I use LoyceV Notification Bot.

It doesn't require telegram, which is a plus to me.

 https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/loycevs-notification-bot-7-days-retroactive-5331343
Sorry for dumb question, but I haven't used this bot, so, I curious to know. How you actually know that you got notification? As I understand, it goes to loyce.club website. So, do you have to manually check website to see whether you got notifications? Also, I read it's get updated only once in hour, but still, it's good alternative if you don't use Telegram.
Updates are every few minutes, settings are read once per hour. You can use check4changes or similar extension, but I just check my personal URL. I don't want notifications when I'm doing something else.

I check my personal URL just before I use the forum, LoyceV said . About 2 or 3 times a day (I am a heavy forum user lol)

I don't like telegram because it needs a phone number to create an account, and I don't want to mix my personal contacts with my forum identity

The features on this forum is quite easy to understand, mostly with it being legible enough.
Buttons like 'watch', 'notify,' is situated at the bottom right corner of any post comment on a thread/topic, all one needs to do is click and active it.

Also, notifications on a thread or comments or tag, wherein you were mentioned can also be gotten via email notifications. Input your email and link to your Bitcoinforum account. poof, voila, you will now get called in and notified for new updates, messages, comments, tags, mentions.

How do I get notified when someone calls or tags me so I can respond? I see some settings  in the profile but I can't find any settings related to this one.
I have seen many members automatically know when someone is calling them and go there to answer,

If you have telegram in your phone then you can use bitcointalksupernotifier In order to be updated if when your name is being mentioned if your topic have replied, casue all you need to do is to set up the bot and then you will be notified once there's a reply or receive. Also there's a goof tutorial who replied to you so you can do it and then enjoy to your journey here in forum . And don't forget to know the rules and regulations in order to avoid such mistakes .

You seem to have used the wrong terms in relating your concerns when you talk about “calls and tags” although, we get what your trying to say but, in forum terms, the word is “quote”.

Forum by deign didn’t put any configuration in place to notify you on response to your posts with excepting of threads. Even on threads that aren’t of your origin, you could still get a notification in place on any response to that thread but, it might not be specifically on your post.

To get notification on your post, you can use adhoc bot services designed by some established and grounded users of the forum. There are several threads that have been created to support this prompt notification in conjunction with your telegram. Follow the procedures and you would be set.

Regarding messages that come to you from a member through the forum, you must activate receiving message notifications via email in the settings of your profile in the forum.

As for getting a notification if someone quotes your post or mentions your name, or when you receive a merit, you must use this bot: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+)

In fact, it is a wonderful tool that I cannot do without.

We have where to put On your notification and it sometimes pop up through your email and you quickly go and respond to it or you can as well check your post to see if anyone tag your post or not. I think that process is better than the notification gotten through email, is faster that way, go to your posts and click on any of them you feel like going through.

There are many ways. First you can use the notify option that is buildin in the forum. If you need push notification about new reply, merit etc you can use telegram bot fot that. TryNinja made a bot for that. Super easy to use, very reliable. You can also track specific topic with that bot. If you add the link of the post to track post option, whenever a person replies to that specific thread you will get a push notification.

If you want to be notified for each mention then you'll have to install TryNinja's [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) as that's the best option for you. Once you install that bot and after that anyone who mentions your name in a thread or post then you'll get notified for that mention.

That's the best way to see all the mentions that you get in threads or posts and you won't miss a mention with that bot. The best thing about TryNinja's bot is that it's complete free and open-source and you an add changes or extra features in it if you know software development. If you really want to see that who tags you or calls you in a thread or a post then install that bot and you're good to go. The ones who see that thing automatically are most probably using TryNinja's bot or they have made their own bots.

You'll also get notified if someone sends merit/merits to your post and you know the more merits you get the more dopamine you'll have. If you want to have dopamine plus all those extra feature then install TryNinja's bot and trust me you'll love the experience. Best of luck!

snip~~

Google Alert is complicated to set and it has a knack for skipping notifications, which you have politely presented with a single word that is slow. @bitnote, tryninja notification bot is the best way to get updates on new topics, reply on your topic, and quote replies. It is fast and it is easy to configure, you only need to have a Telegram account if you want it to work. There is only one issue with this bot, and that is its ability to accurately count the merits you receive. I am facing this issue otherwise it is the perfect Telegram bot to get instant notification from the forum.

Well you already got some options like TryNinja's Telegram Notifier (this is No.1 and the best) and on the second is LoyceV's Notification Bot.

I will give you another option (I was using this option before using TryNinja's Telegram notifier). Ok caution! Although it's not an ideal solution and works much slower then above two but you can try Smiley

You have to create a google alert like this:

Code:
bitnote site:bitcointalk.org

Above code will search for your name "bitnote" on "bitcointalk" and will send you an email notification if there's any new result.

https://www.google.com/alerts

- Click Show options then change below default settings
- Change How often: to As-it-happens
- Change How many: to All results
- Click Create Alert

Please note this all depends on Google Crawler how often it will traverse bitcointalk and how soon you will be notified.

How do I get notified when someone calls or tags me so I can respond?
  • You can always use search feature, it's does not do great help but it works just fine.
If you're referring to the results we normally get by using the default search field from the upper right corner of pages, you're right but the advanced search page works flawlessly for mentions and tags.

    @bitnote
You can use the advanced search feature in two ways:

    • Click the search tab button from the menu [upper left corner] > Type your forum name on the "Search for:" field > Choose its time period on the "Message age:" field > Click search.
    • Click the magnifier icon from the upper right corner of the page [beside search field] > Follow the rest of the steps I mentioned earlier.

In addition to using a telegram bot for notifications on merits, tags and mentions, you can also make use of the notify me button, for you to get updates on any thread this is being activated on, but this notify me button only works for tracking a thread new replies and you will get notified through your email address used in registration, the challenges with using this is that you will have to active in reading and clicking those notifications sent in other to keep you updated because once you stop checking on them, you also stops receiving the alert.

For merits and mentions or quote, use the ninjastic telegram bot which its link has been posted by other users. It is the best for me.

For replies, on each thread, you will see notify beside reply, click on it to enable new reply of post on that thread. I prefer it to ninjastic because once there are new posts, you will get only one notification instead of continuous notification on ninjastic telegram bot, but this may be about preference.

For new topics, you will see notify beside create new topic.

For forum to notify you, it would be through the email.

Because there's no feature something like that, instead of automatically watch the thread when you  reply (although you can disabled it) and to turn on the notify feature (you will receive an email when a thread have new reply). The most recommended is the telegram bot of tryninja, the one mentioned above.

They make use of a telegram notifying bot, it notifies you of any mentions, merits, new post notifications and so on. Just read on this post by TryNinja and you can also set it up for your account.

Turn on notification for a topic you want to receive notification for any reply of that topic.
Turn on notification for a board if you want to get notified for any new topic posted on that board.

You can always use search feature, it's does not do great help but it works just fine.
