ICO is a good option for investing if you are very fond of risk. You can earn a round sum or lose a lot. There is a lot of scam among ICO projects.  Smiley
Good option for those who understand the risk and knows how to do their  homework, its all about risking and willingness to handle losing
money in case that the project won't work or dev are scammers. before moving forward know first your capability to understand.

If you can spot and invest an ICO with good potential and a nice team, then it will be a good investment. Most of the ICOs right now are just a duplicate of past ICOs almost the same but not all ICOs are like that.

ICO is actually not some particular physical matter. There are different ICOs in terms of both procedure and project. You should treat every single ICO as a specific matter that can be attractive to you or not, just like successful at the end or not.

ICO Is really a good Investment but like any other investment venture, you need to find the "right" ICO to invest in. There simply those who wont turn in any profit to you. Many ICO are scam so you have to be careful before dedicated to join ICO. I suggest you to join in a ICO that you really understand the project, know the team members and check their roadmap to make sure everything are legit.
Although the identity of devs team is one of the most important you need to check before invest in ICO project, but you forget the devs don't guarantee your investment will have profits after investment. No projects guarantee profits in whitepaper, just introduce project and roadmap, they don't mention any obligations related to profit, therefore, even if you know them, you still can not do anything about them.

For an ICO to be a good investment you must put some time into research. There are a lot of scams out there, but so many are very easy to identify. Such as the level of risk. I, for example, would think twice before putting my money into a project that doesn't have a solid product yet. Also checking the advisors background can give you more confidence in the project and I read somewhere that a simple research on their LinkedIn profile can make you easily identify a scam.

That said, I will suggest you to take a look into the AppCoins ICO, which started yesterday. They are backed by a 200 million users app store and have a very interesting project.

Yes, it can be a very good investment if you choose a promising project. Now a lot of useless projects and to find something profitable you need to spend a lot of time analyzing the team and ideas.
I like this list to analyze:

But with the price of eth beeing so high atm , does it make sense to buy in on an ICO?

I mean lets say You get 1000 token for 1Eth.

few weeks ago that was 350 bucks for 1000 token
now its 700 bucks for 1000 token.....or do they give out more tokens when the eth price is rising?

Absolutely IS. As far as I know - it's quite usual that ICO's make x3-5 in first weeks, only things you should do - is to pass KYC(in some cases) and to have money to invest; another point is trading with the right timing, it also matters a lot.

Blockchain Just Entered The Real World

If you are confused then hell no! There is no way you will make money. My advise to you is to get a hang of crypto and ICO's and try to learn about FA. ICO's are all about Fundamental analysis. I have seen people who have had made millions from it and also loose millions.

Well obviously investing in ICOs is possibly the riskiest investments possible. Fortunately, we can allows do our due diligence and gather information before deciding.
I've been reserving a part of my portfolio for these kinds of riskier investments. Currently i'm investing in AppCoins (whose ICO just opened), Raiden, OmiseGo.

I always stay away from the more scammy looking ICOs such as Monetha and others...

It's totally depends on which ICO you're going to invest. Check Background, investors and team. I am not sure just a good whitepaper impact on user.

Sometime its good for investing and sometime not.
when it's a good ico, absolutely profitable for investor and developer.
The advantage for investors who invested on ICO before the coin is launched to the free market is the price given will be cheaper. And usually when the coin is launched the price will jump up to more than 5x the price of ICO. This is what makes investors enjoy this ICO.
For the developers they will get financial assistance to accelerate their projects that they develop, so that can be enjoyed by many people.
Behind the profits there must be disadvantages that will come. Because ICO is investing in nature then we spend money and give to third parties and the money may not be used according to the agreement when ICO is carried away without any explanation that is clear or more familiar with SCAM.
Several things become the problem of SCAM when the ICO is not clear project, the purpose of collecting funds made by developers and teams that are not clear or not plastered. Usually this will be explained in the whitepaper.

For the reason of dumping I consider the best option to buy tokens after listing on exchanges. In this case you don't freeze your money in waiting for listing

Actually I recommend you do not ivest in ICO now, because of a lot of scam ICO's. It's really hard to find a profitable ICO with promising and working project. I lost some of my btc when tried invest in ICO.
