Op it's good to remind us on how to go with New Year resolution, many made different kind of resolution but can't sustain it or achieve it. Although it's not necessary to achieve all resolution made but it's important that one should try as much as possible to achieve it despite all odd.

My opinion to resolution making one should cut down yearly target on what he/she desire for the year in order to achieve it easily as making allot of plan for the year always run one down and end up not achieving it. This has courses allot of problem face by some people as making diverse effort to meet up so many plan run them int sickness and others danger.

How to keep a resolution for the new year
Similar to last year, we have made resolutions for the new year as it is the beginning of the year. Due to the fact that you failed to keep your resolutions from prior years, you may have stopped making resolutions altogether. You weren't unable to keep those resolutions because you were unmotivated or incapable; rather, it was because you never gave it much attention.
Here are some strategies for sustaining ones New Year's resolution.

Make resolutions that you can actually achieve. You cannot set goals based only on your desires.
Write down your resolutions on a sticky note or in your diary so that you can remember them every day. Even better, set a calendar reminder.
Every day, make progress toward that goal. For example, if one of your goals for the new year is to read two books every month, start by reading at least one page each day.
To check off everyone you managed to do, use an app or calendar.
Finally, keep going; whether you skip a day or a month, it makes no difference; just pick up where you left off.

You can add your own suggestions.
Actually, making resolutions for each year and making every efforts to work according to them is good, resolutions comes with a lot of responsibilities and commitment so that you can achieve your goals but it is not a must that you should fulfill all your lay down resolutions of what you want to achieve for the year, any one you are unable to meet up within the time frame you expected it, you should move on to the next one and forget about the one you've already missed and continue living. Life is not always about meeting up with your set goals but to reach out to others who couldn't afford to earn a living or are less privilege, show some love to others around you because even if you become fulfilled in life, one day you will leave the earth and what others can remember you of is your good deeds and not your achievements while alive.

I believe the best way to keep up resolutions and sustain then through time is by making them part of our daily routine. It is easier to continue to do something through time if we do so daily, in a regular basis and keeping a little bit of our time at night or in the afternoon for it.

Also, nother way to continue with a resolution in the long term, it would be by sharing that resolution with another person who is interested to reach the same goal. For example, it would be more encouraging for one if a friend wanted to learn English like us, so we get in touch with get and promise to practice English together once or twice a week, it would be less likely for both of us to drop out the resolution and objective to learn english, it obviously also applies to anything like exercising, studying and finding a new job.
This year, I have not chosen any resolution, so it could be for the next one. Tongue

Well, this means setting goals to evaluate progress that are realistic given the present situation and are important to you, and have a time limit for when you want to achieve them, as well as having someone who can help you stay on schedule as well as offer support when you're experiencing difficulties, such as a friend or a family member. Instead of focusing just on the objective, consider the habits and behaviours you must cultivate in order to achieve it. For example, if you want to read two novels every month, you may make it a habit to read for at least 30 minutes each day. That way, even if you don't accomplish your goal of reading two novels each month, you're still making progress toward the habit of reading everyday.

This is one thing people finds difficulty in doing including me myself because there are lots of things in human mind more especially married, i know it's more earlier with the singles why because they don't have any distraction of focused rather than themselves and make wealth or even seeking for job.
You may planned how your year should move but due to something unusual may happen and get you off from the track. Like for example, if your budget was saving money every week to acquire some properties you would see that immediately you starts making your savings something from no where will rise to divide the money.

The best way to sustain it is to keep yourself motivated.
Remember why you make your resolution list and why you want to change, if those memories couldn't motivate you to work on your list then I don't think nothing would.

The best way to sustain a new year resolution is to write it where you can see it each day especially in the morning,  so you can have that consciousness as you walk into the rest of each day until that resolution becomes a belief system or a culture

Remind yourself of your resolution each day by saying it out loud
you could still see it and pass by without trying to achieve any of the resolutions, I'd rather say, the best way to achieve this is convincing yourself on why you need it done and how you intend to carry out the assignment also, work on procrastination, this can deter any plan you've made, so as much as possible, avoid the act of procrastinating.

Making resolution is good but achieving it, is better, it is very challenging most times to make decision on what not to do and what to do and stand by it, it might require you ti deny yourself thing you see as pleasure in other to accomplish this task but for surev it is achievable it all depends on individual, If it is a behaviour that you feel that is not right and you want to stop it just work on your mundset and take charge of yourself if you notice that is your friend that's influencing you just unfriend him or her gradually to achieve your goal, be it whatever you want to achieve just start from little you will get to something in a twinkle of eye. absolute decision is the key to resolution.

For me I would just remind myself why I set up those resolution.
To be honest I didn't have any new year resolution but when Feb enter's there was a certain thing that I want to change on my self.
And I lost the motivation to do it but today I started working on my goal to change my life, and whenever I feel like being lazy again I would just remind my self why I want to change and why I needed it.

