I won't argue with ignorant tools.  Reread the text of my second post, and if you still don't get it, find an adult or someone intelligent to explain it to you.

Are you saying that too much sugar is bad for you? If so, I agree. You don't need to quote any obscure science involving sailors from 1793, just look at a few different countries today. Countries with a lot of sugar and processed foods tend to have less healthy people, and in places where people eat more vegetables and less sugar/processed foods, they tend to be healthier.

Do you think there is a conspiracy to trick people into eating too much sugar? Do you not think that the fact that sugar is tasty, is the reason it is popular?

Sure, the eating of sugar will have SIMILAR effects to certain drugs, like the release of dopamine, and the subsequent urge to eat more sugar. But any pleasureable activity will release dopamine, whether it's gambling, the internet, sex, or even someone eating a potato who REALLY LIKES POTATOES.

Should potatoes be classed as drugs? How about a pair of luscious naked breasts, are they drugs?

Sugar is nothing like Heroin:

A. Heroin has physical addiction symptoms and sugar does not.
B. Heroin has an extremely strong psychoactive effect, sugar has a very weak effect.
C. Heroin has a short-lived effect. Effects are even stronger and shorter when injected IV.

All this means Heroin is a metric fuckton more addictive than sugar - Do you ever hear about crazed sugar junkies breaking into peoples houses to raid their fridge for Reese's Pieces? Didn't think so.

How to confuses retarded masses: get them addicted to sugar, and other strange chemicals, then convince them it's good since at least it's not a 'hard' drug.  Most still think nothing is wrong with all the shit added to our foods today.  A lot going around about how it's 'natural' etc.  Funny thing is Heroine and Cocaine are 100% natural as well.  These words have a strong negative feeling associated with them.  This was of course done on purpose through commercials, and other methods of indoctrination.  While they made sure the  word sugar has a neutral or positive effect through similar brainwashing.  I see cans of peaches now with sugar added...
This gives you some idea how far they are willing to go.

I see disgusting looking obese fools waddling around talking about 'alcoholics' or 'drug addicts.'  Guess what, they fit into the same category, only in addition to being an addict, they're also too stupid to be aware of it...  This is a problem.

Your post is utter nonsense, Heroin and Cociane are the chemically altered products of Poppy and coca. It has NOTHING to do with the original substance. I have nothing against drugs, but calling those 2 natural, please read something before you post BS like this Smiley They need gasoline for christ sake to make it, nothing natural about that Smiley

Well actually gasoline is pretty natural, it does have additives but really it's just natural oil that has been fractionally distilled to separate the correct hydrocarbons.

Cocaine is also natural - it is extracted from coca leaves without any synthesis. However, Heroin is semi-synthetic, it is synthesized from naturally occuring morphine and doesn't exist naturally on its own.

Anyway, this "natural vs synthetic" debate is just silly, it doesn't make any difference. Some natural things are incredibly dangerous, other natural things are totally safe. Same for synthetic things. Everything is just chemicals at the end of the day.

I agree with Stargazer re: drugs, they are good tools which can become dangerous in the hands of inexperienced people (a bit like motorcars). Of course not all drugs are "good", I'm generalising a bit here but I'm talking about most popular recreational drugs, not things like thalidomide/scopolamine etc.

On topic, It's well known that too much sugar is bad for you, but there's no conspiracy to trick people into eating it and becoming "confused", that's just dumb. It's just the free market in action, people like sugar so it has become popular.

I read an interesting thing about sugar and fat recently, apparently a meal with a lot of fat and protein, but low sugar (like a cooked breakfast or roast dinner) makes people feel full. However, when you have fat AND sugar together (fast food/chinese takeaway/ice cream etc) then this can trick the body into not feeling full, and it's easy to eat a lot more than you normally would.

