In about 20 hours we will have the fist validation in sharding mode. Expect The unexpected. Fingers crossed because its the biggest thing since epoch 1.

https://medium.com/idena/idena-chronicles-ea0c01c5bc26

If anyone wants invitation code. PM me.

I hope there are no problems with this sharding, I don't know much about sharding and the benefits in it, looks like it will start on Epoch 77 this week, hope everything will be better after sharding is implemented

Dear Idena community,

We do not recommend running multiple nodes for the same validated or pool address. It leads to double block proposing and reduces your mining rewards. Please make sure you have only one running node for your mining address.

Here are the examples of addresses who lost their rewards because of running more then one node simultaneously:

I see people running 1 mining node wallet on 2 VPS so that their income decreases, I think they do that because it prevents a penalty when one of the vps is in maintenance or dead at least their wallet is not subject to a mining penalty, but on the contrary what they do will be harm them

doesnt pi.network rely on the same principle?

Yes, exactly the same. I've heard Idena is fork of Pi.

which makes me wonder, that lost connection only for validation, I know what examplens feeling because I've experienced about it, Lost the connection while validation, pictures slowly loading after waiting the result got failed for validation. And I wonder this happens when only use PC, when running it on VPS there will fine, but when using cheap VPS with low specifications same as the result.

So run your node on cheap PC or cheap VPS and use WEP APP with rented node (for 1 iDNA = 9 cents) for validation only. Its that simple. I don't know why we are talking about that for months. PC, home router and cheap vps might be too weak for validation. End of the story.

although it often happened that flip keywords in the validation period were not loaded, which can be frustrating.
People who run node on bad pc or bad connection, their node loses connection to the network and node is not able to send decryption keys to you so their flip words can be shown to you.

No, it's not a laptop. I didn't notice any slowdown due to the hardware. Its PC is used only for periodically running few wallets and for backing up personal files. even most of the time it is turned off.
the same configuration worked for several months, without major problems.

Both your PC and internet connection are great. But I have no idea what would cause node to restart in your case. I have never seen this kind of behaviour.
In any case, next validation should be way easier for everyone, since network has split into shards for validation transactions. That means your node will not communicate as much as before and it should go more smoother.

For that part, "words not loading" it's not up to you, nothing you can do about it but try to wait if the words will load. What causes words not to load? People who run node on bad pc or bad connection, their node loses connection to the network and node is not able to send decryption keys to you so their flip words can be shown to you.
By waiting, you are waiting for a chance if that someone will be able to reconnect their node and it will try to send you decryption keys again.

Node is running on HP brand machine, i3, 6GB memory...
Of course, all other software was turned off, except regular Windows (win 7, there are no more regular updates which can cause network congestion)
Do you by any chance monitor the Node usage within the task manager? if so how high does the node usage.

Anyway, I don't know if it would help, but have you tried/set the power plan on your OS to high performances? See Learning Windows 7: Manage Power Settings. I assume you are run it on a Laptop right("HP brand machine")? I think the settings somehow affect the performance of the device, it wouldn't hurt if you try to change it.

Lost peers would be explained by bad internet connection. Node restart would be explained by low ram or slow cpu.
Where did you run your node? What are it's specifications?
Please do that connection test and share it's results.

This node is going offline 5 minutes before start validation (the countdown timer did not even appear). I made mistake and manually restart this PC, which caused an even longer launch of the node software itself. but the basic problem is that after a successful update it went into offline mode waiting for a new synchronization.
I can't doubt the bad connection, because the other node on the same radio worked perfectly and without problems all the time.

This is an internet connection:

Well, with an increasing number of validators, the network becomes significantly weaker and more unstable. Today, just 5 minutes before validation, my node going to be unsynced and offline with zero blocks remaining. there was no chance of passing the validation with him.
Now it's suspended, what to do with them? Can I withdraw the locked balance from the stake, or I can only to delete everything and start over?

Thanks for the node log.

Your node lost connection during flip lottery
INFO [10-11|13:26:39.561] Peers are not found. Assume node is synchronized component=downloader
INFO [10-11|13:26:39.562] Flip lottery calculations started
INFO [10-11|13:26:44.562] Peers are not found. Assume node is synchronized component=downloader

Then restarted 2 times, first time on validation start
INFO [10-11|13:29:31.122] Idena node is starting                   version=0.27.2

And second time 18 min after validation started
INFO [10-11|13:48:41.085] Idena node is starting                   version=0.27.2

Here are suggestions for running Desktop App with built-in node:
  • Check your internet connection quality here. If your connection is graded A or B, you have good connection. If it's C or worse, it is bad. If you are connected via Wi-Fi, try connecting using LAN cable and check connection again. If your connection is still bad, you MUST use Web App for validation.
  • If you are using Windows OS, you must install free software NetTime which will keep your clock in perfect syncronisation which is important for validation.
  • Make sure you turn off any other aplication that are using internet.
  • Do not use Wi-Fi, connect your PC with LAN cable.

Lost peers would be explained by bad internet connection. Node restart would be explained by low ram or slow cpu.

No need to do anything. Just validate on next validation and you are back in the game. This was the limit of the network but I would like to analyze your node log file to see what caused the problem, so I can give you some advices on how to maybe setup things better or what to consider.
Consider this as vacation as you don't need to make flips for next validation Smiley

Also, next validation should be easier on the nodes and network, since now network had separated to 4 shards! My node is in shard 1.

Please PM me if you want me to troubleshoot your validation problem.
We (mostly Hugo Cheesy) are solving these validation problems over on Github discussion

OK, I'm going to send you a link to download the log file. It was huge.
whether mining works if the node is suspended (this node is used for delegation)?

btw. what is the difference between these 4 shards? and how to find in which I am?
