The thread above could be titled "How to create a long post".

Don't change the intended concept behind writing this thread, what i intended was in giving a guide on "How to Create a Quality Post (Topic).

Those steps or tips of yours is used to create a forced topic.

I don't understand what you mean by force topics.

The quality of a post is determined by how the post affected the reader.

Remember we have individuals differences in manner of approach to things and situations around, you see something bad and another person see it as good, but we can only derive on a conclusion by considering the rate of individuals opinion on the both side.

It might not be well presented or punctuated, yet it is quality.

This aspect is very critical and mean alot when it comes to programmers writing a program or equations and any technical aspects in a post, in case you don't know, any altrance can render a whole presentation invalid and unapproved and can cost them, i think programers should know better of this. are you now telling me that the role of punctuation marks should be overlooked in making a quality post irrespective of the content?

Perfection is good no matter the situation and cost. even in writing amount of money, comma (,) and period (.) means alot, if some are doing it wrong doesn't mean you can't do it wright because you don't know what doing it wrong might have cost them.

Successful Hints to Quality Post/Topic:

Appreciate your presentation here. Anyone can have a quick lookup to understand the main context of the post.

* Check for misspelled words using dictionary
* Avoid typographical error by using good punctuations

There are some tools that can be used to solve this problem. I personally use Grammarly. In addition to grammar, I would like to name some tools that can be used to correct grammatical errors easily.

#Gramerly

#ProWritingAid

#LanguageTool

#Ginger

#Readable

* Let your topic contents be brief, understandable and straight forward

This topic could be helpful in this matter.

The thread above could be titled "How to create a long post".

Did you just say a long post? any short post content required no punctuations? or when a word is misspelled it cannot give another meaning to the former context? just consider doing what is right and best for general views, would it be proper if a post content intended for a specific purpose got wrong misconception by the viewer due to one or two error that could have been avoided, should we work on assumption about the real message such user is trying to ask or pass across?

In this forum, the quality of a post is invariably determined by the number of merits it attracted. I AM HODLING attracted tons of merits, even got 100 merits from one user,

Can you now give another instance where something of such ever reoccur on this forum?
And i will also want you to compare the rate of that with the instances of members making quality post and getting deserving merits?.

Successful Hints to Quality Post/Topic:

* Don't rush to post a topic
Mr hodler rushed his post and made some mistakes.
Quote
* Create time to research on your topic
Someone in the lesbian bar couldn't have had time to research.
Quote
* Check for misspelled words using dictionary
A drunk man doesn't know where the dictionary is.

On how many occasions have you experience this instances on the forum?

just try get drunk and act funny on the forum and see your amazing consequence within the shortest period of time.

In this forum, the quality of a post is invariably determined by the number of merits it attracted.
While the amount of merit received can be indication of post quality, its certainly not the rule and is wrong to think that merit=post quality. There are so many factors that can affect amount of merit posts receive, starting from the board where it is written. After all, I've seen plenty of c/p that received a lot of merit and quality posts that didn't get enough merit.
Yes, you are correct here, merit is not equal to quality but it is somewhat a pointer to quality. I agree with you because I have seen some quality posts especially in trading board that were under merited.
In as much as there is no automatic means by the system to assign a particular post a number of merits, it is expected that some posts would likely be buried or under-merited. A reason I appreciate threads like these; [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source by LoyceV and [Merit] Share your best topics with Merit Source by Ratimov

By that, I mean that people should likely write in a way that is kind of natural to them and their nature, subject to a simple guideline of making it meaningful is some way. With this premise in mind, all the other tips should tend to fall in line for the most.
My point and well stated here. Writing in a way that is natural to the writer is the key. Sorry to say, a newbie following the above steps strictly can accidentally turn a plagiarist by conflicting his ideas and the ones gotten from successive researches. Most often we see posts whose references are different from the body. Things like that are mostly caused by the quest to making quality posts.

One of the most iconic topics on the forum? For sure. But certainly not one of the most quality. If you read that topic, you will notice that OP knew that he misspelled hold word twice but in the end simply didn't care as he was drunk. That's certainly not a reason not to care about proper spelling hoping that misspelled word will catch on.

In general, the quality of a post cannot be determined solely by the number of merits it has received. It depends on each member as to how they decide to distribute merits. For example, a post may be extremely useful in a specific situation, or it may be humorous or entertaining, but it does not say anything about the quality of the post.

The post you mentioned received a ton of merits not for its quality, but rather because it became an internet meme. If it wasn't for the meme, I doubt anyone would have remembered it 5 years later, when the merit system was implemented.

I’d say though that all these tips are something that people should not really need to take into explicit consideration when writing here, since they ought to be more of an implicit set of considerations one may take into account. By that, I mean that people should likely write in a way that is kind of natural to them and their nature, subject to a simple guideline of making it meaningful is some way. Every newbies aim should be  about saying what they have in mind, coming out straight with whatever you are curious about or whatever problem you are  facing, if your post isn't good enough I'm sure people will tell you, mistakes give birth to corrections, this forum rules and regulation is enough to reshape a bad poster.

