Safe&easy multi-blockchain wallet from Bither Team
Hi dear user,
First of all, sorry for being late.  Because our team members are in China, and you know the GFW, we does not check bitcointalk forum often. You don't need to worry about asset security.
It's suggested to use android version of Bither rather than desktop version, since the desktop version update is lagging behind the android one. We just released a new version v1.8.6, and it was tuned for the performance of importing private keys and reload transaction data.

Important tip: the Bitpie Wallet (bitpie.com) is a multi-chain wallet developed by us following bither, which is easier to use,  so we strongly recommend you to try Bitpie instead of Bither.

If you still can't solve your problem. Antony Blackman is availble for talking to you on telegram. Feel free to reach out to us on telegram official group: https://t.me/BitpieInternational. You can provide more details(like screenshots) to him on telegram about your problem in order for him to assist you to solve your problem..

@ben19850 see post #14 above and this guide as well. When you are asked to select the derivation path try m/44'/0'/0' first.

If you're entire balance does not appear you will have to repeat the restoration in additional wallet files for each HD account. To do that see first step of the guide I linked to above to learn how to create additional wallet files. When asked for a derivation path change that last number to restore a different HD account. For example m/44'/0'/1' = second HD account, m/44'/0'/2' = third HD acccount etc.

Note the single quotes in the derivation path are required and are not optional.

No, he isn't... he is saying "use a dedicated software wallet run on your local PC (Electrum), and use your seed mnemonic from Bither to restore the wallet."

That is VASTLY different to "copy/paste your seed mnemonic into a website, then copy/paste your derived private key(s) from there into a web wallet" Roll Eyes

can i ask why? did you even try this method. create a fresh new wallet without funds so you can see it works.
i also did it this way and it worked fine.
It isn't so much that the method doesn't work... it just isn't the "safe" way to do what the OP is trying to do.

- Pasting your seed into a website is just a "bad idea"™
- Importing keys into a web wallet like b.com (not quite as catchy as b.info) aka blockchain.com isn't a great idea either.

You're potentially exposing your seed and/or private keys and this could lead to loss of coins and aside from webwallets just being a bad idea in general, blockchain.com is known for being buggy and a fairly terrible web wallet.

I agree with Abdussamad, the OP is better off attempting to import the seed into Electrum... making sure that they:

1. Get a legit copy from: http://electrum.org/#download
2. Set "Options -> BIP39 seed" when importing

agree but Abdussamad is litterly saying the same as what i did...

I strongly advise against doing what jasux is saying above.

@NG6669 try restoring via electrum again this time making sure that you put spaces between words instead of hyphens. Also near the options button it should tell you "bip 39 checksum ok" once you've entered the seed correctly.

If you still can't manage to restore it in electrum tell us what the first character in your bither addresses is? 1 or 3?

Hi mate,

I got the fix. it took me lot of time but i knew it shoud be possible to fix your problem.
ok here are the steps.

1. go to bither export and get your HD account seed Phrase. here you will find something like pitch-head-spawn-broccoli-indoor-wide-soda-mistake-slot-kitchen-rhythm-cruise
2. copy this phrase.
3. go to https://iancoleman.io/bip39/? here pase the seed phrase in BIP39 Mnemonic without "-" so it would look like "pitch head spawn broccoli indoor wide soda mistake slot kitchen rhythm cruise"
4. go back to bither and copy your addres in the left upper
5. go back to the website and press "CTRL F" and paste your public address here.
6. you will find your adress public key and private key
7. copy your private key.
8. register on https://www.blockchain.com
9. create an account their. and once your are logged in go to setttings > addresses
10. click "import adress" and BOOM your coins are back

plz let me know if it worked and feel free to contact me.

regards,

jasux

I've done this process, still with no luck. Sad
Electrum creates a new, different address from my seed phrase. I don't understand how it works for you and not me.
I don't know either Tongue

Quote
However, this address is recreated each time I attempt to restore my wallet, therefore electrum is effectively repeatedly restoring a the same new address from my original seed?
That is the intended behaviour: a seed is used to create the exact same address(es).