You're dangerously close to kicking yourself in the teeth with this post  Cheesy Addiction is what separates humans from animals, every human on the planet is addicted to something and that includes you. You should throw the first stone only when you're certain you're separate and safely out of reach from the ones you judge/condemn otherwise it's like you're stoning yourself  Roll Eyes

@bold: The difference is good addiction and bad addiction. People who are condemning the OP is because drugs like Heroin and Alcohol is bad addiction and not good.

This seems like a looong shot.  I don't see sugar, with its very minimal addictive properties, "confusing" anyone.  Why do you have such feelings toward overweight people?  Some simply cannot help it.

You can say they cannot help it about any addictions from sex, drugs, sugar, porn etc. People can help it though they find it very difficult to and that's where the problem is. Sugar is a drug at the end of the day in it changes your brain chemistry so you can get addicted to it easier than most drugs.

This means that Alcohol and Drugs are required by our body and mind while sugar is not required by the body and mind? Who is a fool in this case?

Heroine and Cocaine are 100% natural... And see the spelling of Heroine   Cheesy It's not an actress but it's called "Heroin".

Anything in excess is bad for health whether it's sugar or water as well but alcohol and drugs are not only bad but they are addictive. They stop the body and mind from functioning properly.

_______________________________________

Heroin and alcohol are both central nervous system depressants, so when they’re taken together, the combined effects can be too much for the body to handle – the combination can even lead to coma and death. Together, heroin and alcohol can affect your breathing and your heart rate, slowing both to hazardous levels.

On its own, heroin is a dangerous drug. It can cause many side effects, which include:

Infectious diseases from injecting it
Breathing problems
Dependence and addiction
Overdose that can cause death
Extreme withdrawal symptoms if you stop, like diarrhea, throwing up and pain

_______________________________________

Sugar provides glucose to the body which is necessary for hydration while drugs and alcohol only lead to death.

The evidence is weak that sugar/glucose per se causes diabetes, an association is getting mixed up with causality (look thru this article for example, especially the section titled "Garcinia Cambogia Side Effects : The Promotion Of Hyperglycemia (High Blood Sugar Level  - What Causes Hyperglycemia ? Sugar, Or Maybe Not?": http://www.supplements-and-health.com/garcinia-cambogia-side-effects.html ). Toxicities, including from a high fat diet, or deficiencies seem to be the more likely factors.

no, your body needs sugar or to be precise glucose, else our body - especially our brain - wouldnt work.
sugar is our energy fuel.

of course if you take (much) more sugar then your body needs it will get unhealthy (overweight, diabetes), but that's the way with pretty much everything.
drink to much (clean) water and you will die too (not from drowning)

*edit

artificial additions (like colors & flavours) is something completely different and depending on what we are talking about it is really just unhealthy.

Stop trying to find convenient excuses for peoples' own bad personal choices and bad habits, if I suddenly decide I want to eat a bunch of delicious profito rolls for a dessert that's my business -_-

http://www.taste.com.au/images/recipes/agt/2011/03/26931_l.jpg

Mmmm... Profito Rolls.

Things are not made the same they used to be. There are many sources of sugars and many processing methods.
Instead of being a typical predicable troll reply, it couldn't hurt to learn this subject and engage in it. Isolated or enriched
sugars are the worse. Naturally harvested and produced sugar products are far less dangerous. But this isn't whats
found in most of today's packaged foods.

True, its your business. But say in 300 years, someone who came from your seed has slight or gross genetic abnormalities.
All because you chose poisons. You may not have or want children, but you also should not be complicit in influencing
others to degrade their genomes. Your very thoughts are scientifically proven to cause epigenetic changes that can
be passed to offspring.

Health is an important study. Living to very long ages without the burden of looking or feeling aged is
a rapidly approaching reality for humanity. But only those who preserve themselves genetically as
best they can will have a chance to enjoy this gift of knowledge. Already, I am helping others get rid
of cancer at home without wasting tons of money on dangerous chemo and other unnatural processes.
It's so simply most of the time. You might not want to laugh and joke about people concerned
about quality of life. Especially with all the environmental degradation affecting much of the planet.

Yes.

Grammar anal make.  Them thinking prevent.

