There are still legit giveaways, but if it includes sending money to others, that's not a giveaway already. It's already suspicious if they would ask you to send money first before you can receive money or if they will promise you to double that money.

Scammers will always be there that's why it's important to educate others or those people around you about this kind of tricks because not everything they will see on the internet is real. Even those big and famous accounts from celebrities since they are prone to hacking.

I've learned in the long run that there's no easy money even in cryptocurrencies. Those giveaways can be sweet as they are but you need to realize if it's a realistic giveaway. If the amount is just about $1-$10 or even $20. I think that's a realistic giveaway which you can have no worry at all but, still, you need to check all the requirements and where the money is coming in as they give it to everyone. And for the account owners, there should be a 2FA or another layer of security for popular influential people accounts.

During the early days of cryptocurrency into usage there were more giveaways. By the time the userbase was very small. Later on the demand for bitcoin kept increasing, and the same led to cyber attacks, hacks, ransom in terms of bitcoin taking control of large networks. None is gonna give free money, there needs to be some work done for the same.

You can find lot many multiplier scripts for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the market. Those were also a way to take note of private address details as well as scam people who are new to cryptocurrency usage. Myself experienced when I was new to cryptocurrency, spend more than 0.1btc and later realised the mistake. Good is to be cautious befor losing.

The thing with the recent twitter hack is that the fake btc promotion came from the verified accounts so it's really hard not to fall for it.

But every one of us does have time to seek for a tweet's legitimacy if the offer that they are willing to give is legit. We need confirmation from those celebrities if their statement is true that they do bitcoin promotion. Don't just deal with it and fall for that scam. There are a lot of ways to find the truth not only the proof of their verified accs.

The first thing people should realize is there are no free money.

There's no such thing as a free money, because all of the things in the world requires effort and contribution for you to grow as an individual or financially.

No one want double your money. If you think that there are people ready to double your money you will lose for sure.

High profile people only give money to those who are really in need like those charities, or financial support for those poor people. But a normal people like you, they will probably not give you free money or double your btc, that's very impossible to happen.

Deception in the guise of Bitcoin is spreading. The most recent and most extensive case is through hacking of a number of famous celebrity Twitter accounts on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Hackers offer a Bitcoin giveaway from those accounts. So, what are some ways to protect yourself from this mode of crime?

The perpetrators may launch social-based attacks (social engineering) against Twitter employees. Hackers access Twitter's internal systems and devices, and thus successfully tweet the Bitcoin giveaway.
For example the Kanye West account which was also hacked. The famous US musician is "tweeting" he will duplicate the Bitcoin sent to his Bitcoin address. With common logic, it is unlikely that anyone would give free money in the form of Bitcoin, without any veiled intentions.

No one will give you free money, not even Bill Gates. If it sounds too sweet, then it's certainly not true, especially in cyberspace.

It seems common and logical to you because you are aware about such scam. You know they are not true.

Most newbies fall for such scams because they think it to be an airdrop or sort and fall for it.

No one ever anticipated that so many celebrity Twitter accounts will get hacked. I would blame Twitter for not being responsible and they should refund those who had fallen for this scam.

Scamming always happen in the world of crypto or even in the real world because there are some people who have great knowledge about technology and they use it for bad things, like scamming people to have easy money, they don't even think those people who will lose their money because of the scam.

2. Always check the grammar of every text on the website.
3. Check the reviews of the website.
Good tips buddy, always check the source link, if you see any unusual things on it then you should doubt trying it.
A legit website always has good grammar so better to check the grammar of the instruction of the website.

There are many ways of scamming people, it always happens in the world of crypto because there are still many people who don't even know how to differentiate legit and fake websites. One of the common ways of scamming people is creating clone websites or fake investment websites, They offer good thing, some says to double your money for only few days which is obviously a scam because there wouldnt be a legit website that will give that kind of interest. It would be their big lost if that is legit.

Here are some tips to identify fake websites.
1. Always check the source link, if there is "not secured" then you have to be careful, there are also some fake websites that has "secured" at the source link, to identify if it is fake, you have to check the link if there is wrong spelling. The first thing people should realize is there are no free money. You need to contribute one way or other to gain some. Airdrops are a way to increase the social presence and advertise about the project but never expect anyone to send you some money without a reason. There were some smart contract that initiated coin distribution after receiving some coins but no legit system would ask you anything above $1 to get an airdrop.
Indeed, there is no website that will give free money without any reason. It is just like in our real-life thing where there will be no people who will give you money for no reason unless you are one of those
 less fortunate people.

There are legit free (without capital investment) bitcoin giveaways even on twitter but it's not like the "send me btc and I'll double it" scheme by scammers. The giveaways I'm referring to are competitions like meme, creating songs or other forms.

Adding to @cryptomaniac_xxx said, ask the bitcointalk community when in doubt. But it's better if you can already tell which ones are legit and not.

This is the very problem of the majority.
Even cryptocurrency or non-cryptocurrency. Most of the people who fall for these kinds of frauds are those people who want easy money or those people who really don't have any idea, but we can't blame there, but we should educate.
It's just hard sometimes, especially on my experience before when I tried to educate my friend, that I am telling that giveaway he mentioned is fake for me, he didn't believe to me.
