If I want my friend to be interested in bitcoin, what should I say to him if he ask "Where should I start?"

Well first show him what btc is all about, show him this forum, how can he buy something, pay for anything, and at all the ease of transactions.

To get your friend interested in bitcoin, you first need to know what kinds of advantages of bitcoin over fiat is most relevant to him.

If he is interested in gambling, you can show him how he can do bitcoin gambling easily.
If he is using paypal or other payment systems to buy stuff, accept payments or give donations, you can show him how he can use bitcoin payment at a lower cost.

My approach would be to show him how to download the wallet, how to receive a payment (from me), and how to send a payment out, and answer all his questions he has. Hopefully he will find bitcoin easy enough to understand and use.

That's a tough one. It's kinda difficult explaining Bitcoin to new comers, especially if they're not tech savvy, but I'll say the Rise and Rise of Bitcoin documentary can be a good start. Explaining the concept of a single wallet is easy, but then it'll become a bit hard when it comes to multiple wallets and multisig and the rest of it. Also, obviously, get him to join the forums. Lots of helpful people and advice here.

Make him read the whitepaper by [email protected]. Also introduce him to several images that show bitcoins (search bitcoin image description) and also show him some faqs on www.blockchain.info

 Grin are you kidding me?

just tell him to open an account at circle.com . there he will get his first BTC for free and can play with it.

maybe you show him the new docu Rise and Rise of BTC too.
are they still doing that?

some weeks ago yes. but its also a very user friendly wallet service with two factor and insurance.
noob friendly!

To get him interested, you should show him the advantages of bitcoin such as low transaction cost, fast payment, decentralization, payment irreversibility, anonymity (if used correctly), etc.

To help him learn about bitcoin, you should show him https://bitcoin.org/, http://www.coindesk.com/information/ and bitcointalk.
