A true "gambler" is never going to quit. They're always going to have the urge. It starts to not even be about money at a certain point, you are just chasing the high you felt on your 1st big win.

The only real way to stop is find a hobby or a girl/man to fill your time, but even then the urge will come again at some point.
I totally agree with you, because having a partner and partner also supports us to stop, we will stop soon even though there are stages.
and I feel it because before marriage I could be said to have actively played gambling, especially traditional gambling games, and after marriage because I have an important need for my wife and also my future goals, this has made me stop gambling. And to be more precise, I stopped when I had my first child because of the growing need. And before that I still gamble occasionally and even then I use online gambling which I do on Saturdays after I'm tired of working, and even then with a small capital that I can afford to lose.

hat's because noone uses the search feature and people want to hit their post quota for the week, so they make a new thread where they can answer people over and over and help get that quota.

I actually mentioned this before that there exists this "gambler's cycle" where an addict suffers the endless cycle of chasing their winnings only to end up with more losses.

I didn't notice that you already mentioned that in your previous comment on the topic, but chasing a particular direction for long will only lead to more of recurrent loses and this is something that most gamblers try very hard to fight against to avoid the early stage of adductions, but then some are still caught up in all of this dramas.

Some casinos too have helped with the development of some strategies that help gamblers avoid such situations such as the stop-loss feature on exchanges or the self-exclusion on casinos these are all aimed at helping gamblers to avoid any possibility of falling uncontrollable behaviours.

I don't know if I'm wrong but there seems to be a lot of threads that have the same title as this before and discuss how to stop gambling addiction,

It's not rocket science and it happens over and over and over.

A true "gambler" is never going to quit. They're always going to have the urge. It starts to not even be about money at a certain point, you are just chasing the high you felt on your 1st big win.

I agree with you. When everything is still logical and can still manage finances. Gambling is still a fun activity to fill boring time. But it's not complete if  haven't got maxwin. when looking for maxwin a lot of money lose, and become a gambling addict

I just thought the money that I allocated was enough, so every time I lose, I will increase my bet times two, which at first is working, but later on it is getting bigger and bigger until I lose it all. No matter how small your bet is or how big your budget is, as long as you keep chasing your losses, you'll lose more.

I also initially had success by increasing the bet. But it didn't work in the next try. The more often I raise the bet, the more money I lose. I had stopped gambling when my money ran out.

But apparently it wasn't 100%, when I started collecting money, suddenly I tried to play gambling again. And I spend the money that I lose in a day to play gambling. That's so bad. I'm back in gambling.

This year I am practicing to control my finances. Play only with small bet with 10% income. Hopefully I don't get emotional and lose logic when playing gambling. maybe stopping playing gambling is hard, but I'm trying to manage it

For those who have a real problem with addiction of any kind, including gambling, the only real help is to seek professional help. This usually refers to help in the form of professional psychologists, who of course are not cheap, but I have noticed that there are more and more free phone supports for those who feel that they are becoming addicted.

As for professional help, I haven't tried it. Maybe when I fail to manage my finances again, I will choose this option. Thank you friend

However, I think that people should be influenced at a young age so that they know how to face such problems if they find themselves in them, but also everyone should be able to recognize when someone has such a problem and try to help them. Society tends to marginalize such people, but this is completely wrong, because the problem is not only in someone's addiction, but also in the influence of these people on our everyday life.

I don't know if I'm wrong but there seems to be a lot of threads that have the same title as this before and discuss how to stop gambling addiction, but I and the community here can't guarantee that they can help you because to stop gambling addiction you need to cooperate with yourself , because when people help you and give advice it doesn't necessarily help you if you don't start it yourself.

Gambling is just for fun, what you mean is maybe you set a winning target so that it makes you feel bored and try to bet more but you lose more without realizing it and you want to catch up on lost money, I think it's impossible someone's addiction starts with feeling want to pursue to return the money that has been lost, you know that gambling has this risk consciously, so when you lose and lose money you have to accept defeat and start to play like your original goal, have fun with gambling without having to earn a lot of money.  Wink

........ it is very difficult to be able to stop gambling. How to stop gambling? Meanwhile, a lot of money has been lost, and how to return the lost money.

Yes, it's indeed very difficult once it gets hold of you, it's hard to get out of your system, you will learn how to lie how to cheat, and how to hide your addiction.

Only a professional can help you to stop gambling, you can hear the best advice about how to stop gambling but only a professional can lay out a plan that you can follow because professionals have different approaches for every gambler.

You never think or even plan to win back money that you've lost, it's very risky and you can end up in misery or deep in debt if you try to win back your losses.

Everything that is too much is bad including eating. Sometimes it is not addiction, it's about the lack of discipline to put money that we are only capable of losing.  Then comes the urge to take back the losses which makes some gamblers continue gambling with money that is beyond its budget. This time, it needs to seek professional help.

So it's like it is better for someone that gambles daily but is responsible enough than someone that is not a regular gambler but always wanted to take back the losses which makes matters worse.

Nowadays there are a lot of choices for us to do once we are done playing or gambling with our allotted time and budget. There's not even enough free time for us to do them all.

