@AltcoinAuthority - couldn't agree more man! great work guys.

@Mjbmonetarymetals - submitted just as I was about to post - wow man, nice work

I'm taking a look at everyone's work at the moment to see if there are any (hopefully) useful suggestions I can offer, I'll update this post later on today.

Cheers,
M

Hey guys,

Ok, this might be a bit of a spammy night from me, apologies in advance.

I have talked to the team tonight to confirm the details of how the competition will be run, and I want to share with you what winning the competition/bounty will look like so everyone has the same information.

This is what winning/finishing this competition will look like, and what will have to happen for the bounty to be paid out:

1) Keccak512 and nomisugi will be reviewing logos on XX_FIRST_REVIEW_XX day and either post their feedback/notes or send it to me.

2) They may not mention every single entry and just explain which ones they like, what they think is heading in an interesting direction, or simply not interested in.

3) From that point they will review new submissions after the initial review and give selective feedback at XX_HOW_OFTEN_XX interval.

4) They may see an entry they like and call the competition over, or they may choose to sit with a design they think may win for some time so they can live with it for a little while before confirming.

5) They may not see one entry they like at all and call the competition over, they may see several they like and open it up to the community to share their opinion and get a sense of consensus.

6) Once the logo winner is chosen, they do not directly get the bounty. If you look at the announce thread where the bounties are listed, you'll see that this bounty is for a logo and a brand styleguide

7) Once the winner is selected, I will work with the winner to produce the brand styleguide. Don't worry if you are not familiar with this process, I have gone through this process many times and can walk you through it and help you get it finished. (for the most part, it's dotting I's and crossing T's to make sure the original designer doesn't need to be involved every time the logo/brand is used)

8 ) Once the brand styleguide is completed, everything will be re-subbmited to keccak512 and nomisugi for confirmation. If accepted, the bounty will be released.

Final confirmation, the bounty for the person who is chosen and completes the styleguide with me is 30,000HVC (to be clear they get 30k HCV, it's not split with me).

Now there are two very important points I want to talk about with this:

This is a lot of new information/confirmation coming at you all very quickly

I know for some people the instinctive response will be that they are annoyed and want to express that.

I'm asking you, read this, take an hour, take two hours, and let it sink in.

However you feel after that, if you want to share your opinions, PM me, I'll read them.

The worst thing that could happen right now is that this whole thread is thrown in to chaos and becomes side tracked with conversation about this process and not about the task we are here for.

Please, take an hour or two. After that, here is what I would like you to do if you feel the following way:
- annoyed: PM me
- frustrated: PM me
- confused: PM me
- aroused: PM swraka

Last option is of course you think whatever you think, so post whatever you please (no flamming of course), I'm not trying to run everything, just trying to recognise that this could derail the thread and if you want to contact me to talk about it first - please, do it.

If I end up with a bunch of PM feedback, I'll either consolidate it here and try to reduce it down to a list of problems or concerns from everyone and let you know what I'm going to go back to the devs and mods with, or post an FAQ so everyone is working with the same information.

Timeframes for reviews

So we have mostly agreed to explicit details of how this competition will play out, but we have two big variables left that need to be addressed and shared with all of you (from the points above):

1) XX_FIRST_REVIEW_XX - when will the first review of all of the current logos be done and have some feedback provided

3) XX_HOW_OFTEN_XX - how often after that will the devs review submissions and provide some feedback

There are two forces at work against each other here and we need to handle them properly.

You all would naturally want feedback as soon as you can get it so you know where you stand in this competition, I want the devs to give us times but I want to give them the chance to look at their schedules and give me a time they can lock in for us.

Normally, the first thing that happens when you are asked for a time is you try to give a time that makes people as happy as you can. These usually fail because most of us have an impulse to give our most optimistic answer and not the most likely.

I've just gotten the above information so I am sharing it with you all asap, my next step is to talk to the guys and ask them to commit to a time, but also to give them a chance to actually look at their schedule and give me a time that's both realistic but also accounts for something in their plan blowing out.

We know that they have just released a coin and they are busy, but also our efforts here should be (and are) important to them. My next goal is to get a realistic commitment from the guys and then hassle the shit out of them if it stars slipping.

Just be aware that if there are signs that the agreed schedule starts to slip, we shouldn't immediately call 'fail'. If you notice before me that response times are failing, PM me. Then the whole process stops and I go back to the devs and tell them that they need to fix their shit. The idea of getting a time commitment here is that both sides respect how important the other's time is.

One last time - this is a lot of information to put to you all - please let it sink in and if you don't mind PM me your feedback so we can keep this all on topic, but the choice is yours.

Cheers,
M

edit: well, I say "edit" but what I mean is: there are typos, but I'm far too lazy to correct them...

Only just noticed this.

1) does this mean all previous entries are not up to scratch

2) is there a prize for winning this contest if that is what it is

Appreciate some feedback, may the best design be chosen.

Hey mymenace,

Just wanted to at least acknowledge that your message has been seen, I'll reach out to everyone and see if we can get you some clarity on this one.

ETA: NONE
There is no ETA, until the right logo is found the contest will continue.

@anonymousxx1503 - dude! glad you made it across to this thread. I love what you've done to the H shape - it almost looks like two "pi-ish" symbols, really interesting.

One thing I wanted to point out to you in the standout test on Poloniex - I know it's only a visual trick and not actually the case - do you see how it looks like the border is thinner on the left then on the right? Maybe lowering the contrast between the two sides might even it up? what do you think?

Yeah you're right, it's a visual trick caused by the way the shadow hits. At smaller resolutions I will fix this and even smaller I'll remove textures to keep it looking really clean. I'll show you an example later today if I can get some time.