Firstly, I will say prayers are needed, you need God's intervention.
Secondly, put those your new year resolution in a written form, maybe in your phone or in your dairy, let it serve as a reminder to you that this are the things you promised yourself either to do, or to stop doing this year,
Everyone has his/her new year resolution, some persons might want To marry
Build a house,
Buy a car,
Quit some bad habits etc.

But which ever way it is, in other to achieve it, avoid people that don't have same vision with you, be punctual with hard work,
if it's in terms of quitting bad habits like smoking, drinking etc, avoid friends who smoke and the areas where the smoking its been done.

Even when you post it on your chicken wall, toilet wall or any wall  in the house it one takes discipline to follow it up. If you don't discipline yourself and follow it up it will be a total waste of time,

Written it down and discipline yourself to the routine of it will help you achieve the desired goals you want to achieve before the year runs out.
If it's actually a habit you want to stop then you have to avoid anything that will bring you close to that, I remember a friend who wanted to stop smoking badly he had to go as far as avoiding any social gathering with friends as he sees them to be the one influencing him negatively.

My 2023 resolution was to meditate and exercise everyday.

It is not hard to keep resolutions. It is only difficult if you forget them.

Every resolution is achievable. It only persistent that brings them closer to getting it accomplished. One of the ways i have resolved to handle my resolution for the year is admit failure if it comes and work on what failed and know why it failed so i can start building from there.

Sustainability of the new year resolution lies in our capacity to follow after them and working towards the realization i to our daily life, most times we are only desperate about some needs only when we are urgently i to them but once we got relieved of it small we easily forgot the path to take in other to avoid further reoccurrence in the future, why should it be on new year's alone that we should make new resolutions, this can be done at any point in life or at any stage when we needed to, it's helps set a new target and crave for a change about a particular condition or how the situation of things were, which all begins with a right thinking from the mindset at first.
Yes I agree with you, and you also need discipline in order to keep up with that resolution
Because without discipline you might be tempted to break or go against the resolution and by so doing the set out goals won't be accomplished.
You have to keep up with every process involved in that resolution physically and mentally just to make sure the process are followed in order to achieve the set out goals so discipline is Also very important in making new year resolutions.

Many people have debated that the best way to sustain a new year resolution is to make it a lifestyle thing. Make everything you have vowed to do a part of your daily activity. Let it be a part of your life, that way you can not forget what you have promised to do or not do. If you said you will not smoke, start doing things that will make you not to smoke. Keep yourself away from any environment that will trigger smoking fantasy again. Resolutions should not only be made by mouth, they should be put into practice.
I agree with you, many people talk about new year resolution without even knowing the meaning, that is to say many people get it all wrong. New year resolution comes in different ways depending on the area of your life you want to improve on, like what you said about smokers, some people new year resolution may be how to save, while for some people new year resolution is about the beautiful places they want to visit and go spend their money. for instance, my new year resolution may be to buy a car and to do that I will have to cut off my expenses and start saving for it, while your own may be to travel to one of those countries just for visit. But what I can say about new resolution is by setting a new goal for the year and things to achieve and things to cut off.

I think a new year resolution is a flawed mindset to begin with. Like if you really wanted to change an aspect of your life, why would you wait for an arbitrary date to start? you'd just start asap.

It's like when people keep setting dates in the future of when they will start a diet, that's how you know they don't actually want to diet.
Some people already knew what they wanted this year and started late last year, and made it more serious by turning them into resolutions for this year. For those who started Last year, the resolutions will be easier for them to keep. If you just started this year to act on your resolutions, discipline is key and you just have to always remind yourself why you taking that step.

The longer you manage without breaking the resolution the easier it will be.

I had a resolution to stop drinking hard liquor because I used to get drunk on every party and last time I did it was on NY Eve when I drunk so much that I was vomiting for 2 hours, not joking. So I told myself that I won't get drunk again and I'll just have a beer next time I go out and it's been almost a month and I haven't touched whisky or vodka.
I wish all of you guys with resolutions manage to keep it.
Abiding by the decisions you made as a new year resolution might not be easy, especially when it relates to the issue of addiction. This is because you would always face triggers that tends to push you or motivate one to go back to the past negative habits. I have once made a new year resolution and broke it the next day because I was indiscipline. Keeping to your new year resolution takes a lot of willpower and discipline.

One of they ways I try to stick to my new year plan is to outline the advantages and disadvantages of my decision. Someone that decides to quit smoking might derive benefits like improved health, increased savings, reduced societal stigmatisation and improvement in personal hygiene. This benefits cannot be commensurate with the temporal and harmful pleasure that smoking offers. Weighing the benefits and demerit helps me to hold on to my decision regardless of the temptations to break the resolution.
