#2, the highest weight will not automatically be the next to stake. It is statistically the most likely, but since hashing is involved (and a nonce), this makes it a bit more random then that. Or else small blocks would never stake. But as a rule of thumb, the bigger the weight, the quicker the stake.
Updated, thanks.

Thanks david, i did make a few small changes to the wiki, but plan on adding more to it. As should everyone else. It will really be a good place to point newcomers to.

> I wait 8 - 10 days for it to mature, then I can start staking right?

You do not wait 8-10 days. You wait 8.8 days before entering the "reward competition".
See it that way :
1. There is a 8.8 days "cool-off" period.
2. Then your block start accumulating weight and once it gets more weight than any other in the world (this is examined once every 90 seconds), you'll get a reward
3. Then the block will be divided in two blocks of (original amount+reward)/2, which be stripped of their accumulated weight and coin age
Back to 1 and start again (coo-of, staking, reward, split-and-reset, cool-off)

Update: added to What is PoS?

New Wallet feature (I can repost on Crytocointalk.com)

(Granted this is more of a gimmick than anything, but you want something to bring you press and attention)

(also, Billiotronic got this thought started)

So you have Stake for Charity, S4C, up and running.  What about Stake for Steak - S4S.

Your stake accumulates in an account that when it reaches a threshold, it purchases a Gyft card to OmahaSteaks.com.

I know Gyft doesn't accept HYP (yet), but there could be some backend BTC conversion that happens to make it work.

Funny thought, but ...
I see it as an example use for HyperSend.

Yes, that would work, seems to fit.  I just think stake for steak has a great promotional route.  (Hypersend through me a little, as the name sounded like SuperSend - SuperCoin's anon send)
Updated the wiki, now with a nice slogan:
"HyperStake: there is such a thing as a free lunch."

Someone asked me how to split block. Here's the tuto I wrote. What do you think of it (I wanted it without any pictures)

1. Decide for a target block size. 2000 is a safe bet.
2. Click on the "receive" icon and copy your own address.
3. Click the "send" icon.
4. Then "Coin control".
5. You'll see one or several lines, each line is a block. Sort by increasing age to be sure to waste a few coinage as possible.
6. Check enough blocks to have 2000. Click OK.
7. You're back on the "Send coin" window. Paste your address (step 2), then move to "Amount" and enter the value you decided at step 1.
8. Click Send and confirm any window.
9. Start again at step 3.

Update: as a reminder, we have an OTC thread, an order just arrived.

Today we broke some records on Poloniex
  • Price went up twice, up to almost 2900 satoshi
  • 24 hours volume is 9.746 BTC, soon entering the famous "square zone" (at 10 BTC+, coin has a green frame around its ticker)
  • I registered up to 88 account on the IRC (##hyperstake)
  • We have 201 Twitter followers
Now, of course, we should not focus on price, but I have to say this is pretty nice for a fun experiment Smiley

David this is the first time you are talking about prices Smiley

i have seen this in the sky today !

edit : Difficulty: 1.2 !!! another record ?

Staking info that hovers over the minting icon in the bottom right corner of the wallet refreshes only when you restart the wallet, so please use coin control to get the weight.

If you build your own, there is a fix for this at https://github.com/moneromooo/HyperStake/commit/e34fe0798306ad8aac6ef53e849377d15788cbe9

Yes this is something that only affects certain clients/os's. Moneromooo has made the solution for affected clients, and this will be included in the coming wallet release.

Haha sorry, I just realised, I thought Hype was only on allcoin , can finally pick some up now Smiley
