The safest method at time of writing is to do it through a utility provided by Ledger, which is made available by an update of your hardware wallet's firmware and wallet app. This procedure does not require your to expose your private keys, so it is safe to perform. To extract your bitcoin gold using your Ledger Nano S, please refer to the step-by-step guide at https://www.coinpurveyor.com/how-to/how-to-claim-bitcoin-gold-from-ledger-nano-s/.

Good luck!

Hello,

Please help me. How can I get bitcoin gold on Ledger Nano (not S).

Thanks

Ledgers stance was originally that they would not be supporting it on the Nano, this seems to have now moved on to "evaluating" so you could just wait and see.

Otherwise the easiest thing to do is probably buy a Nano S and restore your wallet using your original Nano 24 word seed.

Thanks A lot!

For future reference, if someone is searching for this information like I did - the Split Tool option is a tiny text in the screen where you select between SegWit and non SegWit bitcoin, after you open the chrome app. It's there in the bottom. I missed it a couple of times until I figured it out.

Yes, VERY VERY VERY discrete placement.   Wink

Year! Even with this hint I could hardly see it! Thx for sharing this info!

Bitcoin Gold is now accessible on the Ledger Nano S.  Hooray!!!!!  The software for the Ledger Nano S is available, but I don't believe their tech support is actively supporting it as of this post.  So use caution.  Here is how you can access it.

Step 1 ) Verify that you have Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome app v.1.9.9
Step 2) Verify your Ledger Nano S firmware is up to date v.1.3.1
Step 3) Install the Bitcoin Gold app on your device via the Ledger Manager
Step 4) If you do not have room on the device, simply delete one of the other apps.(don't worry your coins will be safe, just re-install app and they will be there)
Step 5) Launch the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome app on your computer
Step 6) Launch Bitcoin Gold app on your ledger device
Step 7) Click on the "BTG split tool"line on the chrome app (near the bottom)
Step 8 ) Select either legacy / segwit chain depending how your wallet is set up.
Step 9) Let the app sync - This will take a few minutes.
Step 10) Viola!! There is your Bitcoin Gold
Step 11) Now you can either hold your coins in this wallet or send them to an exchange.

Replay protection has been enabled so your original BTC is safe.

**Be aware that one of the complaints about BTG is that it is unstable.  So there may be risk associated with moving it around.  Please understand the risks and exercise caution.

Cheers

BTW: Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome app has changed to v.1.9.10

Problem: There is no "BTG split tool" line on the chrome app showing up.

I did the whole procedure but at the end when I enter in BTG I have 0 BTG. I had some BTC before, while and after in Ledger Nano S at the time of the fork (I did not move them).

I miss something?

EDIT: solved.. I did refresh page and voilà there were my BTG Wink

Cases of hacking wallets have recently become more frequent. I know about the cases with https://blockchain.info/ and the bittrex exchange. People downloaded bitcoin gold for themselves. After that, they lost money.

Hi,

I bought some btc this month and stored in ledger nano S also got my 24 seed/private key but I do not see btc gold anywhere till now after the fork. How do I get my btc gold from ledger nano S.

Note: I just started buying some bitcoin so I am not much of a crypto expert so please elaborate steps if you have any suggestions. Thank you

You need a soft convert seed to private key, and import private keyto wallet support BTG ( but you must sent all BTC to other wallet to secure yor BTC)