There have been many threads that have the same points as how to stop gambling and overcome gambling addiction or avoid gambling addiction.
Maybe there isn't a really effective way to control or stop gambling addiction, but at least there are some things that can be done to minimize gambling activities.
1. Looking for more positive activities that take up enough time so gamblers can forget about gambling a little.
2. More often to interact with family because family can make a person happier and feel warmth in gathering with people he loves.
3. Avoid any form that can lead back to gambling such as gathering with gang members who like to gamble or visiting gambling places. If gambling with an online casino, you can delete several browsers used to access gambling sites.
4. Set aside money or save money from part of your income so that you don't feel like you have money to gamble.
And actually there are many more, but that's all not guaranteed because success depends on the intentions and efforts of a gambler when he wants to stop.

Continuing on this pattern of chasing losses will lead to more losses and possible addictions and this has been the major cause of gambling addictions so if you see that you are chassing after losing too much then you need to have a pullback to avoid sinking into addictions.

I actually mentioned this before that there exists this "gambler's cycle" where an addict suffers the endless cycle of chasing their winnings only to end up with more losses.

In order to actually help yourself in combating addiction, you must first acknowledge that you are indeed suffering from it. Once you have recognized that it is about time to take action, there lies infinite number of possibilities and solutions to this. But from several threads that also asked the same question, one answer remains above all- which is to remain dedicated and consistent with action.

Try to substitute your addiction with different activities to keep your mind busy. Remember, this is also not an easy process where you can get out in an instant- it takes years to become addicted to something; and it will also take some time in order to address it.

if you have reached this point, it is very difficult to be able to stop gambling. How to stop gambling? Meanwhile, a lot of money has been lost, and how to return the lost money.

You should open up to others with your problem and start accepting that there’s problem within you on handling gambling addiction. Addiction is very hard to stop without sharing it with others since you will always just coming back on gambling whenever you feel alone. As you already said, Casino is very convenient now because you can only gamble by just sitting in your computer or even on restroom with your mobile phone.

If you have gambling addiction problem but shy to open up to your relatives or partner, You can use our very own problem gambling support group to open up your problem so that we can help each other regardless of knowing each other personally.

In the era of everything digital, everything can be done from a smartphone and computer device. including gambling activities. There is no longer a need to go to the casino, just sit back and play with small money.

I think many people initially played gambling just for fun. Only placing small bets to fill the time when boring. Most people already know that playing gambling has a greater chance of losing than winning.

However, it doesn't feel like a lot of money has been lost. The only way you can think of to make up for lost money is to increase the bet. With the hope that 1 win will return the loser's money. Unexpectedly, the money lost is getting bigger and bigger. If the money has run out, then borrowing is another alternative to playing gambling. Not felt, has become a gambling addict.

First of all you should stop thinking about how returning the lost money as there is no sure way to do it,what is lost in gambling is lost and you should start by quitting and forgetting that amount. After that the person should stop gambling if he cannot keep himself without getting into trouble aka losing more money chasing the lost amount.I have been addicted for some years but in late 2020 I managed to quit and to do that I set predefined bankroll weekly and never passed it no matter if I lost or won.I kept doing that for several weeks until my self control grew in confidence and now I can say I am addiction free,of course I overdo it once or twice in a lot of time but that is trying your luck more than becoming addicted.

You will really learn a hard lesson on this because you will lose more. I remember this before when I was betting a crash game. I just thought the money that I allocated was enough, so every time I lose, I will increase my bet times two, which at first is working, but later on it is getting bigger and bigger until I lose it all. No matter how small your bet is or how big your budget is, as long as you keep chasing your losses, you'll lose more.

Try to decrease the intensity to play it. I think that this can be done only by yourself. It's caused by you have intention to stop from being addicted with it and then decreasing the intensity will be very effective. Try to avoid to touch with anythings that related to it.

Try to think use gambling for the entertaining purpose only. it's not the way to make instant money in a short time. There have been many people who have been wrongly taking it as a money machine that can give them all instant profit.

You can't stay away from your addiction instantly but you can try to slowly and surely moving away from your addiction.

Smartphone has made it easier to access Gambling websites from anywhere. Now you don't need to visit a casino to gamble. Making it moe addictive than it was before. Once in a while gambling doesn't form an addiction. When the once in a while automatically becomes a daily need then it is called addiction. There are two ways to control gambling addiction.

1. Self control
2. Professional help.

Self control doesn't mean resisting your addiction. It means controlling you spending habit. Allocations a fixed budget and gambling within it will help in reducing the risk of this addiction. It will help you to satisfy your urge and will not destroy you financially. Self control is easy to explain but hard to adopt.

If self control doesn't work then the last option is to take professional help. When you know you will get destroyed and your will power is unble to takeover the urge of gambling, then you should go for professional help. Consider it to the the last resort.

Deleting all the bookmarks linked to gambling, and your browsing history + your cookies will already eliminate the suggestions made by your browser and this will prevent you from being reminded of gambling sites as soon as you go online.

Otherwise, don't forget that you can request Self-Exclusion periods from regulated casinos, those where a KYC is required. This allows you to link your identity to self-exclusion for a chosen period and thus limit the risks of falling back into gambling.

Some casinos and online platforms also offer Cool-off periods of several weeks/months, when you need to take a break. During these periods, you cannot gamble.

Otherwise, more or less every country has institutions responsible for blacklisting people with gambling addiction problems, and you can spontaneously ask them to blacklist you for life, or for a few months/years. For example, in UK : https://www.gamstop.co.uk/

The only limit to this is if you use non-KYC gambling platforms, but that depends on the user only and no one could assist him in this last case.
