Like the title says, i almost lost my regular job as a software developer today when my boss reviewed my work. The job has been able to economically provide a comfortable life for me and losing it would really be a big hit to my income. I almost lost it because i spent so much time learning about everything crypto (mining, trading, bounties, etc.).

Has anyone else experienced this? I just feel pretty lucky I was given another chance and want to remind other people that having a regular job is much better than relying on the volatility of cryptocurrencies. Make sure you prioritize your work!

People already knows that prioritizing the work first. It's just that you are lacking of something.

It does mean that you didn't handle your time and properly managed it well. There are persons who have a decent job but can managed well their time doing crypto activity at the same time. You don't need to spend 24 hours 7 days a week just to managed your crypto activities unless you do day trades which I think not a good idea since you have day job.

You can't just say to people here that regular job is way more better than crypto activities because of your inability to handled them both. Both are important and many are living proof to that.

I agree with you, I just want to add that real work is more important because it is obviously the result. do not focus too much on crypto and do not let you leave your real job. I'm not here to ban you but I'm just suggesting you share your time. remember crypto is erratic, sometimes expensive sometimes down. so earning income for everyday life if relying on crypto will not be a definite result.

If you don't want to lose your job much better that you fix your job first before you give a time to crypto. Crypto is always there and anytime you can study it but your real job is limited hours so much better to focus on it before crypto.

I also have a daily job while joining in bounties and sometimes I do trade if I have spare time but usually my holdings were for long period goal. So far I dont get any problem in my real job since I can perform my duty well and I think this can only be possible if you can manage your time properly and you know what to prioritize first. Sometimes we forgot what's more important just because we experienced earning huge profit in cryptos but we should keep in mind that not all the time we can make money especially when the market is declining. If you want to have a stable income and its hard for you to do both then better to stick to your real job.

Well, now as you know so much about crypto you should just try to find a job in that sphere. I bet it's not so difficult for a software developer. Moreover, salaries in crypto are above average so you can even benefit financially.

To be fair, you almost lost your job because of not doing your job.

No judgment here, we all do it.

That is not a good thing to know mate. Its always dangerous to loose your real world job because crypto currencies are like thin air! Its there today and it may not be available there tomorrow! So just watch out the stuff. For the IT giants they always track he employee history in the digital world so its better to watch out what you are surfing in the desktop and what not. That would be risky to repeat again I believe.

Crypto isn't a job. In the end, the purpose of Bitcoin is to be an alternative means of payment and not investment instruments.
It is a good lesson for you and an alert for other people.
Personally, I have set the time between this forum"crypto world" and my personal life.
I do not deny some bad influence on my life "Reduce time with my family, watch out for long hours, spend more time learning to encrypt"more than normal time, and become fat" I stopped visiting GYM."

For me it's better to have a regular job than focusing in crypto that's my opinion, I'm not sure about crypto, in work I'm sure that at the end of the month I have a certain amount. I'm happy to have my work and at the same time I'm in crypto to earn some extra money.

I am doing both the things since very long time but I never got caught. The reason is simple I dont have time for the crypto at my workplace and neither I have access to devices in the premises. I am pharmaceutical research scientist and most of the time im researching stuff regarding the new formulations etc. We are not allowed to take in the devices so there is no way to access the crypto over there.

So its just home where I access it and that way nothing comes in between my job and crypto. Both the worlds are different for me and I will keep them that way only.

and want to remind other people that having a regular job is much better than relying on the volatility of cryptocurrencies. Make sure you prioritize your work!

so you think bitcoin can not create self employment?

Binance
bitfinex
Bitpay
Bittrex
Bitmain
coinbase
bitgo
Kraken
Genesis Mining
xapo

These companies were created thanks to bitcoin, the owners of these companies believed in the potential of bitcoin and they created company and jobs. One of the big problems we have is to look at bitcoin as extra income, if you already think that bitcoin is extra income, how some government will give value to bitcoin? we have to see the potential that bitcoin has and stop looking at bitcoin as extra income and that our jobs are much more important. Do you have a job? very good for you, do not leave your job. but do not think that your job is more important, think that both your job and bitcoin are important

This is the reason on why I heavily disagree with people who leave their jobs in order to pursue cryptocurrency bounties, trading, or mining. Pursuing to that kind of job inflicts this double-edged sword experience as what you receive on income may be unreliable compared to those who work at a certain company.
Having to work on a company may provide you the security in receiving income as they pay you monthly (depending on the company). But what you yield from mining, trading, etc. may be relatively larger but the pay is unreliable.

About your last statement, each experience is unique per individual. One might argue that they earned larger profits from focusing into cryptocurrency alone while others might have the opposite effect. It was in your experience that you actually learned that keeping your job is more reliable than focusing into cryptocurrency.

i think this is just a matter of setting the time. permanent work is my hobby, as well as cryptocurrency. if i run them both in tandem, so it can run smoothly without one work being defeated

If you can focus into two worlds at the same time, then why not? Many traders that I know treat their cryptocurrency work as a method of earning alternative income while maintaining their current work/job. In this way, you are maximizing your earnings while having security in receiving monthly income from your work.

You really are not the only one involved that have witnessed this. I realize that for those of us having a full time job, we might not be as multi-tasking as we make ourselves to believe that we are because there is no way there wont be an effect on one part of our job. For me, what I have learned to do is to prioritize. I am active more on the forum and things that relate to crypto anytime that we are off peak period, more after the official closing hours and before the official opening hours.

Another way to manage things is to focus on one aspect. Unlike your case where you want to be active on every facets, you would spend more time which would then affect your day job but rather than doing that, pick one whether its trading or mining or bounties not everything at once that you want to be the best at and this is what I have also learnt. For those that have enough time on their hands, they can focus on every aspects without one affecting the other.

You aren't lucky, being a regular working makes you have a security of tenure, one bad review is not enough to fire a regular employee. But treat this something like a wake up call that you need to balance out work and the cryptocurrency market. I am still a student but I haven't forgotten my school work while I am constantly monitoring my holdings. My advice for you is to have a time management plan and make it your own personal routine. You will personally notice that you are improving in both.

i can personally relate to this feeling, like you are just too busy for doing some crypto research and all other stuffs related to this things and you often forget you still have work to do. it is good to hear you didn't ditch your work and focus on crypto, well we can't really say trading and other stuffs related to crypto isn't considered as work, but having a stable job is quiet good for your daily expenses rather than depending to uncertain income, which is in my own opinion not my forte.

Sometimes at work, it very tempting to do research about crypto and to satisfy our cravings to learn about crypto. However, we know for a fact that we have also deliverables at work because we are paid for it. So what I usually do is I make my daily deliverables and once I have finished everything then I can do some readings about crypto. Making my "to do list" is one way to keep me focus in my regular job. During break time, I can do a bit in crypto then after work.
