The community of bitcoin is really powerful and there are lots of big companies paying close attention to bitcoin. I invest in bitcoin because of the bitcoin's rarity and the incremental value of bitcoin in the future.

3D printer... stick a small usb wallet in the design and woohaa physical bitcoin

Yeah, the best decision in this case to my mind ))))))  Wink
Every person that dream about physical Bitcoin do not understand really what Bitcoin means and how it works, what the benefits are in digital coins and what they really gets when they have physical Bitcoin. Really even funny. How this physical Bitcoin may raise or fall in price? The price may only be for material that it is made from - metal, paper, plastic, gold or whatever. You may touch it, see it,. But I would prefer to see and to have the real digital currency on my wallet the cost of coins that changes into + )))) Lots of physical things you may find in the shop where you may ask to be made for you with the Bitcoin symbol. But it won't be Bitcoin at all. Bitcoin - it is trading process, it is something that you may feel emotionally when you see positive changes in your wallet. ))) and it decentralised, it is transparent and even safe if you remember and follow all the rules.

Then what's the point of cryptocurrency? As it is working as digital currency, why you need to make it physical? In other hand, the cryptocurrency can reduce the risk of getting stolen by unresponsible person because the complexity of the virtual wallet.
I've seen it in some media, I think it's just some kind of jewelry.
even I do not know if it is original and worth the same as digital currency. Maybe just a hobby like they collect gold.

:)I don't know if this is possible by any one company or organization, and don't know about what the procedure will be to realize this as well.
But what do you think about the concept of physical bitcoin? I remember hearing a while back about someone who actually did created a few physical bitcoin. But what about in more public approach, I mean, especially for people who actually want to hold bitcoin for long.  Smiley Smiley

Lol, I know a funny story which is about a physical bitcoin. I live in Russia, and here there are some gypsies too...like in Europe. And yeah, just on streets they sold to greedy people physical "bitcoins" for 20-30$ per 1 coin - it was even in news. I was laughing so hard...

I think it's not possible to see Bitcoin physically. Infact not only Bitcoin but all the other crypto currency also. Because they were designed like this. Crypto currency were launched for only virtual transaction. If Bitcoin comes to real then it will lose it's gained trust and also other positiveness. If you see wisely then you will understand if bitcoin comes real then the smooth, fast transaction won't be possible.
So I think Bitcoin is at it's best the way it is now.

I always think that just incase if we have more bitcoins in physical supply this will change the scenario of btc altogether. As  its virtual many people fear with it and do not put their hand in this cypto world. But if its goes in physical form it would be just like another currency which they use in their respective country and this might change the mindset of more users across world and would have a larger market worldwide with this way.

This is a very interesting idea. I feel like it would be very risky to be carrying around one single coin that is worth currently about $11,000 USD. If bitcoin made physical coins I also believe many of altcoins will make them as well. Then people will be carrying around coins instead of money. When you think about it this way we would almost be going back to old roman money where you carry around bags of coins.

I mean this is way beyond what you were talking about. I was just kind of thinking out loud.

Once you have physical bitcoin, it is no longer digital and decentralized.
It becomes fiat currency like dollar, pounds and others which are being controlled
and held physically by governments. The idea of bitcoin is to ease transactions across
various geographical divides avoiding laws, regulations, delays and several contriants
posed to fiat currency.

I don't think that would work, because you would need some king of company to produce them, and to guarantee that those physical coins are not forfeited. This is one of the reasons why we have banks, so bitcoin would step back from being a decentralized currency. By being virtual, and relying on the security of the blockchain, you don't need anyone else to do this for you, and that's a key aspect of bitcoin. I don't think a physical version would work.

Why would you want to have it? Bitcoin is virtual and does not exist physically but i saw one, a representation of bitcoin which my cousin bought. But that is only as a souvenir or a keepsake.

Don't you think it's amazing to have a souvenir in form of a coin which actually really worth over thousands of dollars?
Casascius is the most famous physical bitcoin in the market, it comes in several values:  BTC1, 10, 25, 100 and even BTC1000. You can read it here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Casascius_physical_bitcoins
It will be more valuable if you store the private key into a gold coin, well Casascius has did that with BTC100 and BTC1000 in gold plated bar. It's really expensive though.

I think if bitcoin becomes physical then the concept of it being a money online, or digital/virtual currency will be nonsense. I meant no offense on what you like sir or ma'am but this thing we use and we are interested upon is because of the evolving technology and to have our stored online without the concept of getting interference from any third or government party. If it become physical some of it's big advantage would be gone.
Decentralized characteristics would really be gone if bitcoin would tend to have a physical form but if this thing would happen it turns out that it is already a centralized stuff because supply can really be extent which those people behind who do support such changes do have the control of it which means its not really decentralized at all. There are coins in the market which symbolize bitcoin but doesn't really act as it should be.

I think bitcoin is better off been a digital coin that it is. That was the concept it was created for 'as a digital currency'. But nevertheless, I have heard of and see a physical bitcoin, though I don't have one. Most people believe it will be better off having it when trying to hold for quite a longer term, which might also be good. You can check out in the marketplace section, probably you might see anyone who is willing to sell. Just make sure its the genuine coin.

This is definitely important, cause now here we are talking about just a funny stuff, such is physical bitcoins. But what about of money psychology? You know, several guys even in early medieval age talked about "good" and "bad" money. And their final state was that bad money wins good money, cause "good money" is an investment itself and/or security tool, like a share for now. Copernic was one of that guys.

So, for my opinion, it is good way to develop virtual money with stable ability to get it in physical way, which may be a silver of gold coin with private key inside.
