Re: ICO buying experience.

I think the first ICO I bought was ICN or Iconomi. Its very successful ICO and having a good price when it was put on exchanges. If you are joining ICO, see to it that it is run by legit organization or people with good track record. Be careful always as there are also scammers.
Sadly, most project at now are scammer or do not clearly, so very difficult when we want confirm an ICOs project really or fake. Fortunately, in Bitcointalk Forum still have many people helps us solve this problem, example @cryptodevil had blocked Karbon, Lust ICO project in past time.

Not directly but a few months ago I tried to participate in the bounty program of one ICO. I spent almost 6+ hours to work on the translation for Ann topic and I received bounty reward in the form of those coins.

The exchange was planned on the roadmap, founder announced the ICO, raised around 30 BTC from that ICO and ran away. Even the web wallet for that coin was not accessible and he deleted the entire site. It was the worst experience so far but taught me the best lesson for rest of my life.

Actually it's a bit risky to invest in pre ico sale because you do not know if their project will succeed, if you really want to invest it's better to learn about their company and their partnerships as well as the content of the concept. I also experienced buying tokken ico sale and earning more than x3 in my capital.

Buying ICO is very risky because you dont know for sure what you buy and it is really important to check all the information and ICO can be profitable if your coin successful, I ever bought an ICO but it was a failure although I already checked all the information, I guess buying ICO need to depend on luck
choosing a good ICO should require precision and also good accuracy, because not all ICO can run as expected. sometimes ICO can also give a loss. so it can be concluded that ICO will follow should give big profit for the future.

We have yet to lose on an ICO but we hand pick ours to make sure its 100% legit and not full of potential empty promises. The returns have helped us build and start our own projects in the space which we are grateful for.

Always do your due diligence (product, team, history, etc) before investing in an ICO, you can lose big but you can also win more than 100% so it makes it a worth while investment in certain cases.

The risk will be there if you doesn't do a background checking of the project and seek the volume of community that will support that coin and if you see that there's a huge support for certain coin that offers a pre-sale price for there coin then I think you can earn huge profits with them by short instance.

I followed some inspirational pundits such as Naval Ravikant, Fred Ehrsam etc. and noticed the 0x ICO. I invested roughly 500€ and got a return of roughly 5000€ when I sold.

Basically I am looking for new "investments" now.

dont buy any ICO before... traditional coin is safer
No you are completely wrong with your above statement. If you invest in promising ICO than you can easily get over 10x profit in really short time, take a look at monaco. ICO price for monaco was around $1 and now it is being traded at over $20 and might cross $40 soon.

Trading coin is safer but what you can earn with holding them is really tiny compared to what you can earn with good ICO.

Invest in ones that have credibility and a great team that is verified or known in the space. Do your due diligence and don't be naive. If you see any that are promoting high yielding profits and focus on ROI % then its probably a scam.

ICO investing can be an excellent way to make money quickly if done properly.

Until now, I never participated or buying in pre ICO or ICO token sale. I have simple reason, that new coin has no history price action or even volume, to give me one good reason to buy it. Second thing, too many coin make me not comfortable to buy. Sometimes I think it's just a " trend " and will ending anyway. I only buying bitcoin and second coins ( eth, monero, ripple ) to make profit on the real market. Be careful with ICO and have a nice day.

I bought for roughly $30 worth of Lisk during the ICO-phase. The value of the bought amount of Lisk would suffice to fund an extensive roadtrip nowadays, but I sold it for a modest profit long ago. During the ICO-phase of Waves, I participated in a signature campaign related to it. It yielded an amount of Waves that would be worth around $1500 today, but once again I sold it a while back. In my experience, ICO's can result in surprisingly huge profits from just small investments, though I realize they absolutely don't guarantee a positive outcome.