...especially if we are talking about longer posts/topics.
The thread above could be titled "How to create a long post". If that be the case, everything in Op is cool and acceptable when creating long posts, maybe Op failed to include provision of TABLE OF CONTENTS with links for easy navigation.

One of the most iconic topics on the forum? For sure. But certainly not one of the most quality. No doubt, Op has done a great job. My point is that there is no laid down process to make a quality post in this forum. Be real and get ample experience of the topic of discuss and general knowledge of bitcoin, add this to your natural logical reasoning, you will  witness quality coming out of you always.

And how do you think poorly formatted wall of text with no paragraphs, and missing punctuation will affect the readers? Majority will probably just skip it, even if its a solid content. Both things are important, especially if we are talking about longer posts/topics.

See a thread in this forum where a mistake of misspelling, became one of the most quality posts in this forum and a monumental word in crypto. Instead of HOLDING, he spelt HODLING.

Well I've seen a few well present topics but the actual content is bad, meaning the topic is the only good thing about the post, to me it doesn't matter if the content is actually good 👍.

Actually OP you are right. Presentation is a good thing when you are making a quality post. Right punctuation and a good line up of sentences. But of course Kingsden got a point.

  • It might not be well presented or punctuated, yet it is quality.
  • It could be a simple answer to a question

Some topics here that are quality arent that well presented as long as the idea and grammar are well impose then readers could considered it quality and has a good topic actually. But being responsible when creating topic isnt really a bad thing, just dont do it overrated.

How to Create a Quality Post (Topics).

I have come across many topics whereby newbies ask for the reason why the community found some of their post/created topics not suitable enough upto their personal taste or forum standard not to talk of giving it a deserving merit, I understand the need that we all demand for the best and will always appreciate seeing a nice presentation of a post looking admiring to read, understand and believe but only few people are ready to pay the demanding sacrifice to get such outstanding result, why is because we sometimes surround ourselves with "inferiority complexity thoughts" which means working on the assumption that one is already a failure without even starting yet while some don't even know it all how to create a quality post or topic, i will discuss with us some few points that could help beginners quest for creating a quality post that everyone could give a welcome idea to.

Create a Good Topic:

This is the starting point for anyone to reach out to people either to give or receive information, there must be a particular problem, idea, solution, observation or information whereby you would want to bring to public for people to learn from or guide you through, once you have such aspect noticed, then you sit down to think about how to project such area for public views, permit me to say that most spammers are the ones whose topic or title will not correspond to the main content of their topic with the aim to attract viewers which is wrong.

Research on the Topic:

Most of us who had the experience in writing a project proposal knows better how important the effect of taking research is in this regard, you have to create time in making research and consultations, make findings in that particular subject you proposed to talked about and know if it has been an already mentioned topic discussed by someone in which solution has been made already, try to find out wether if it was an inconclusive one neglected and needed to be re-emphasized, this will give you direction to know how to proceed or not before starting, just to avoid repetition.

Make a Good Presentation:

This is the branding and packaging aspect for that lucrative idea or topic you want to bring up, it can also be referred to giving your topic a sweet savor or fragrance, nice presentation is what attract attention or viewers interest to your topic, a simple illustration here i will like to give is the example of a viewing center with a black and white Tv and another with HD coloured Plasma Tv, it is obvious that the coloured Tv viewing center will attract more viewers attention than the black and white TV center all because of it presentation, same is applicable to our topics, a topic must be presentable, understandable and straight forward in other to gain public interest.

Contents of the Topic:
A solid content must have introduction, body and conclusion, this is what will give a full representation of your message and enlightenment to your topic, viewers must see the need to continue with reading what you posted to the end else they tend to regret giving a click or view on it, no body gives room for time waster, your content is the main body of your topic and must therefore be thoughtful and precise.

Examples of Good and Poor Quality Post/Topics:

1. How to eat (Poor)
Eating Etiquettes and Nutritional Requirement (Good)

2. Bitcoin law (Poor)
Bitcoin Tax and Government Regulation Overview (Good)

3. Cryptocurrency today (Poor)
Role of Cryptocurrency in Modern Economy (Good)

4. Am new here (Poor)
Am a Beginner and Need information about the Forum (Good)

5. Help me on trade (Poor)
I Need Directions on How to Trade, Am a Newbie (Good)

Successful Hints to Quality Post/Topic:

* Don't rush to post a topic
* Create time to research on your topic
* Quote appropriately with link if needs be
* Check for misspelled words using dictionary
* Engage viewers along in discussion if needed
* Avoid typographical error by using good punctuations
* Make use of good dictions and word vocabularies
* Provide necessary links and reference when needed
* Give recommendations and suggestions adequately if needed
* Be real and plain in your presentation or topic created
* Let your topic contents be brief, understandable and straight forward
* Make a follow up to your post or topic and review on feedbacks

Note:

We have three continuous process: "life, growth and learning". If doing it right is really worth desiring for with a good result then doing it wrong is a must to do away with. No any low value or substandard post is worth giving attention to, quality is what everyone bids for.
