In my opinion, this new rules is really helpful for Bitcointalk forum.
It will reduce the emergence of spam and shitpost but merit for newbie might not be friendly, because when they just know block chain and BTC, they difficult to make high quality reply. And the new rules still have a lot of problems. Does anyone give merit to others?Even if I make a high-quality response.

I do too. I think it's good since the purpose of the new rules is to actually urge people to post better contents in threads or through their replies. However, I am just unsure of the merit aspect being given by users; I don't know about other people, but I have noticed in my months of posting here that many people don't give much attention to the replies or posts of other people, therefore, since the merit system is based on the person appreciating a content, and giving justice to it by giving a merit point, would be difficult to achieve because not very many would even check on the contents of the posts they see, more so spend the time to actually give merits for it. I am just hoping that ranking up wouldn't become so difficult because of the indifference in giving merits some people may do.

I would give you some Merit for that thought if I had any. Really good point.

Is it possible to offer to exchange "merit" in the topics of posts-This will not be a violation of the rules? If possible, let's try to do this?)  Roll Eyes

The main purpose the system is to encourage users to make meaningful and constructive posts. What's more important is it makes it harder for broken-english(like yourself) shitposters to rank up.
And here you are trying to find ways to exploit the system to the point where you're basically begging for merit points.

I agree about encouraging meaningful and constructive posts. However, shittalking people who's english capabilities are below average is a punch below the belt. Be better than that.

If your english is not sufficient then don't post in the english sections.
People who understand english are getting tired of copied/translated nonsense posts.

They don't post in the french section writing broken french either right?

Are you the one to decide who copy/translates, and who has writing disabilities etc.? I agree in doing your outmost to write quality posts, but many people with hero/legendary status have broken english capabilities. Doesn't make their posts stupid or irrelevant if the thoughts are good.
And about writing broken french in the french chat; we have a lot of Swedish and Norwegian people writing in broken Danish in the Scandinavian sektion. We forgive for their national handicap.

Seems like it may be as flawed as a meritocracy.  How exactly does it work? If you have an unpopular opinion, even if it's fact-based, can other users vote you down?

As long as it will help resolve the lack of quality topics that is replete on the Bitcoin discussion board, then I am down with the merit system. I am already tired of seeing 'How bitcoin affects your life' type of threads. It's frustrating.

Hello i am newbie to this forum and this is my very first time to comment,I am too is curious about this merit system and after reading here for about an hour what i have learn is,this new system will prevent spammers from doing shit posting here and for newbies like me this forum would be very important in my learning process and such spam posts would lead me some confusion about cryptocurrency.Overall i see this merit system as a positive thing for newbies like me,we wont get misleading informations from these spammers,am i right? Wink
You are absolutely right, this system will prevent shitposting in bitcointalk, thus theese account farmers wont have any chance to rank up fast than the usual.Hopefully the community will give a positive feedback regarding this new system because if not theymos might remove it in the future but in overall this system will surely help bitcointalk community.

I've searched for "merit" on the forum and can't see any official post for it - can you point me in the right direction - i..e where's the official post describing it? Smiley

Here is the official announcment of the new merit systeme and the new rank requirements: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-new-rank-requirements-2818350

I think it is a step in the right direction. It encourages people to post meaningful an constructive posts instead of flooding the forum with useless spam.

What do you think about the new rules (merit) of the Bitcointalk forum? Do you think this is good or not?)
Looks like you're misplaced for discussion, this is an altcoin section.
Apart from that, merit system is very good because it can distinguish accounts that do shitpost with account that do constructive post. we dont need The Pharmacist anymore Cheesy
I agree that this thread belongs and Meta and that in general this idea is good. But it will take some time for users to adapt and really start giving merit to others. I guess we should consider them as likes on facebook, so merit should be given if the post is helpful or if one agrees with that.
As for the op's question about agreeing to give merit - I don't think it's illegal yet, but I suppose it is a bad idea to do that, since the whole merit idea wouldn't make sense then.
It is truly hard to make serious contribution to the discussions on the forum, but at least merit system will stimulate to read more post and try to write something useful.

Hopefully this will weed out all the cheaters who have made such a mess in the bounty sections of the forum and also making all these multiple accounts just for their own greed. I do not like it when others are working hard to make ends meet or help their families but on the other hand you have gangsters and fraudsters farming multiple accounts on Bitcointalk because they are so unkind and greedy and want to steal other people's living. So yes, this is a good idea the merit system.

From one side it means less spam, less multiply accounts, better posts quality. But from enother side maybe this will push people to create new market for sail and exchange of merits. Who knows. Lets see what it will lead to.

i dont  have many information about the new rules (merit). i read some posting of my friend that the new rule is important to minimize spam post. we should make a good posting with the high quality.
Spoken like a no-English shitposter who's only on bitcointalk to spam.

I think the new thing is interesting, but tagging shitposters is still very useful, as it disqualifies them from some campaigns.  In any case, I'm curious to see what effect this is going to have.

I feel confused with "merit" and do not understand how to use it. I read this topic and understood a bit more. But if I no longer "merit" then how?

I need that Bitcointalk interface should be faster for this kind of collecting points.
Maybe if they lower the required points to reasonable amount. I could be wrong.
Maybe people adopt the new system better and start rewarding others.
