If you had 2 BTC and you say that you had to sell becasue your family would almost starve if you did not, then how much you needed to help them in the first place? Why you did not sell like 2000$ worth of BTC and keep the rest if you were so sure of the bounce in the future.
I think you got scared that it could go even lower than 3000$.
P.s.it so weird to talk about it now, since i also was thinking it can go to 2500 and di not buy that much either.

I understand the circumstances you have been through. We need money to sustain our daily needs. Hold is not a better option if you have financial crisis, better sell off your bitcoin at a low price. Yes, regrets is there. But isn't more regretful if one of the family members will get sick if we don't feed them up? I can't blame your actions back then, but maybe next time you can sell off your btc at higher price and get the profits for your personal needs.
At least this thing will make him aware of bitcoin. I guess many people out there will believe that bitcoin price will goes up again when the crashed has came. They will believe bitcoin price will goes down deeply and end up with bubble. But that will never happen, even the holder of bitcoin still find the latest information againt it they must be aware that that there is many party/company who are ready to choose bitcoin as their investment place. And recently I got an information that stated Bakkt will be ready to trade bitcoin on 23 November, that is a good news actually.

I've sold tons of Bitcoin at around $200 and also sold even more ETH at around $5-$10 a coin. I sold because at the time it looked like a fair price and I needed to money to pay for electricity and buy more GPUs.

Yes if I've held till now I would definately get much more for it but you can't predict the future. At the time BTC when it traded around $200 it looked like it would break $200 support and head into the $100 area and maybe even double digits. And ETH at the time of the DAO hack was not looking good either, and it could of went back to $1 ETH a coin.

Sure if I knew what the future would bring I've obviously would of held but I didn't. Same with you selling at $3000. You said you knew it was going to go up but how sure were you? Not very. It could of went to $2000 then $1000 and you wouldn't be able to buy food like you've meantioned.

Thank you @adaseb for this great post. Would have given you a Merit but you don't need it, as you are already a Legendary  Cool

No one can predict the Bitcoin movement for a certainty no matter how hard they try. We all can only guess. Even at the current price, no one can say for sure if the price will go up tomorrow, or come back at $3,000. As you and OP said earlier, no better time to sell Bitcoin. Any time is a good time, provided you made some profits and used the proceed wisely.

Let me give @adaseb merit for great post Wink

So nothing to be worried if we already sold bitcoin. Like @adaseb said, we don't know when it will going to go up, and we are not sure when will happen. All we did that is because we need money to survive in real life. If we know the future, maybe we will borrow some money to fill what we want first, and then when the bitcoin price increase, we will sell the bitcoin and pay the money.

I think others will do the same, but we have our reason why we sold the bitcoin too early.

There is no actual right time to sell Bitcoins. The reason you sold yours for is good and I am sure you still received more ROI than you invested in them. That’s the positive about Bitcoins. No matter at what price you bought them, if you wait for the correct time, it always will return back more than was invested.
It is true that you could have made double the amount if you sold them right now but the situation required for you to do it at that time. It is commendable what you did.

That's really inspiring mate. I must say that you have done a really nice job by keeping your perspective positive about it.
That's really a good quality. Money is made to make our life easier. Life should be our first priority.

Thank you for the kind comment, and nice to hear the post was inspiring, that was the purpose. I have earned and bought some couple of Bitcoins since then.

Still much more to earn in the days ahead.

If you need money then nothing you can do besides sold your bitcoin although after you sell it the price jumped 3x than the previous rates but make this as your valuable experience that patience is necessary to get good price to sold your bitcoin and for the next if you have another bitcoin from your bussiness deal then you have to wait until the price good to sold it
I think whatever your reason to sell, do not sell all the bitcoins you have, you know that bitcoin has a beautiful future, why do you sell everything you have? lets say you need money for your needs, but don't sell it all, leaving a few percent for the future. that is good called financial management and a good plan

what you do is very precise, we sell any btc or coins our assets are at the right time not at a high price, I once sold altcoin at a low price I know when a few days pass if I still keep it in the next 2 weeks I will get 90% more, but I'm not sorry. because I sell my assets when I need them.
There is no need to be retained in investment unless we have other money to continue living.

Well, no doubt I would have gotten $20,000+ if I had retained the coin till now, but what if my family died of hunger? Money is as good as the problem it was able to solve, that's the lesson I want everyone to learn here.
Yes, sometimes we need to sell part of our assets for the family. Because sometimes without us knowing, the fortune or money we receive is not only our personal possession. There are other people's rights in it.

If I had option to sell some and retain some, I would have taken it. I simply did not have such privileged option as at that time. Like I said in the original post, I knew the price was going to rise as I have been good at predicting Bitcoin movement. So, It was not about ignorance, it was about problems at hands at that time.

Right now, I am gearing up for the future trends as you can see from the recent post I made

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/who-else-is-expecting-the-ultimate-rise-of-bitcoin-5177218

Again, I am not in anyway regretting the sale. I was just stating my experience for others to learn from it

I think BetFlexi should remove the OP from their signature campaign, this story is full of BS not even worth pin pointing each one.

selling btc at 3000 dollars is very bad idea the reason is btc will defintely pump again so we need to learn a lesson nt to sell btc below 5000 dollars

So you're saying that it was a better move in OP's case to just hold the bitcoin and let his/her family starve? Listen to what you're saying. OP used his bitcoin for one if it's main purposes, as a currency or a cross-border fund transfer. While it didn't end up in OP's favor in terms of price, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I once heard of a man who had Bitcoin and was sick. People advised him to sell and get the needed cure but he decided to endure the sickness and wait until the price goes up. He died of the illness and the Bitcoin was rendered useless, with no one having access to it.

This is a very sad and very pitiful case. we you need to look at things like this:

If someone decides to invest in bitcoin, then that person should have real world funds that will allow them to use it for their needs and that person should also know when to spend their bitcoins. In the case you mentioned, if the person had psychological training, he would immediately take his bitcoin and pay for his treatment to cure his illness.

But as one entered the crypto world without any strategy, the only thing that comes to mind is the greed and madness of getting very rich with hold

This is dumb. Even if cryptocurrencies don't exist, you don't spend  all your cash. You put your cash to work either as an investment or in a bank with high interest and then you set aside cash for expenses.

You should spend cryptocurrencies as well as hodl a portion.

You made some sense at the end of your post. Yes, I am a believer in spending some and holding some too. It is called "savings"

The BTC couldn't have been sold for a better reason. If you're beating yourself up for selling at 3k + what if it had gone lower? What would ypu have said then. Personally, I feel one should take profits where one is comfortable but family always comes first. So even though you most likely sold at a net loss and missed out on even more profits, you did what you had to do.

Every thing in life is all about experience, and we keep learning from our mistakes, Therefore, Bitcoin is cryptocurrency which the prize can be change at any time, But bitcoin has the potential to raised at any thing, even the current price at $10,000 plus, is still good to invest through buying and sell in the future time.

In life there are priorities, and family need comes first, so I don't think you make the wrong decision because you urgently need the money, but if you're investors then its a bad move to sell the coin at low price, I agree that we should spend in order to make the demand and supply become more balance, but you should save some for your investment and your future
