He made the prediction when the market was at about $700, made that comment when it was at about $600, the coin dropped to $520, did the $102 blip then did the $500+ thing again until about 6am when it stared to hover about $600+ until 9am est.

Do you think BitcoinSteve is responsible for the dip to $102?

They've all known about this type of double withdrawal attack for well over a year. Gox is the only one suffering because they have shitty software and poor accounting.

Also you don't counter it by using timestamp/quantity/price. You use tx outputs/inputs which can't be changed.
