Is there any coin worth mining with an i7-7700?

I looked into Monero, but it doesn't seem profitable. I am mining SIGT with 2xGPU, but I thought I might aswell put my CPU to use when I'm not using it.

Cheers,

pika

CPU would be very unfair to use as it will not generate any good hashing power which plays important role in the mining process and revenue generation. GPU is good option always but that too with high end performance CPU otherwise it will start lagging in the computing power, making whole thing run in poor state. Hope you find a way to set it up perfect.

We're making $0.80 - $2.27 per day depending on the coin mined with our AMD Ryzen CPUs.  We don't  mine with any of our Intel CPUs though since they're not nearly as good at it (unless you have Xeons of course). You can make a little bit mining with a recent gen i7 but it's not all that much after power costs.

My Burst miner has an E5-2683 V3 (14 core) CPU.  It does about $1.10 on NiceHash doing CryptoNight.

Recently started on my i7-6700K using Claymore CryptoNote CPU Miner v3.5 Beta. Initially started 239 h/s then it went down to 198 h/s stable.
Thank you coinnoob_za for suggesting this to me  Smiley

Very interesting. What coin are you mining? I've never thought about turning my cpu onto a coin. I have several computers that could easily be pointed to a miner during off hours.

Monero Price is skyrocketing last few days. I have been mining it for 2 months with CPU's that are liquid cooled. So might have been worth it.
Minergate has ability to set CPU intensity so you can have the CPU mine at lesser intensity so it doesnt load CPU 100% all the time.
But really a long term thing if you believe in a coin like Monero which is showing promise
i did plan doing this before using those cpu from my small computer shop but after seeing the result which is not profitable if electricity included
and the harmed that it will cause to my computers so i did forget about it dont know if someone can tell us here if they can still getting profits
with cpu mining.

I put my CPUs on IntenseCoin -- it's had quite a few hiccups but it's interesting & also very new so has upside potential.

There are enough CPU-only coins. Try ZOI, MAGI, VRM, HEXX. You can check your possible profitability by using YIIMP Bench web-page. I think CPU-mining is a long term investment so choose a coin, mine it for 2-3 month and forget about it for 2-4 month and The profit can be good.

How can I mine these CPU coins? Never heard of them?

You can search for them. But most of the coins so called to be CPU-only are in a short time realized to be minable with other computing graphics cards with some tweaks. So, the CPU mining profit works only with the new coins.
Use your hardware for your choice of coin, trying new coins from your CPU. Who knows, what coin will be the next hit.

Thanks for your information, I know only MAGI cpu only coin (although it is no longer cpu only). I will check others later.

My i7 6600K mines with Nicehash and returns ~0,2 EUR/day. I have reduced max CPU output to 70% in Win10 to keep it cool - it runs at 43C, but keep in mind that at the same time it also mines 7TB Burst plots with its IGPU, runs 4 StorJ nodes and ~20 apps for my work with documents.

Hi, if it's not for profit, perhaps you could try the smart mining feature of Minergate software ? It automatically chooses the best profitable coin.

It is hard to make profit with low ROI now. But if you do not want to let you mining rig's CPU idle. Then you can use it to mine some potential coins to keep, which you think the coin had future.

Any small coin you thinking about? I don't really know the CPU coins available.

You have to search it yourself. It's not like there is recommendation for coin. What your goal is to look trough some coins that can be mined with CPU, chose one that you think will have price increase in future and mine it, sell later for profit. Otherwise you won't be seeing much money.

Exactly! We can't suggest you any potential coin to mine because any coin that you mine with CPU  won't make profit now. You have to decide which coin that you think the price will rise in future, then mine it and keep it.
