The only good thing about Apple computers is the gold I chemically refine from their useless corpses.

The Apple II was actually the best thing that company ever did (mostly because of the "other" Steve) and the fact that you could buy cheap "clones" from Asia.

Back then they had a "huge" community (I actually wrote a letter to Bill Budge when I was a teenager and received a response that included a bunch of 6502 assembly code that I used in some of my first projects - no mention of copyright from Bill who at that time was "the master" of writing PC games).

After that time they abandoned the "hacker" idea (you couldn't even program a Mac without forking out huge bucks for MPW) and out-priced themselves from the market (which had already moved to IBM PCs).

After the Mac came out I moved on to PC clones (as did many of my generation who had grown up with an Apple II or clone) and never looked back.

Steve Wozniak didn't care for patents and lawyers - he cared for hacking - something which Apple hasn't cared for since the 1970's.

Most serious bitcoin folks already run android phones. Dumping your mac for a PC is just stupid. Macs are still the best build PC's.

Also if you had an iPhone and you were a bitcoin user you already had the blockchain app so you were good to go. Apple ain't gonna come and take that one away.

Apple will probably let these apps come back later this year when bitcoin goes main stream. Just like they did with most of the good apps.

Breaking your iPhone is just plain stupid. You sell it for a profit and buy a droid.

But hey you can do what you want!

In 2014 Apple proves me right once again. Bans every thing Bitcoin.

Well that's not strictly true. There's a lot of Bitcoin related apps, but they seem to have got rid of everything to do with sending and receiving coins. I won't be going back to Apple after my battered iPhone 3 dies though that's for sure.

So what your saying is we need to get Google to Add this feature to the Gmail app(if there is one). I bet they wont pick a fight with them.

I'm not saying that. Why is google the only option?

Im being a smart ass. But any app that has a large enough user base might cause them to re think this bs.

Money is the only language Apple will listen to so people just need to start dumping their devices.. I don't think the blockchain app or Bitcoin users are big enough to hurt Apple currently, but Apple seem to be pissing a lot more people off day by day.

I've always bought the less expensive alternatives, from motorola droid phones to android tablets to sandisk MP3 players with a 64GB microSD card. Everything from apple is 3x the price for the same or even less functionality in some cases (how much does a small 64GB ipod cost?)

Their draconian software including and especially itunes made me want to pull my hair out the brief time I used it. Proprietary cables that change all the time... a closed minded, quazi-hipster elitist attitude with profit margins higher than wal-marts yet they still get tons of praise. I'll take google as a company over Apple.  Not saying they don't put out a good product though just their business practices tend to get ignored when they are just like wal-mart's.

Apple's pretty cocky thinking they can trash the bitcoin crowd and nobody will notice too.

I agree that Apple sucks, has quality issues, is draconian regarding the app approval process, isn't deeply customizable, and probably gives a nod to mass surveillance. But OSX is more logical and is superior to Microsoft Windows from a design stance. The interface of Microsoft Windows operates as a restaurant menu and ordering system, with notably inefficient multitasking function. In my view the design of Windows is based more heavily on convention and dependency on current path. OSX has a mostly consistent system organization similar to BSD, and the shell is a lot more handy than the Windows command interface. They research human-computer interaction and they consider the consistency and modularity of common functions across applications. Multitasking in Windows focuses heavily on the mouse in a way that creates pauses while switching between mouse and keyboard or home row and arrows, and fixates on the Start bar. OSX multitasking is more powerful, and is functionally complete without the use of a mouse (unless you are running flash).

yup apple philosophy is quite the opposite of bitcoins - opennes and decentralisation

heck they took the free and open source freebsd, configured a bit and make it paid and closed source OSX...

Same here...never used ITunes and I've disliked Apple for about 20 years too. I did have Mac Classic and Mac II and those were nice computers for their time, but that's the last apple product that I bought or even really used.

But their advertising is obnoxious and geared to the stupid and their products are overpriced, so haven't used anything of theirs in 20 years and don't plan to again.

Apple owns your hard drive. I'd distinguish between between Apple and iTunes, that's just evil.