The evidence is mounting that sugar, NOT fat, may be one of the leading drivers of heart disease via the harmful effects of fructose on metabolism

Very likely the sugar industry new about it all along and falsified the studies.  When we see how little sugar costs it's hard to imagine it driving the kind of greed we see in drug peddlers, until you consider how little it costs to produce(almost nothing) so a huge markup really, and that they have so far been able to keep a negative stigma away from it makes for huge volume.

It Ain’t The Fat… It’s SUGAR That Raises Your Cholesterol and Gives You Heart Disease

For many decades, people have blamed saturated fat for heart disease… which is the #1 killer in the world.

However… new studies are showing that saturated fat is harmless (27, 28).

The evidence is mounting that sugar, NOT fat, may be one of the leading drivers of heart disease via the harmful effects of fructose on metabolism

-snip-

it is obvious and known that over dose of sugar is really really bad, not sure what are you trying to tell here.

the WHO recommends a daily dose of ~25-30 g of sugar depending if you are male or female.
for example 100 gram of cola has 9 gramm sugar.
a can 0,33 l cola gives you enough sugar for 1 day.
US destroying the coca cola company would save alot of lifes actually.

but well all the information is public - it is even printed on your coke, people to dumb to realize or they just dont bother.

More telling, the true story of sugar(poison) peddlers:

"SUGAR: HARMFUL TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS

Shipwrecked sailors who ate and drank nothing but sugar and rum for nine days surely went through some of this trauma; the tales they had to tell created a big public relations problem for the sugar pushers. This incident occurred when a vessel carrying a cargo of sugar was shipwrecked in 1793. The five surviving sailors were finally rescued after being marooned for nine days. They were in a wasted condition due to starvation, having consumed nothing but sugar and rum. The eminent French physiologist F. Magendie was inspired by that incident to conduct a series of experiments with animals, the results of which he published in 1816. In the experiments, he fed dogs a diet of sugar or olive oil and water. All the dogs wasted and died.3

The shipwrecked sailors and the French physiologist's experimental dogs proved the same point. As a steady diet, sugar is worse than nothing. Plain water can keep you alive for quite some time. Sugar and water can kill you. Humans [and animals] are "unable to subsist on a diet of sugar".4 The dead dogs in Professor Magendie's laboratory alerted the sugar industry to the hazards of free scientific inquiry. From that day to this, the sugar industry has invested millions of dollars in behind-the-scenes, subsidized science. The best scientific names that money could buy have been hired, in the hope that they could one day come up with something at least pseudoscientific in the way of glad tidings about sugar.

It has been proved, however, that (1) sugar is a major factor in dental decay; (2) sugar in a person's diet does cause overweight; (3) removal of sugar from diets has cured symptoms of crippling, worldwide diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart illnesses. Sir Frederick Banting, the codiscoverer of insulin, noticed in 1929 in Panama that, among sugar plantation owners who ate large amounts of their refined stuff, diabetes was common. Among native cane-cutters, who only got to chew the raw cane, he saw no diabetes. However, the story of the public relations attempts on the part of the sugar manufacturers began in Britain in 1808 when the Committee of West India reported to the House of Commons that a prize of twenty-five guineas had been offered to anyone who could come up with the most "satisfactory" experiments to prove that unrefined sugar was good for feeding and fattening oxen, cows, hogs and sheep.5

Food for animals is often seasonal, always expensive. Sugar, by then, was dirt cheap. People weren't eating it fast enough. Naturally, the attempt to feed livestock with sugar and molasses in England in 1808 was a disaster. When the Committee on West India made its fourth report to the House of Commons, one Member of Parliament, John Curwin, reported that he had tried to feed sugar and molasses to calves without success. He suggested that perhaps someone should try again by sneaking sugar and molasses into skimmed milk. Had anything come of that, you can be sure the West Indian sugar merchants would have spread the news around the world. After this singular lack of success in pushing sugar in cow pastures, the West Indian sugar merchants gave up."
