Men will never able to retire, while women have a chance.

When men have many business, they have to think about the decision they would made, any fatal decision comes from the CEO. If they only have enough money to cover annual spending, it doesn't enough because wife always force their husband to generate more money, women tend to increase their lifestyle.

Sometimes, working until die doesn't sound bad.

If we think about physical jobs and people going through hardships to do them, like miners during the industrial revolution, then we will surely want to retire as soon as possible. But today there are many jobs that can be done with a computer. And if you have accumulated enough money to retire, you can also make a small investment to start a project that motivates you. That is why I say that I plan, one way or another, never to retire, at least as long as my cognitive abilities allow me to do so.

What about you guys?
I plan to retire from a regular job . You know the one that has an age minimum to it, 65 /70. After which just like you I start experimenting with small pet projects here and there that's still within the field or profession I retire from. Maybe be a consultant, a trainer, an instructor, patent a new product, just whatever that will still keep my blood running and make me look forward to the next day with gusto and boldness. I plan on staying here a long time and even when I retire I won't be tired.

Retiring early doesn't mean that you're going to be completely idle regardless of the kind of job you're doing. It you're hard job, retiring early can be that you will change your area of specialty into something that is less stressful but at the same time engaging enough to keep you active. If you're doing a passive job your retirement can just be to delegate responsibility to others and perform more of a supervisory role since you're better experienced in the field.

For me, my retirement will tilt more towards doing NGO works since I must have invested and created a lot of system that can sustain me throughout that phase such that I don't necessarily have to be an active contributor to the system before it function effectively. Retiring phase should be period you use in giving back to the society such that from your wealth of experience, those coming behind you can make use of it for their own good and you can also look at yourself as an asset to the society.

It all comes down to your definition of job, or to put simply about what you do to make money. If it is something that you hate or don't really like and you are just doing it to get paid, then of course you would want to retire as soon as possible.
This is why we see most people want to retire early!

But if your "job" is indeed something you truly love, then why would you want to abandon it ever?
This is why you rarely see anybody who doesn't look forward to retirement. Because so many people have jobs they hate.

That's what I've tried to do in my life. I do a lot of things, sometimes make money from them as well, that I love and try to don't do anything I don't. This is why I am always "working" on something and learning new skills.
For instance last year I started learning 3D modeling and animation. I even posted one of my first projects, a bitcoin logo, here on bitcointalk. Although it is like a side-project and my progress has been a little slow and I have not monetized or plan on monetizing it but it can be like a job some day and I'll never tire of doing it because I love it.

If retirement will improve my life, I'd do it, because of the positive lifestyle that I could chase when the time for retirement shows up. I'm not considering traveling, or focusing on a hobby, at least having excessive time to spend with family and friends is a great reason for my retirement plans. However, after a while and it gets tiring, and nothing is stopping me from working, things like health, I would consider lesser intensive jobs like affiliate marketing, or a business that somebody else would help manage, so that much time will be left to relax.

I recently found out that I'm kind of like a workaholic
What would I be doing when I retire?
Retire from my current job? Definitely
But stop working altogether
I doubt I can
I would feel I'm not been productive enough
Mind you I love my rest and peace of mind but I have to achieve something with result to feel at Ease.

One of my to-do list is travelling around the world but not something I can revolve my life around in my old age.
Thank God for the online market. So no need to strain the body muscles.

This thread is in contrast to the following one:

Financial Independence Retire Early [F.I.R.E]

It's not that I want to make a competition between the two threads, far from it, but I have long thought that even if the time comes when I accumulate so much wealth that I can retire, even before the ordinary retirement age, I don't plan to do so. I will first quote part of what I said in that thread:

I am not attracted to this movement, and in 5 to 10 years at the most I will be able to quit my job, or spend a year traveling around the world if I want to. Some FIRE stories are of a sub-human stinginess to reach the goal of financial freedom, and then when they get it they still find it hard to spend the money. Also, having no obligations, lots of free time and little to do ends up with some people dying from overdoses or things like that. Those who don't take that route end up going back to work, but in something that they want, that motivates them and being their own boss. Marc Cuban would be an example.

I would also like to say that I'm not pretending this is an idea that I invented. I'm sure I've heard it from several public figures, one of whom was Dave Ramsey.

If you were retired, would you mind very much doing a job like participating in a paid signature campaign of the forum? I wouldn't, and even less if it's one of those that doesn't have a weekly minimum.
