Pretty much as before only adjusted the cross bar slightly and some of the shading.

I am sorry to announce that your submission has been revoked due too fraud.
Also your account will be banned from this competition.

For anyone else who is thinking about submitting someones else design.
I warn you, there is a chance you will get away with it.
But if you don't all your previous designs will go down the drain as well.

LT

Too bad because we liked that one.  Good thing we found out now.  Well done LT!

LT has been doing some amazing detective work and has identified and made contact with the owner of the image. They are able to prove this if needed.

I've been trying to contact tighe to see if he would like to offer an explanation.

Cheers,

I thought he said that it was his design but that the guy who wanted it done didn't pay him for it ?

I wanna contribute!

I'm leaving my examples here:

FYI: It's based on this unicode http://unicode-table.com/en/210D/
so you could use it for money, like: ℍ30,000

It resembles gym weights (heavy) as well as keeping the H intact. Works great on any kind of background and has a damn good reading for the ℍ even if the logo is implemented small on somewhere. It has its full name on top of the coin, not just the symbol, making it easier to understand in the beginning, and already sends a message by poiting this is the first democratic coin.

We could make some imprevements, of course, but I wanted to show you already.
Please tell me what you think.

EDIT, forgot this:

See ya!

I'm glad that you mentioned my logo as one of the top contenders Keccak, I thought maybe I was way off track about what you wanted. I'll make some changes according to all the advice you guys gave out and will definitely resubmit something more to your liking. Thanks for the encouragement.

It's not supposed to be based on an anvil but on a weight symbol.

Thanks.  updated my english.

Like: concept and design, simple, clever formation of anvil from letters, different shape
Dislike: nothing really...
Suggestions:
  • maybe the little ring at the top can be removed
  • maybe could use some color/texture
  • maybe want to lose background and bring the whole thing forward and give it the shape of anvil?

Like this one:

An anvil looks like this (totally different shape):

Thanks to all for your submissions.

Here's some comments on the logos that we thought were stronger candidates.  They are in no particular order, but here are our comments.

Like: like silver metallic shininess of letter; doing something interesting with arrow (shows action?)
Dislike: gear looks KDE-ish; not completely sure about arrow

Like: different shape, simple, nice that H maps to unicode
Dislike: don't like how additional cross looks

Like: textures
Dislike: too complex, h is unclear, colors too dark

Like: Cool texture, looks heavy
Dislike: feels to much like a "game logo".. too dark. not commercial enough

Overall: Message should not be simply that Heavycoin is heavy, but that it hash substance, as in gold is heavy.

Special thanks: mumbly and luckytiger you're doing an excellent job.

LOL. I got the youtube comment.

I thought it was an interesting thing to do and its interesting to see what kind of things look good.
I think it looks fairly sleezy, but had to find out. Anyway good luck.

Hi everyone, and congratulations to those mentioned in keccak512's post

The offer always stands, contact me if you want someone to bounce around ideas with when thinking about your next iteration.

For the new submissions:

@CoinExchange - good shape man, with the Latin you used it looks like there might be an imbalance in the left vs. the right side (one long word opposite a short one), Have you thought about evening these words out? If you want to play with this I found a couple of samples you might find interesting:

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ5uEixHXb591PY354w0bcAwhOpm52CGzMAPkNxwBOmbbMkTFxu
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRHTdmTayyIh_2Vusf4E4YyP2VSbt61e5IwIFOc3YJmsiV6e6nc2w
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSWlL2nKif93rLH82_fBvdEV1Igu5mcqrj8eLFIfnpzu4gd-Adm

For the Latin quote itself, I found this link a few days ago that has a bunch of common Latin expressions, just for inspiration:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Latin_phrases_(full)

@tighe - you already know that I like this logo, not much to add here

@crazy58 - This is your best work man - congratulations. Keep in mind that we ask you to only post a logo once (I can see this was posted on the last page also)

In any case, you are making great progress with your composition.

@Trivelius - there's a really nice shape to this mate - I'd suggest you play with the absolute white colour in the background - maybe a subtle grey colour would keep the contrast but give the whole design "body"?

@JamesR1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6DmHGYy_xk

@Mjbmonetarymetals - sir, you've been my problem all day Smiley I've probably spent most of my time trying to find a flaw in your submission, but from a technical point of view, there simply isn't one. Even the shadow on the "H" character is raised to make sure the dimension of the H shape above the coin is maintained.

I don't even need to congratulate you. This is simply perfect execution. To make something like this you know that already.

To top it all off, the "capitol H with a line at the top" character even maps to an existing unicode one: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%C4%A6

I mentioned the idea of using a unicode character a few pages back, a very minor concern but if we are successful, could become a consideration in the future.

I found these links that talk about how Bitcoin is trying to solve this problem now:

A site explaining the problem and their idea to change the Bitcoin logo:
http://bitcoinsymbol.org/

A copy of the proposal for the existing Bitcoin logo to be added to the unicode character set:
http://www.unicode.org/L2/L2011/11129-bitcoin.pdf

Not a big point, but something a successful crypto-currency will eventually need to address, and I think generally an interesting consideration.

Have a great day guys,

Cheers,
M
