Governments fear that they would loose their revenues got from taxes due to bitcoins. They should follow japan. Being a technologically advanced country, japan has shown green signal to bitcoin payments.Russia and China too have dropped their plan of banning bitcoins and have started to regulate bitcoins.Bitcoin's high volatile nature is also a big hurdle for governments to accept bitcoin.
Getting a lot of losses from revenues because of bitcoin is not that a huge problem because they can charge taxes when doing remittances and also taxing the online wallets that is available in the country so they can get benefits from the users of their wallets and at the same time they will not lose revenues because they will do charge for the wallet and also remittances.

I have a question for you. How to make governments accept bitcoin and not see it as a threat? So that one could use bitcoin in daily use, such as paying taxes or grocery shopping. What is there, other than anonymity, thats making governments fear bitcoin and cryptocurrencies?

I do think that for now it is still unachievable thats because there are still many things that the government think they don't just prioritize something like bitcoin for now. Due to all the problems, issues, and more thing to develop the government is not still interested on cryptocurrency but sooner or later bitcoin will be known by the government and they will make it as a payment option. As the price of the bitcoin is increasing and when they see they can earn from them they will get interest on them and start advertising bitcoin. Government is all about money the other flow of bitcoin is that right now the bitcoin price is still not constant but as soon as it will I pretty sure they will do accept it in no time.  Cheesy

Their all about money, when they see how government of Japan corresponds on it and gather taxes on it they'll for sure make a way to prioritize implementing bitcoin ,no matter how busy they are.
in fact still most of the states have not given any statement about bitcoin. they do not consider bitcoin as legal currency nor consider it as illegal but i am hopeful that at the then they will also accept bitcoin and will turn it as legalize currency. i think it is not only in favour of the people but also in  favour of the state.

btc will never be accepted by governments as its a threat to their fiat printing Ponzi scheme

You are wrong, do you know that Japan did accepted bitcoin so the point that you said btc will never accepted by the government is wrong. They are only thinking on the other side but they are not looking on the good side of bitcoin so it's a shame for them when they found out that bitcoin is going to help them grow their economy.
If the accepted you just mentioned here is referring to bitcoin recognised as an alternate option for payment then it's right. But, bitcoin actually have a low chance to be officially recognised by the government as the main currency taking over the older. It's like the government is giving up their whole economy. But, as you can see, even if bitcoin only considered as an alternate, it's still a good thing because it'll have wider coverage, not going to expect more because bitcoin is basically created to make freedom out of current financial rule and it's really the opposite of the reason why government exists.

Yes it's true bitcoin will not be the official currency for that country but it's just an open currency where people are free to use it. And I guess they did a big contribution for the price increase, not the whole Japan but the people there that are using bitcoin. They made a big plus to the price increase of bitcoin which is very good.

I think the governments being the tax master would appreciate it a lot if there's a way for Bitcoin to develop an ability to tax its users and pay the dividends into the government coffers. That is one sure way we can use to convince any government into accepting Bitcoin.

It's tough man.
The Government is basically composed of many ladders. There are a lot of red tapism. If you want to let them know about the importance of bitcoin then you should consult with a financial advisor. If you can convince them, then they would make it easy to establish in a general sector. But it needs  a lot of time.

I think as long as their are not prohibiting or making bitcoin users a criminal, it is ok. Even they do not accept bitcoin, people, basically the users will find  way to use or earn them, in the future they will understand how bitcoin will affect the economy of their country, without us, telling them to accept bitcoin, they will be accepting themselves.

Maybe be there will be a possibility that the government will accept bitcoin as legal currency because the country japan accept bitcoin as a legal currency so maybe there's a big chance that it could be accepted.
Only for japan's government, of course, there's no point for other countries to follow what japan have done. Though japan (only) accepts bitcoin as their legal tender but it's already made a big impact towards the demands of bitcoin, it's a good thing of course.
The anonymity of bitcoin itself actually not an obvious anonymous, everything can be traced once the owner of an address revealed, thus, it's actually not a threat to the government, just if they know it ofc. maybe government just consider bitcoin as a threat because it has the potential of taking over their economy and replace the current monetary system, but, who knows?.

Accepting bitcoins as a legal currency by governments is not a easy task. It depends upon lot of factors and the most important is the economic situation of the country. Japan and slowly India also moving towards bitcoin legalization will greatly help bitcoin to spread with more positive note and other small countries will adopt automatically seeing the big ones already in bitcoins.

Now it's actually depends on the government where the Bitcoin exists because government has a perfect knowledge about Bitcoin and how it works but they are scared because Bitcoin is being used by many fraud activities like hypes , and other ponzie schemes but on the other side government is also worried about that there taxes and their wealth revenue is getting blocked and generally Bitcoin is more secure than them and provide more interactive features like Simi-anonymous network and private key and public key concept

I agree with you, i also think that they are just waiting for the other governments like in the Japan if they can get good benefits from bitcoin and if they does then they will be in a rush mode for accepting and fixing the laws for bitcoin so they will not be left behind by the hype of accepting bitcoin as a secondary currency in their country.

When they see how bitcoin corresponds in Japan they'll try a way to use it too so when they see its really worthy then probably it will be acceptable in many governments.

A lot of people are misunderstanding this whole Japan issue

Japan is not one whole entity when it comes to business.
There is the government which sets the laws and there are the business and the customers of those business.

The government is not accepting bitcoins as the government is not taking fees or taxes.
That is the duty of the tax department.

The government issued a law that makes bitcoins payment acceptable but it does not force business to accept bitcoin payments.

For example you can't force a merchant to accept bitcoin nor can you somebody force you to accept your wage in bitcoins.

And other than that most investments would now go in crypto currencies and the government would lose profit economically but that is for countries who is still in the 3rd world. Because china is making there own altcoin and japan and australia now is accepting btc as a currency for commodities. The use banks would just to store the money u accumulated and just withdraw that was converted to fiat.

I think hongkong and russia will follow japan's step for next year, because many retail and consortium will adopt bitcoin at the end of the year, driving force is not necessarily from the government, we all will make them believe in creative and profitable business.
