In the middle of downtrend almost a year i think you're one  from most people who dare to sold your asset to buying bitcoin and i think you're right that the best time to buy is the current price but investing in bitcoin is more risky than stocks and if the price more dip than now someday i hope you will never regret your decission

I think you are currently lucky because you can buy bitcoin at a very cheap price so you should be able to grow bitcoin that you have more and take advantage of all the cryptocurrency price movements to find a lot of profits.

I jus dump half my investment from stocks into btc. Now I'm fully invested in bitcoin. Before I had invested in bch and it dumped. While I converted to fiat. Long story but I'm still alive after the ath 19k n buying the dip. I thought it was going to 4k. But i guess its a good time to buy now. Best of luck.

I think its time for buying more bitcoin. Bitcoin price already drop more than 60% from ATH and i am believe the price will recover soon or later. Better make long term investment on bitcoin because bitcoin have biggest liquidity in market and more people will invest in bitcoin
Well, half investment from stocks to bitcoin is not a bad deal; at least, as that shows you are trying to touch all zones of the market. Now, it is a good thing that the OP understands the market could go lower, and he is still willing to take the chance anyway, but I would have advised him to allow the market to really make a decision before even making such a huge decision.

At least, since he has been in the stock market, he should have some little understanding of how market works, and knowing we are in a descending triangle, and the market breaks lower, we may not be sure yet how low it gets until we get there.

I also hope that October will bring us good luck, because I also convert most of my property (Altcoin and USDT) into Bitcoin like you!
I think situations of previous year were worse than the ongoing year that is reflecting that we are going well. If we have Bitcoins then the relevant strategy is to hold it as long as you hold it then you a time will come when it will have higher value that time you can sell out your coins. Your investment will payoff the most if you have it right now and if not then you will not find any other opportunity that we have currently.

Due to unpredictable market and long dips, definitely people are still holding btc for they think that it will grow more in the last quarter of this year. But for those you are buying btc during last year ATH,  it surely they are still in troubled and only few of them are btc holder, they possible converted it into fiat money or altcoins.

Just be careful, because even if I think that you did a good investment by moving from stocks to bitcoin because the profits that you are going to get if you are able to hold for the long term are incredible, so you will need to make sure that your coins are safe, and there is no better way to hold your coins than to have a hardware wallet that you know is going to protect your coins from most attacks coming from hackers.

The question here isn't how much you bought, but when did you get in. You haven't really mentioned when you sold off your stocks, but if you can see, stocks are also not left behind when it comes to dumps and they're also crashing except the USD which is gaining a lot of traction in forex markets degrading each of its opponent currencies. The only reason Bitcoin is down is the interest of investors has shifted back to USD and they're not much interested in crypto anymore. Bitcoin is weak and we need to wait in order to see if these investors come back with full force to give back the boost crypto had in previous year. If you've bought during this dip, I believe your decision is 50% wise and 50% stupid, wise because you entered where there's blood on the streets and stupid because you went all in. I have a suggestion here, either sell some % of your current investment or buy in any token (with some BTC) of which the project is worth investing.

For all those who bought bitcoin during the dip at 5,000$, i know they already have good profit as bitcoin reaches to more than 6,000$ since then. Holding on and buying more during the dip is what we really need in order to have a good profit when bitcoin pumps.

Many had invest this year because of the high possibility price of bitcoin can increase. And the price has not yet increasing into peak price this past months so it is still good to buy btc. Many thought price of btc could go low $4k but aside from that why not invest in this level of price so good to invest still.

I agree that it's still a great time to buy, the bear market can be change any time now, usually at the end of the year there will be a rising, and even though the btc price go to 4000$, as long as it still got the ability to go up again, I don't see that as a problem

You have really made a good investment decision and buying bitcoin now should be the best thing to do now as an investor. The price may not go below were it is now and if you can buy now you will makes profits when it grow again. I believe that bitcoin is going to get to $20000 again by next year.

This is the smartest move anyone has ever done that I was part of seeing. I think buying as much as you can "afford" (people keep getting loans and stuff to buy bitcoin, that is stupid, this dude bought bitcoin with half of his stock investments which means he already saved that money aside anyway) bitcoin right now at the dip is an amazing move.

If I had money I would put half of it to bitcoin as well. People who bought bitcoin at $20k levels were buying on the hype when it was ABOVE the all time high prices, whereas this dude has bought it at the lowest it has been for over 10 months now, incredible wise move.

This is indeed the best time to buy at low prices and make your portfolio diverse. BCH was a manipulated coin which was profitable only for the founders. Try to invest in variety of coins which have potential and can grow in future.

According to many investors and experts, this year would in a positive note.

well, I'm not too much when holding bitcoin. I always hold bitcoin under 1 bitcoin for a long period of time, whereas when I have more than 1 bitcoin, maybe I'll sell it in the near future. well, sometimes there are so many things that need to be bought.

You did a good thing to be honest, but entered the market at the wrong time. I am sure you were aware of the risks you would be facing and knew the consequences. Hope you didn't end up dumping the coins. And yeah, now is actually the best time to invest on crypto currencies. The prices are kinda stable right now. So we can hope for a price rise soon enough.

Stick it on a Trezor and walk away for a couple of years
Doesn't really help because there is no way you can entirely avoid knowing about prices with how we are entering the mainstream world. I tried it for a while but gave up on it with how pointless it is.

Even if your current target is to hold your coins beyond 2020, the price increasing with 50% this year will very likely be so tempting for you to cash out, that you will actually do it. Most people aren't firm hodlers.

It's insanely difficult for people to resist the temptation of selling, especially if they start thinking about how the price can go down and you miss out on a selling opportunity. It's a mental war game for real.

You make such a good point; payout of debt/discretionary spending/tangible assets among other things make it very difficult. Perhaps op forgets he had the Trezor, then finds it.

Bitcoin of course has far greater fundamentals, but it is still, after all, an experiment unfolding with no real end result in view. But yes, every day that passes without the dream crashing down around us in one day closer to that point of no return.

In that way we can think of everything being an experiment or at least a work in progress. This is even more so with respect to money as there have been many flavors of it which were tried throughout history. Now we have fiat which is not backed up by anything but a kind word and a gun as Al Capone once put it. But everything being an experiment doesn't really make any difference as we are living today no matter when this experiment is going to end, if ever, and how exactly. So, in a sense, anything we do can be considered experimenting, not just bitcoin alone.

I actually did the reverse , I only have less bitcoin but diversified to altcoins. Maybe I need to get more bitcoins again before the bullrun.

One should have the balanced portfolio as you do not know exactly which coin will give you what returns. So having multiple coins is always the recommended one and it also balances you portfolio which is more important as well. So that you do not place all your eggs under one basket.
