Everything about this high has fee is just bringing discouragements to use the Ethereum platform, because it doesn't really makes sense paying higher for fees, the funny part is that, there are even times that the gas fees will be so high that it will surpass the total worth of the token you are trying to send to an exchange. It just keeps getting higher and even when you wait for it to reduce it will still be high to some extent.
Well, currently, there is nothing that can be done about it, if you try to customise the gas fee, you will either be faced with a pending transaction or a failed transaction as a result of "out of gas" situation, while ending up losing the gas fee as well. My opinion is, wait for it to drop down a bit.

when I looked at the gas content in my ERC 20 wallet it was not enough to send the alt I had to the exchange, because the gas fee were very high.
do you have a cheaper way to send tokens ??

Gas prices on Ethereum are hard to predict; they can be as cheap as 1 gwei or less at off-peak hours, while some transactions pay into the hundreds of gwei to buy into that juicy ICO or hit an order on EtherDelta before any other players. Users who need to be mined quickly or first often engage in fierce bidding wars, bidding wars in which using GasToken provides an enormous advantage by letting you perform the same transactions while spending less gas.

Try to browse the topic below.
And follow the instructions there, hopefully it can help you to reduce ERC 20 gas.

This morning Ethereum gas fees were below 90 gwei. Seems a good price, as earlier that week I’ve seen 250+ gwei for a normal speed transaction. I think “below 100 gwei” has become todays normal. I think we wont see below 80 gwei price in nearest future. So just get used to.

you should consider as a sort of "monetary privilege" be able to broadcast a transaction in blockchain. it means also that are you trying to exchange a very low volume in terms of value so no interesting at all to give a quick lane... as told, right now you can just wait fees will decrease.
but you are assuming double risk. fees will not decrease, your operation will not be profitable anymore!

there is no other way to make gas fees from Ethereum become low, because for now gas fees from Ethereum are very high and all you have to do is wait until gas fees from Ethereum become cheap, although we don't know when it will happen or maybe even gas fees from Ethereum could be more expensive than now.

The only way for you to wait for the gas price to decrease, there's no other way to send your alt when you didn't have enough gas. It's blockchain.
You can do nothing about that if you are not willing to send more gas to your wallet. I think that's the point.
