of Bitcoin. BTC has risen significantly over the last few months, and it's only natural for the price to correct a little. As to him saying that the USD is doing well, and that it's better than ever (I'm paraphrasing)....we all know that is a literal crock of s***, when in reality, many countries are pulling away from the Petro Dollar. The inflationary aspect of the USD is appalling. I say this as a US citizen.

CLEAN non GPL infringing code made in Rust lang
I think President Trump's comments have brought Bitcoin into the minds of a much larger audience. Since he is the most popular Tweeter in the world whatever he Tweets reaches a whole lot of people. He only tweeted a few things too yet it is significant. At the same time, he takes a very old school slant on all of this new technology. Before we even know it, everything we ever knew will be tied to this new technology. This technology is way bigger than Trump. He should adapt a better stance about Bitcoin, for the people of the United States and for everyone and everything all around the world.

In that case it would create a Streisand effect, perhaps he is a secret supporter and that was his plan all along (or he wanted to buy some bitcoin cheap).

I do not think the price drop was due to Trump's tweet. Maybe if somebody was late. But, the possibility is very low.

The price has come close to 10k before that and it is not guaranteed that it will not happen in the future. In this regard the greed of whales is more likely.

We can call this "the usual crypto volatility".
