being smart means not gambling in the first place, and even if you want to insist on gambling then being smart means not gambling with your money and do it for free and then again if you insist some more, being smart means not wasting your money on gambling and doing it with very small amounts like $5-$10

Rules for 'smart' gambling:

1- Know the house edge and how it plays in the game. (Read up on this)

2- Keep variance in mind. How many times can you possibly lose wih optimum strategy.

3- Get up when you aren't functioning at the top of your faculties.

4- Play a game where variance and house edge won't put you out of the game before your smart play should technically start making you money.

5- Smell something funny, leave.

80- Always have a back-up plan.

i thought that it would be easy to make a profit from gambling but what happened is i got bankrupted . we all made a bad decision at the first time but if we are going to make it again at the second time we are stupid enough .

At first we can really have a possibility to be addicted in gambling if we try in our very first try. Because we can feel the excitement in the game and also when we win, we really wanted to play more. But even if we lose a lot we can still gamble because it is really addictive. But after that game when you realize that you are just wasting your time, money and effort just to lose your money, you would be probably stay a way in gambling little by little.

But we should fight that addiction because once we are addicted and we let that enter into our lives it will make us a slave and we will gamble without a limit until such time we lose everything we have and we have ruined our life already, gambling sites does not cared because they are just here for the money.

Right. Hence the smartest way is to gamble responsibly and set limitations. Even gambling casinos have advice to only play what you can afford to lose.
