I have been sitting on a good idea for a few years now and would like to share the idea for comments but I'm worried that someone will do it themselves. Is there any way of protecting the idea?
Patent idea if you think it's something amazing. But if you don't know much about crypto currencies, how do you have great idea? Well, if you find something new, if I were you, I would learn much about crypto in a very short time to release idea as soon as possible. Bitcoin wiki is great way to know technical sides of bitcoin, this forum is about bitcoin and search threads also.
Well, if you are still looking for serious people, then patent idea.

Ideas are fantastic, but without action it'll never be much.

Best way to get started is to write down your concept.
Build a framework for what you want to achieve.
Discuss it with those close to you, let them criticize it, use the feedback to validate your business plan.

I recommend you look into 'lean startup methodology' just for the initial planning framework it offers.
It really forces you to build a straw man, test it and see how it holds up to real world criticism.

If you pass this stage, then you can start by building a minimum viable product and  looking for external backers.

It's how I've built every business I've ever owned.

Just my opinion.

No there isn't really. If you share it on a public forum there's always the chance that someone who is more skilled than you will take the idea and realize the project. But that only implies if it's really good. I would suggest to just start learning the skills needed or hire someone for you to do so.

Good idea for few years but still no action? I think someone will get the same idea as you have soon and they will make a move and you'll regret your action it as long as you live

Unfortunately just an idea is not bringing a profit to anyone and it doesen't have a price by itself. It is hard to find an ides that never came to anyones mind and i think that you can share it with everyone without any doubts.

Yea, agree, ideas have no value by itself, but idea+action = some result  Smiley

Guy you did not show any clue about your idea. It may be away some or a child's dream. First you give some clue about your idea than it may be disclosed how much work had been done in this field. If you have at least bachelor degree in this field of your idea, certainly it may be away some.

Why not just give us the gist of what your idea is? That way we can tell you if it's already been done. It's a big world so sometimes what seems like an amazing original idea ends up being an idea someone else had a while ago and it doesn't pan out.

People really do tend to overestimate how good their ideas are. Its better to start by telling everyone what your idea is and let them tell you why its not a good idea.

There's a 90% chance that your idea is already considered no good by someone else, or if it was really good, it will still fail.

I have an idea to disrupt the way society has organized and structured around central power for thousands of years.

After reading this half mocking post, you give the impression that you have realized that your secret idea isnt as good as you first thought it was. Thats good because you will move on into thinking about other ideas which may be more viable.

Ideas are fair game no matter how dear they are to your heart.

You can go about this in two ways. You can increase your knowledge of crypto and execute it yourself, you can find someone who already has what it takes and ask them privately.

Throwing it out in public isn't going to do your idea any favours if it's that unique.

I admit, that's a pretty big idea.  It's going to take a lot of work, and a reasonably long time frame.  So I'm breaking it up into manageable chunks.  Lots of them.  Fortunately, there are many others also working on some of these chunks -- better than I could in some cases -- so, I can focus on other areas that need attention and integrate those in later.

But for now, I sleep.  Tomorrow is Friday, after all.

Your idea is worth nothing if you don't have the right people behind you to implement it. Either put up $ and hire someone to make your idea a reality, or figure out your value ON TOP of just providing an idea, then find a tech (or a few) to join you.

yeah, this is true and as the saying said " action speaks louder than words " in other words your idea is usless no matter how good or bright it was as long as you put an effort or work on it. dont be afraid to try and try because youl never know that you will succed if you dont. so gudluck and i hope your starting to pull off a good team to start your promising project.

Knowledge is nothing unless it is shared. So find someone to finance your idea or finance it yourself. However there is risk that they will steal your idea.
If it turns out good and you can find someone you can trust ,also will finance your idea. Maybe you will become the next Bill Gates of microsoft or Jack Ma of alibaba.  Smiley

It is a funny thing that you have been sitting on the idea for years and still there is no implementation? If you can get copyright in someway, you may can protect your product, but it may be impossible to protect the idea as anything in this world have similar copies. There is no 2 bitcoin, there is no 2 ethereum, but people could create similar crypto but not plagiarized all the codes.

What did you do on that few years and didn't gained any idea about cryptocurrencies?

If the proposal and idea is unique based on your own view then no matter how you shared it, still the good and better version will be on you. Trust your judgement and try to challenge the world than being worried.
