most parents don't know what money is so they wouldn't have a hope in hell of explaining it. if I had a teenager sat in front of me now i'd tell them it was an internet currency, show them a few places where it could be spent and tell them not to blow it all on drugs.

What do you mean "not all on drugs"? so some on drugs would be good? Cheesy

Anyway, I would not bother going into details. Adults don't get it, let alone kids. We will have to wait for things to naturally reach mainstream status. You couldn't explain the internet back in the 90's to the average joe.

Kids understand money they can see... so just tell them that most money are floating around on digital ledgers {accounts} in Banks. Tell them,

someone figured out that you can put money on the internet and they bypassed Banks. They also found a way for people not to fake it, like they are

doing with fiat notes and coins. Keep it simple and they will understand... Once you start talking about Blockchains and Math, they tend to zone

out.  Roll Eyes

Yu have a nice question, bitcoin really take some time for someone to understand it, and we from now have to do any thing so that they already will have a good knowledge about bitcoin when they come to the stage when they will involve in the financial world and world business, The better idea is that we should have to introduce the subject of bitcoin in their computer classes and in the class of economics(world economics) etc.

I think to educate children and teenager about bitcoin there is no any better idea than including a chapter about bitcoin in their science book.  Wink
But i don't think government will allow this as they think that bitcoin is only used for illegal activity which is completely false, however this is what they still think about bitcoin in most of the coutries.

I'm not too sure teenagers or children would be that interested in how bitcoin works exactly. If anything, they'd be more interested in just using it and what cool things they could use it for.

Kinda like mobile phones. They don't care exactly how a cell phone works, only that it allows them to communicate, socialize and express themselves in various ways with their friends and peers.

Teenagers (most of them anyways) don't care how the internet or computers works exactly. They just care about using the internet and computers along with all the apps and games.

Just show teenagers and kids how to use bitcoin safely and the rest will take care of itself.

Bitcoin is difficult to explain. I also felt difficulties in understanding bitcoin for the firs time. Let's share how to explain bitcoin to children of teenagers. In My country I can say 98% children don't know bitcoin. In fact, bitcoin can be future money. If the children not familiar with cryptocurrency or bitcoin, how can they face the digital era in the future.

I don't think so.
In fact, I really think that teenagers or children can understand Bitcoin much better than older generation.
They are born in digital age, with Internet and they are very open for the new technologies, ideas and projects.
Also, they learn much faster than elderly people and I really don't think they will need much explanation about Bitcoin.
As soon as they see benefits of Bitcoin, they will adapt it.
I don't worry about this point at all.

I absolutely agree with you. It's much more difficult to explain Bitcoin to older generation

that is true but children is usually called to younger people, usually younger than teenagers. so i don't think it is possible or even a good idea to explain bitcoin to them at such an early stages of their lives.

I can't explain it to other adults,  infact after over a year I still don't fully understand it.

If they are teenagers and they have heard about it then they would research it on the onternet anyway... For children it's not important.

Depends on the age they are in. For children probably under 12, it's not advisable to teach them anything about cryptocurrency since it would be too much for them to understand the mechanics and the system of how it works. Besides, they might not even be interested in them.

If they are 12 and above, it would only be good to tell them about cryptos and banks when they ask for it and don't tell them too much. Only answer what they ask. Let them be fed with information on their own accord.

children doesn't need to know about currency, but teenagers does, and i think there's so many explanation video in youtube so don't wasting effort wasting your time when you can just give them about the link of video so they can learn from it,whether they will be interested or not,it's definitely depend on them

that's very good idea. but I think it should be the first step to introduce bitcoin to teenagers.

the second step is to give them an example how to send bitcoin, create wallet, etc because some people still need examples.

and the last step is to give proof of your income from bitcoin.

In the first first its too difficult to explain on children ofcourse because they are the first time hearing what is bitcoin , first you need to know them what is bitcoin what bitcoin can do with their life because if you teach a teenager to earn money they are going to learn gambling too

explain to teenagers yes but i don't think you should start explaining bitcoin to kids before explaining to them how money works and what money really is Smiley

but in general i think using a video is the easiest way you can explain bitcoin to anybody at any age. and youtube is filled with videos and some of them are actually good.

Games. Steam would be the first idea. We know teenages nowadays they love playing role-playing games and MMO's this could be the best option for them to see or will have an idea to what it is.

children dont understand banks/fractional reserves etc..

the best way to explain it is in gaming terms,

like their games assets (whether its tradable pokemon or weapons, food, healthpacks in some RPG)
these assets are stored based on the username and password.. you can send assets to someone else by knowing their username which you/they are free to hand out to anyone.. but no one can take assets(pokemon, weapons, healthpacks) from you unless they know your password and you cant send them to other people usernames without using your password to authorise the trade.

there are many websites where you can look up that statistics of who has what asset(pokemon, weapons, healthpacks) and you can use your password on many websites to move your assets to other people. the assets(pokemon, weapons, healthpacks)

the assets(pokemon, weapons, healthpacks) are not stored on just one website but linked directly to your username and many websites just store the statistics pages of what username has what asset

now the username is called a address and the password is called a private key.. do not tell anyone your private key as thats your key that should remain private. but if anyone you like wants to give you gifts or see what you have be free to tell them your address

That's not the only reason, even they understand about bitcoin, most of them aren't interested at all Sad
I tried to explain bitcoin to my friend and he understood, but he wasn't interested till i say bitcoin is a away to earn extra pocket money.

In short, teenagers (and most people) don't care much about something unless it could bring profit/advantage Roll Eyes

Teenagers play computer games. There are resources in those games.
You can go from in-game resources to money you cannot touch (credit/debit cards), then telling that it's like money, just it's not a country's money.

I think it would be better if we just let children enjoy their lives. Since they are still dependent on their parents, they don't need to learn bitcoin ASAP and as technology advances and bitcoin grows, I think they'll know about it at the right time. In regards with teenagers, mostly they are into web browsing, side job hunting and tech exploring that's why it might be easier for them to learn about bitcoin with just little supervision. Just teach them the basics, how bitcoin works and what can we do with it, as long as they get interested into it, they will make a way to learn more about it.

you don't have to be so hard about understanding and explaining bitcoin either for yourself or others.
think of bitcoin this way, you only need to understand how to use it just the way you should only understand how to use a credit card. do you know how a credit card is created? do you know what encryption it uses? do you know how a credit card atm connects to the server and pays you money,...

then you should treat bitcoin the same way too. only learn how to create a wallet (you can even use a wallet like coinbase and not worry about anything else except them banning your account) and also hot to send/receive bitcoin.

the rest of technical stuff like mining, how the network works, about encryption,.... is only for those who are interested in technical stuff Smiley
