I wanted to publish it before moving to Malla, so here it is, my largest post on the HyperStake Development Journal. I expect it to bring even more enthusiasm toward HyperStake.

I have heard problems with PoS coins if you build with less than Boost 1.55, not sure if this would be related or not.
Boost 1.54 is buggy (at least with Monero, which is not PoS) and Boost 1.53 is fine.

Just wanted to note that if one does upgrade their Boost libraries (sudo apt-get install libboost1.55-all-dev), one will need to recompile their daemons/clients.

For QT creator, remember to first delete the executable in the build directory. The directory is usually something like: build-HyperStake-qt-linux-Desktop-Release/

If you try to run the executable compiled with an earlier version of Boost, it generally will not run.

Having some problems with HyperStaked on Debian randomly crashing; it's happened twice today for apparently no reason.

Nothing related to the crashes in the debug.log; any clues?

It runs well for me on ubuntu 14.04, it uses about 76mb of ram and 5-13% cpu. I have a few running stable for weeks without touching them.

You could always try turning off staking, as having multiple wallets with lots of different coin blocks will be a resource hog. Use the RPC call "-reservebalance true 99999999".

Helli it's qibucks from the trollllbox..I tried to download the exe wallet says not compatible with my pc, tried the normal zip wallet says cannot extract from archive, am ugly windows 8, any other options? Cry

"upgrade" to windows 7? Or a real upgrade to ubuntu?

I actually am running windows 8.1 on this laptop, but I don't have my HYP wallet on it. I can try it later and see if there's any issues from my end, but other than the (kind of) tongue in cheek response above, I got nothin'.

I think she got it to work now.

Take a lesson from this people: If you're going to be a smartass, double check your spelling Tongue Glad y'all are keeping me sharp, and I'm glad to be back.

Welcome back. I always enjoyed reading your inputs on here, before I started to become more vocal myself Smiley

I have a lot of small blocks. Some 1600 blocks are now starting to stake after something like 20 days. I'm using coin control to create blocks containing 3000 coins these days.
The interest doesn't change with the bigger blocks isn't it?

No, it doesn't change, BUT the block that you're hoping to stake is essentially trapped until it actually stakes - I mean, you don't want to loose 3-400 HYP just to make it into a larger block.
Really, anyone who's selling on exchanges should only really be selling the blocks which have freshly minted, otherwise, personally, I find the loss of interest after 24 hours or so too much to loose!

I always wait for the coins to stake. After that, when I have a lot of different blocks, I use coincontrol to put the coins together in new blocks.
I don't like loosing stake either  Grin

I love loosing stake. The more stakes I loose, the richer I become. Given where I'm starting from, I have little to lose, and I'll loose as many as I can.

Loose: Ill fitting; to unleash or release; opposite of tight.
Lose: To be second place or less in a contest, to misplace, to no longer possess involuntarily.

Puntuation saves lives.

You mean Punctuation? LOL

That was the first thing I noticed also, especially as I'd just had my spelling of lose jested at!
I deleted my comment pointing it out though, I felt a bit childish in a way!

On another note, another block of mine that was in the 4000 range matured recently, and was happily inside the 1000 limit.
I'm going to structure as many blocks as i can to this size where possible.

Apparently not. I misspelled punctuation Tongue

Things went a bit south, but we survived. We didn't wind up where we were aiming for, though. We're in Franklin, PA. Which is a hell of a lot nicer than most of PA, but still...

I don't have regular internet yet. Just got the apartment yesterday, but I'm back. More or less.

XMR/HYP market is already number 2 in volume on Poloniex. I expected the combination of two great coins to reflect positively, but I did not hope it would go that fast! Of course, two days is not enough to judge, but this is telling, still.

This further helps XMR getting decoupled from BTC also. Stone=1; Birds=many.

Update: the volume is also because of a typing mistake, so it is even less representative for the moment. Wait and see.

We are the first to program your future (c)
we will have to define terms a little better for me to plug in real numbers

Compounding formulae:

block*((1+(7.5/365*interval))^(365/interval))

Where block is an initial block size in HYP (if we make a calculation just for 1 block for clarity, e.g. 3000 HYP; you can insert here your whole amount of HYP), interval is an estimated number of days for your blocks to stake, e.g. 10 days.

Interval period
so a block can stake in 9 days (8.8?)  If a block stakes in 9 days, what % of interest does it gain?

(7.5/365*interval)

This part of the equation gives you an interest (in the form of a multiplier) acquired after some staking interval, which can be no less than 8.8 days. So an interest for 9 days old block can be calculated like this:

7.5/365*9*100 or simply 750/365*9, which gives us 18.49%.

An interest for one day is 750/365 = 2.05%.

I have a block that is about at 9 days, it looks like its about 20% potential stake.  If a block doesn't stake right when it hits maturity (that the right word?) it gains weight (likelihood of staking increases), and continues to gain interest - at the same interest rate produced in the initial ~9days or maturing (right word again?) ?

Everything is correct. Every consequent day will add 2.05%, until the block age will hit 30 days.

What is the maximum number of hyperstake coins?

There is no hard cap.

Yep with peercoin clones, the max coin is actually a miscode that ultimately turns into "max transaction amount".  So no max!  But remember that we will ultimately be limited to 960k HYP added per day in the long run, which becomes less and less compared to the total money supply over time.

BX.in.th now has HyperStake

We've added a HyperStake market at https://bx.in.th/BTC/HYP/

Appreciate if you could add us to the list of exchanges in the OP.
