Not for all coin that's sure. There are many scam coins in the markets without any project. But of course, there are really good ICO.if you can buy or accumulate during the ICO for a good project i think your words are right. Maybe you can also buy at the markets after the opening but the price could probably higher.
And even after reading the information about the ICO project it is impossible to fully imagine the pitfalls ... There is always and always will be a risk.
Look for ICO's that have huge bounties and then wait. Do not invest in an ICO that has a huge bounty they distribute. Wait until they reach the markets, the bounty hunters dump all of thier coins and you can grab the coin for cheap.
I think other altcoin-users is risking too much for investing without looking those whitepapers and not doing some research of what the ICO project is capable of. 
This is really depending on the project. Perhaps the best is to divide your crypto capital into ICOs and some tokens that are already in markets. Some people said it is better to participate in ICOs rather than risk at the current market which is bloody. But some people especially the whales are taking this time as good buying opportunity.

99% of the ico's are scams. People are losing billions. Just look at sonm and iota. Both seem legit but ripped people of. 
Yes,I think ico is a great opportunity for investment. It will make a good profit. But you have to be careful about the choosing of coin for ico. If you choose the wrong coin you will be in trouble. So research 1st about that in which you will invest. Then buy it.

Its good and bad both ways. Its good because its like we buy coins before the coin launch and when it launches we can get good amount of profit but many scammers are taking advantage of this and making scam ICO and people are getting into that trap and investing money in those scam ICO's and loose money there. My advice is to all that always research about the ICO before investing anything into that.

For me ICO is a good investment but be sure to research first of that ICO if they have reach the minimum cap of there token sale, I have also experience of making x5 increase on my investment due to ICO investment.

Well its not for me because not all altcoins have an ico some only exist in the market without any ico promotions but investing in a ico is also good if a coin have a long term projects and not only by words in their ico roadmap.

It is but wont be the best choice or guarantee to make money later on.If you do tend to join up on ICO then be sure on jumping on the right project or else you will end up on being scammed if you do put your money on a shady ICO. Knowing that there are lots of projects do exist on the market do tend just to scam investors. Be wise as an investor for us to avoid disaster on our funds.