Quote
I've followed/use the illustrated derivation path and double checked the seed phrase I am entering is the one that comes up when I wish to export the seed phrase for my Bither HD account.
Is there any chance you set a different path in Bither? You should be able to find the answer somewhere in the software you have already (don't delete it!).

Does my HD account have a private key? How do I access it?
Exporting the seed is how you access the private key.

Did you do the following?

I have to click Options > BIP39 seed

And did you also enter the derivation path correctly (m/44'/0'/0') (note the single quotation mark) ?

Does my HD account have a private key? How do I access it?

Your HD account can create an (almost) infinite number of private keys.
You just need to know which derivation path + index you need to use to create the private key you are looking for.
The first index is 0 and will then be increased for each private key. So the only thing you need to know is the correct derivation path.

With my account I have the seed phrase but not the private key. My goal is to export the funds from this account, to another wallet which shows they are there. When entered my seed phrase on Electrum i thought it was would bring up my original HD account, as it would do if you entered the private key. This wasn't the case. Do you know any way in which I can export the funds from my Bither HD account using the seed phrase? Or how I can access the private key for this HD account using the known seed phrase?
I've just created a new HD account on my phone. I didn't expect it would ask me to write down another seed phrase, as I already had one on that wallet.

To use Enter Seed in Electrum, I have to click Options > BIP39 seed.
Default derivation: m/44'/0'/0'
This instantly gives me the same address I got from Bither.

From my Bither HD account, I can click HD Account Seed Phrase again, and it gives the seed phrase I've imported in Electrum.

If you can export your seed from your HD-account in Bither, you should be able to import it into Electrum just like I did.

With my account I have the seed phrase but not the private key.

The good thing here is, that you can derive the private key from the seed.
Your seed will generate the same private keys in a new wallet it has generated in your old one.

When entered my seed phrase on Electrum i thought it was would bring up my original HD account, as it would do if you entered the private key.

It will.
Electrum probably derived the private keys with a different derivation path.
Each seed can be derived using different paths.

LoyceV has explained how to access your funds using the correct parameter.

This is my main problem. As the address I sent my bitcoins to is an "HD account" (I did that unknowingly) I cannot find a private key on my desktop anywhere. I also cannot seem to input my seed phrase to generate a private key on any application. On Bither I can easily find private keys for my other "hot wallets" which are available, but not the HD account which I sent these funds to.
I'm confused Tongue Usually, a "HD account" means the private key is derived from the seed phrase, which is a good thing.
I would expect all your addresses to be derived from the seed phrase, so I'm not sure what Bittrex means with a "hot wallet". Unless you imported them or something.
I've only used Bither to import, never used their own generated keys, so I can't really talk from experience.

Do you know if there is any other way around that using electrum? Or do you think it is just not compatible?
Can't you try to export the private key again? On my Android Bither, I can just click an address, it gives me Detail. Then click the three dots "..." on the right-top, it shows Private Key Management. Then, Private Key Text shows me my private key.

So I have looked at Electrum and have managed to add my HD account but it is on watch only as all I did was enter the address. However it does show the funds are available.
Importing the address doesn't help you, anybody can do that.

Quote
I went on to click open new/ restore, selected standard wallet, then indicated that I had already got a seed. I added the seed phrase from my old account and eventually my wallet was added to electrum, however this wallet has got a different bitcoin address and does not show my funds.
My guess is you need to change the Derivation Path, but I can't find which exact path Bither uses.

I assume you already have a backup of your "HD account seed phrase". If not, you should back it up now.

I'm not sure if the seed phrase is compatible with Electrum (as Bither supports more than just Bitcoin), but you can try it. If it works, you're good to go. Bither uses 12 words too, so chances are it just works out of the box.

If that doesn't work, you can enter your seed phrase into Mnemonic Code Converter, but before you do, make sure you take the necessary security precautions (short version: do it offline running from a LIVE Linux CD, and don't go online again before wiping it from memory).

Both the developer and CEO of the company haven't been active on Twitter since 2015 and I cannot download the Bither app from the US or UK app store.
I've used the app on Android (NL) not so long ago, and had no problem downloading it.

From what you're saying, this all seems fixable.
