That's very generous of you OP, I think the games and rounds section is more accurate, just to be safe IMO.

How about hosting some prediction game, like predicting the price of btc at a specific date and time and the closest will win the reward.
I think it's more fun and that really suits in the games and rounds section.

that sounds good, appreciate it @Maslate

Make sure if you want to giveaway in money, make sure it's in bitcoins only (not alt coins) because I think that's forbidden.
That's not entirely true: you can do altcoin giveaways in Games and rounds, but you shouldn't be giving people incentives to post in your thread. It's okay to make people post to earn Bitcoin only. or altcoins you should post a link to for instance Google Forms, or ask people to send a PM.

I tried to have this changed, but the same rules are still in place.

It depends on what type of giveaway you want to. Make sure if you want to giveaway in money, make sure it's in bitcoins only (not alt coins) because I think that's forbidden. You can do giveaways in games and round section or if you want to focus on people from your area or country, there has been lots of giveaways in the local sections as well  Cheesy

It is indeed forbidden. Last year, a bunch of senior members got temp-banned for unintentially joining an altcoin giveaway.

I want to giveaway some bitcoin to remind people that when bears walk free small bulls start to show up.

Can somebody guide me about forum best practices on this?

p.s. I did some research and all I found was this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=71.0 should I post here?

(this thread should be moved to META sorry)

I have done some giveaways in the past... (more like a game with a giveaway) maybe something to try idk... But just do so and go for it if you wanna organise something, who hosts just makes the rules as simple as that.

If you are serious about this, join my mailing list at https://clubcrypto.live

I'm launching microprojects next week.  You can use some coin to sponsor workers and earn a % of their earnings.

A worker can earn about $1 an hour, but it takes $1 to join and $3 to certify their basic skills with an online testing site.  Many of the workers in poorer countries may not be able to afford the $4 to start, so you could help spread your coin around in a safe, automated, verifiable way.

Give aways for no good reason is hardly the way of the forum as it doesn't encourage hard work but then, if you must, altcoin give aways are prohibited as noted above and it could lead to temporal ban of participants and what the case might be for OP is what I don't know for now. BTC is the currency of the forum and give aways should assume same nature.
Just as OgNasty pointed out, there really isn't any perfect way to get it done and it's always going to be abused with alts mainly from the bounty hunters who beliefs in many accounts for optimum benefits. So, make it tasking somehow that it would help the forum and in turn become rewarding into participants. Otherwise, you risk spamming the forum.

Just try gleam.io. It is popular in making giveaways but if this is a market manipulating job, you might have a hard time allocating a huge amount of users in the forum that would risk their money to be a bull in a bearish market. Giveaways aren't really an option for this kind of query, unless you want to somehow shill a certain altcoin. If shilling or reviving an altcoin is your idea, having a better marketing should be your choice. Overall, this forum isn't really fit for certain giveaways.

Giveaways are tough.  I used to give silver coins away to anyone who asked but it was heavily abused with alt accounts that made me have to stop.  Make sure there's a barrier of entry to your giveaway, or it is only a matter of time before it will be abused.  I personally would love to give away a ton of goods on this forum as a thank you, but there's no good way to do it where honest people benefit and scammers don't without setting off some sort of riot over unfairness.  If you think of a good solution, feel free to drop me a line, or if you want some advice on what won't work, I can share my experience with you.  I'm also planning a $10,000 coin giveaway in the near future, but will have a barrier of entry to keep out the riffraff.

Straight answer, if the giveaway doesn't require any action like posting on a thread or something like that, and giveaway with bitcoin then you would create it on the service section. You can ask to apply only on the thread same as a Signature campaign. Nothing else you can ask there to get giveaway rewards. Anything else you need then better to stick with the Games and rounds section. There you can add a task to get rewards.

Anyway, I think someone from moderators will answer exactly where you can post your giveaway thread. Because our thoughts might be wrong as well.

So why do you need permission / approval from the members here?  Just do it.

If you are going to require an action before they get your bitcoin, sign a message from an address holding funds so we know we're not wasting our time.

These are all very useful tips for all the traders as I am sure that there are many traders out there who are doing some of these ways that they should have avoided if they want to secure their capital.

Stop loss is the most important that a trader should always do because even a professional trader cannot do a perfect trading but they were able to maintain their good profit by stopping the losses to those trades that are not profitable.

I think if you do it right then its allowed. I remember this thread by mocacinno when he tried the suggestion of theymos. Here is a perfect example on how you gonna do a giveaway. Check out the thread and kindly reffer to that method. Also make sure you post it on games and rounds as posting some altcoin might lead to banned or deletion of your topic post.

If the giveaway is not in BTC read this: How to do private giveaways
Guess it would work in both cases, for BTC or alts.
Good luck with it

First of all, make sure it's indeed Bitcoin, since Altcoin giveaways are completely disallowed.
I've found this (see quote), which looks rather scary, still similar things are tolerated in [url-https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5310543]collectibles raffles[/url].
So, I think that, as said in the quote, Games and Rounds is the choice you have, or link to external site.

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned. Existing threads will be locked.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

If it's all about giveaway then that's the right place to post that(games and rounds).

Take note referral links are not allowed but you can wear your referral links under your signature and much better read our forum guidelines from the link below.
