I've mostly been doing the same other than a couple of coins I hold long term. Not been going to well this year though lol but hopefully that changes soon.
I would recommend going for one of the strong coins that already exists instead of taking a big risk on an ICO. Many ICO tokens sell cheaper after the main sale once they hit the exchanges.
I think that if you are a beginner, then you should not rush to invest your money, so this is a big risk. ICO is also a risky choice, I would advise you to start your way with bounty campaigns, this will allow you to understand the projects!
I am not opposed to investing in ICO.

I also ivested in ICOs because this is the safest and most reliable way to get money, not always without risks but what to do if risks and scams are everywhere and icos aren't exception. the digital system has more safety and pros compared to others
As much as it's nice to invest in ICOs, lots of them are scams and only after for the $$$. I highly suggest you study the following before considering to invest:
1. Team - See the credibility of the team by visiting their website and checking out the team section and their linkedin/twitter accounts.
2. Whitepaper - Take time to read their whitepaper and understand what makes their project feasible, not just unique (many unique and untried projects are difficult to implement).
3. Community - Do visit the ICO's telegram and other social media account to see how the community responds to the project.
4. Online activities - Having a lot of online activities like blogs and articles, social media posts, videos, etc. is sign of an active and healthy ICO.
There are other factors for sure but these are the 4 major things to consider for me. Good luck in your journey!

This year's investment in ICO is not justified. A lot of scams , a lot of projects after IPO are several times lower than ICO. I wouldn't invest in ICO because it is not profitable. In my opinion it is better to buy the tokens you are interested in the project on the stock exchange .

i think investing in top altcoin is much better than investing in ICO. Be careful you can be scammed , but you just have to track about everything in the ICO , There is a chance to run into a fraudulent project which is about 90%. But if you spend a lot of time analyzing projects, why not.
wanna pick a good icos do make research about what their product will be offer and what used their product will be. im very strict at the team and who their advisor are cause it will show clear who they are.
In ICO, you need to study the technical document and the team involved in the project. This will allow you to make the right decision. Remember that you are investing an amount that you can lose.
In my opinion, if you want to invest in ICO, you should be able to learn more detail white paper every ICO before you buy their coins. If you do not learn in more detail the fear you will lose.

While it is good to ask advice here . It is also important for you to do your own research about the ico project that you are planning to invest because investjng your money especially in cryptocurrency is very risky. Do a thorough research especially with the team of that ico qnd the white paper.
i have not experienced in ico project but if i see before you join ico project you can see how good the project sales. if the project reaches haedcap then the tokens that are sold will be more expensive once there in the market.
