I guess if you have lots of money but behave weak, people will probably not give you much respect.
This is part of the reasons certain rulers try to look larger than they actually are. If you properly decentralize power they will likely try to behave humble, fearing the subject instead.

To have True Power (the one from our CREATOR) you have to be humble or become servants to those you are leading. Such humble leaders always look powerless/poor and the subjects could take advantage of the humility and start disrespecting the leaders. The humble leaders are encouraged to be patient with the subjects. But, you have to be careful the humble leaders don't get too angry, if they do, the earth could shake in a ways that make the subjects quickly realize the Great Power the humble leaders have.

In real life respect and money both are separate, but for many selfish people its more about higher the money they will respect more to them. Else just be nice to people, speak in a good manner and respect others so naturally you get back the respect. Just be yourself and do not lie which breaks the trust and relationship.

The best saying in my opinion is to treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. If you don't show respect to others they wing show you respect either. So it's best to respect every human and be kind to them. I strongly believe in karma. Also there is a difference between having respect and being afraid of someone. Just because some has a lot of money and is powerful, doesn't mean that he is respected.

It's no rocket science how to be respected even if you're just a simple person as they say. You don't need to be rich to get the respect that you want. Just like the famous quote about begetting respect, that's all you need to do.

Respect from others is nothing if you don't feel it inside yourself.

Spend time with people who really care about you.
Don't ever allow yourself to be "used".
Never allow anyone to treat you like a doormat.

In my opinion, only honesty makes us able to get respect from other people, even though we are poor and don't have much money.
But if we always attach importance to honesty above all else. I believe 100% we can get respect from other people.
